Cubansaltyballs: Good riddance. Maybe now Jeff can fully appreciate what he did to other families.

I hope his life, and the rest of those f*ck's lives end up like that guy in the book "Fair Extension".

The kid was 20, had done nothing wrong (other than being fathered by an unethical POS) and died at his own hands. Why would you celebrate that?

tankjr: Kid was living the high life all based on the broken hopes and dreams of others. I'm glad he's dead, I really am.

So you jumped for joy when JFK's head was blown off, right? Joe Kennedy was an expert in insider trading and market manipulation.

Don't be an idiot.

MadAzza: FTA: Jeff Skilling's attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said there was no indication of suicide and the death appeared to be an accidental overdose. A comedy movie was queued up on the young man's computer screen, Petrocelli said.

Another Sandler-related death!

It's because some people are jealous of rich people and think all rich people screw helpless little them.

Enron is a near perfect example of people getting rich by screwing everyone. Go peddle your peasantry somewhere else, you big dummy.

You missed the key word: all. Not all rich people are Ken Lay or Jeff Skilling. You obviously disagree, so go invent something and make some money.

Wow, for all the shiat-turds in this thread, I didn't think I'd see someone come out and defend Enron. FYI - people died as a result of Enron taking plants offline during heatwaves. This is your free market bs you defend dumbass. Thanks also to the Bush administration, who at the time was letting Enron and other farks set the energy policy of the country.

Artificial energy shortages to boost profits, for one thing.

So, about two months back, Bernie Madoff's kid is dead from hanging. Now, Jeff Skilling's kid is dead from overdose.

Any bets on when Ken Lay's kid snuffs it?

Some of the most down to earth generous people I have ever met have been trust fund brats. Having a trust fund means diddly and says nothing about a person, other than they have one.

As I have no idea how this kid was involved, and benefited from, his dad's misdeeds, I am going to say it is likely he lost his allowance and lifestyle and eventually couldn't cope. He also probably got a lot of crap about his father.

All said, as far as we know, the kid didn't do anything wrong. Except OD'ing. The sins of the father.

Bunnyhat: The dude lost his son. A person is dead. This didn't fark with anyone's life, it ended it.

It is too bad for the kid. It is too bad for most of the kid's family.

But Jeffrey Skilling is an evil man, and it is not possible to hurt him bad enough. His suffering is the only upside to this.

halB: BTW: For those so interested, the reason why Skilling was in jail was because he took over when Ken Lay went into hiding, about 3 or 4 months before the Enron stock burst. During those handful of months, Skilling made two public statements that enron's liquidity was "fine, in fact it's better than fine, it's strong."

It is questionable what he was being told by those advising him, and it is questionable as to whether that is a statement of fact or not.

This is why the guy is in jail. He didn't create the financial products that led to enron's downfall and he may not have even known about it. He just vouched for their liquidity.

Bullshiat. It's been said, but read The Smartest Guys in the Room. Skilling was the young hot shot around there and everything he did was shady. Hell, he even had to hide some of his schemes from the Board because even those greedy bastards would have frowned upon his shenanigans.

My two cents: no thoughts about the man (20 is a man) killing himself but glad to see pain inflicted upon Skilling. It's a damn shame more men like him aren't living out the rest of their days behind bars watching their families absorb the bankruptcy and shame.

Kar98: shiat, I'd be kind and generous and down to earth too, if I had shiat tons of money I didn't earn.

It has nothing to do with the money, everything to do with how you're raised.

captain_heroic44: But Jeffrey Skilling is an evil man, and it is not possible to hurt him bad enough. His suffering is the only upside to this.

And this is why the founding fathers threw in that thing about cruel and unusual punishment. To make sure your mindset could never entrench itself in the law.

Dad was a total a-hole that destroyed lots of families, including his own, by his own hand. The ripple effects of that disaster were huge. I remember going to see the Corning CEO in 2008, those guys were almost wiped out by the Enron debacle. They built a whole new state-of-the-art plant for the fiber optics demand (Enron was a huge customer) that they had to then shut down entirely and the plant still sits unused, the result of Enron.

Yeah yeah, I know - CSB.

The son, not so much. Sorry to hear the kid is dead. Dad being in jail certainly didn't help.

/Did not know about Tom Skilling connection. Used to watch him on WGN as a kid.

You're the one with the childish you must be jealous of the rich comments. People hate anyone with the name Lay or Skilling because of the horrible damage they have done to at minimum hundreds of thousands of families. How dare you try and paint this as some sort of socialist class warfare.

Because it harms Jeffrey Skilling.

This is one of the few things left that can harm him.

There are a lot of people in here that are all butthurt about my feelings and statements about this. I don't get it. The stupid kid is dead. Can't bring him back. The only thing we can do is act sad about the loss or celebrate the positive side of it. From my point of view, the positive side is that Jeff Skilling now gets the full experience of what his victims went through.

Some of his victims killed themselves because he swindled them out of everything. Their loved ones lost someone and had to deal with the pain of that loss. None of them did anything wrong, except for being the sucker that Jeff Skilling could swindle out of their retirement money.

He gets to spend the rest of his days feeling just like the so many next-of-kins he left behind. Just like them, he'll have to feel regret for doing something. He'll feel responsible for them dying alone in every sense. He will have to live with the guilt that there is nothing he could do to stop it. He'll have to spend the rest of his days knowing that if he wasn't such a greedy f*ck that spent his adult life swindling good and trusting people out of their retirements, destroying their businesses, and ruining countless lives, all so he could have a vacation home and a pile of money... he would have remained a free man, who could raise his son to be good man, and could guide him through the tough spots in his life. Instead, his son died alone, without anyone to turn to. His son probably died convulsing on the floor in a state of despair and poisoned by drugs... instead of going on a fishing trip with his old man and learning from his wisdom about women.

Nothing can be done to change any of that. The kid is dead. I am not sad about it. I look at the bright side of it. This event might spark some small bit of humanity in the evil, soulless, heartless scumbag of a person that Jeff Skilling is. If it doesn't, at least he can feel the same sense of loss so many others have felt because of his greed.

Not the kid's fault, what his father did. His death is a shame.

His dad does deserve to rot in jail. Too bad Kenny Lay had his heart attack to the head.
