Did you use proper spelling/grammar? Because if you did you're probably screwed.

I know you wouldn't think it by my previous post, but I am pretty sure I did. Also, the headline wasn't that funny, but that may actually help my chances. We'll see.

How does Joe Johnston keep getting work? The only movie he's made that wasn't a bomb is Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and that's hardly going to translate to superhero movie skills.

Shouldn't that be "Your boobieser"?

I believe you mean "Oscar Winner Joe Johnston."

Also, do not disparage The Rocketeer.

Oh, GOD!!!

IT'S VENOM FROM SPIDER-MAN 3 ALL OVER AGAIN!

/"So, what does this guy do?"
"He's Batman's polar opposite. Battle trained, a tactical genius who fights face-to-face, a fierce belief in Ethics as opposed to Morality, and a team-player."
"Make him Emo so the Twilight chicks want to..."
"SHIELD! AWAY!"
THWAK!

Steve Rogers: ANYONE ELSE WANT ME TO BE EMO?!"
All: "NO, SIR!!!"

Jumanji made $262,797,249.
Jurassic Park 3 made $368,780,809.

Yup, nothing but bombs.

Am I the only one who thinks that the uniform looks pretty cool?

Honestly, I'm not sure if there is a way to make the original chainmail uniform look good on real life, but I do like the approach with this one.

The costume looks good, but my expectations are low for the trailer.

I think this movie has potential, and will probably do well at the box office. I have serious doubts about Thor.

It's heartening that the 'geeks' are all cheesed off at the costume, etc. I take that as meaning it might actually be a movie made for humans, in the vein that Iron Man also was made for humans and not just basement dwellers.

This is beyond that. It looks "Highlander: The Quickening" bad.

"M.A.N.T.I.S. bad."

"John-Wesley-Shipp-as-Flash-BA... wait... that one was good. BATMAN AND ROBIN BAD!"

/Marvel Zombie. And proud of it.

Shut your silly internet mouths, negative subferiors! Cower before herr Skull.

This movie will either be passable or awesome. I just hope the Invaders cameo or are hinted at. There was a nicely done moment in Invaders/Avengers where Skull rewarded two henchmen for their failures by turning them into creepy steel dog things with the cube. A sick nazi Mr Smith warping reality? You know it'll be nice when he gets slapped around with a metal saucepan lid!

I get your point, but Iron Man's costume looked exactly like it did in the comics. Like, to the point where they must have just handed the prop guy an issue and said "go make this".

Do you really want his costume to look like the one in the comics? Really?

As someone who just finished reading the first Essential Captain America collection, Captain America started out so very, very emo. The dude asked Agent 13 (Shannon Carter) to marry him on their very first actual date, and when she refused he gave up being Captain America and revealed his identity to the world. In between doing all that, every other story is about how he's a man out of time, Captain America does not belong to this world, oh Bucky how could I let you die?

I was outraged when I heard he wasn't hired as the costume designer. I was looking forward to a big ol' slab-of-man-tits Captain America stumbling over his own lack of feet, falling helplessly to the ground and wailing piteously at the cruel maker that butchered him so. Maybe I should set about illustrating that.

I was about to say, the Iron Man armor was lifted from 'Ultimate Iron Man', and I'd say that this uniform design was taken from Ultimate Cap.

cdn.gs.uproxx.com

Side-by-side with the movie poster there are a lot of similarities, but...is that leather? Vinyl? I think the best way they could have done it for the movie would be to have it a cotton fatigue material, with a very subdued blue, kept it utilitarian and simple like a regular military uniform.

2011-02-05 12:25:30 AM
I was a little worried at first but this movie is looking better every time they release something new about it. I like the costume, it's got a bit of gritty, real and utilitarian feel. Which makes sense for which direction is seems like they're taking the character and film. Joe Johnston is a capable director and this is one of the films I'm excited about this year.

Impossible to tell merely from the pictures. You and your ilk just want to be in the "I told you so" camp if it tanks.

And if it's good they will be forgotten. Assuming suckage is the safe, and really sad, bet.

When I think a movie's gonna suck, I ignore it. No one saw me in any Gigli threads. If you clicked the link, checked the article, came to the comments page and posted, they don't care if you're a hater; you're a ticket purchaser.

Would a soldier want zippers on his uniform? That doesn't seem right. Especially if he designed it himself.

Oh Nelley, this! The Rocketeer is one of the great forgotten films of the early 1990's, it was great then and, a few questionable effects aside, it's a great film today. That film alone gives me hope that Captain America will kick unholy amounts of ass.
