I don't have problems with cops being suspended with pay for accused misconduct. Presumption of innocence, and so on.

I have problems them taking their sweet-ass time, longer than half a year, to get around to dealing with it. Especially with videotape and a confession. Why wasn't this dealt with, within the week?

Can you imagine if they had to dig the barbs from the taser leads out of your ball sack?

Have any of you Farkers ever been suspended from your job with pay? I can't think of anyone I know that has. The couple of times I was asked to make myself scarce while things were being looked into, I didn't get paid, I had to use sick or vacation days. Maybe it's only cops that get that perk?

This is why, in America, they're trying so hard to pass laws making it illegal to record anything cops do. They claim it's for "public safety" reasons, but really it's to prevent people from having proof when cops do horrible things. Just think about all the times that bystanders have caused the police problems by filming them breaking the law: the Rodney King beatings, that time when the cop deliberately knocked over a passing cyclist.....and the list goes on and on.

At least in Canada, for now, they're not trying as hard to suppress this kind of evidence (though in this case it came from the cop car; wonder what would have happened had it been a bystander who filmed this guy abusing suspects.)

Getting a six month paid vacation, a slap on the hand and, at worst, a shiny new badge with another police force might still be considered an example to be imitated. So, still an exemplary record.
