See, now THIS is a case of the handicapped not being given reasonable accommodations.

also, JetBlue was recently sued over something similar. I didn't realize this was such a problem with airlines.

I guess subby's handicap must be mental if he's linking to the second page of an article

I think it's primarily because they face a mind-boggling array of FAA and DHS rules.

But disabled travelers are increasingly complaining about their rights being violated.

Hey, you complain about not getting the same as the non-disabled. We get our rights violated, so do you.

If anybody brings up emotional intelligence or moral courage as possible remedies to this epidemic of shiathead thinking, please punch them in the face and tell them to man up and face reality.

FTA:
Instead of forcing crew members to inspect devices to see if they met various criteria, each approved item would come with a sticker showing it met FAA requirements.

But the federal government never authorized anyone to make the stickers, so a traveler like Salberg with approved equipment has to prove repeatedly that it meets regulations.

More Government Pleeeease!

I'm constantly amazed at how fast airlines respond to complaints like this*.

* once the media is alerted and involved

It looks like this was one of those situations where one regulation said they were forbidden from letting her equipment on board and another one said they had to let her equipment on board, so they had to toss a coin.

You suffer from a crippling medical condition that requires more or less constant nursing supervision. And, if you don't have quick and ready access to certain facilities, you might die because of it.

So of course you make the smart decision and choose to travel by air. That's some well thought-out plan right there!

Bah, give me the good ol' days when it was a real treat just to get let out of the cellar for a bit while all of the neighbors were away.

You know, when I buy a magazine or newspaper, I always begin reading the cover story on its second page. Like when I go to the movies, I never actually walk into the theater until the movie itself has been playing for at least 30 minutes. That's just how I am.

Well, not really; actually, I never do either of those things, but thinking that I and others do is perhaps why subby decided to link to the second page of the article.

/I love how the federal government approved some plan allowing devices to show they are pre-certified with stickers, then never approved anyone to make the farking stickers! Classic!

WHAT?? You mean a handicapped person is being treated just like anyone else??

I thought that was all they ever wanted.

/whose chagrin?

Seraphym: You know, when I buy a magazine or newspaper, I always begin reading the cover story on its second page.

Subby linked to the second page because someone had already submitted the first page. Subby was side-stepping around the filter intended to prevent repeat article submissions.

/everyone point and scowl at subby.
