Old news is old.

Paige filed a complaint alleging that the video's release harmed his reputation

I'm fairly certain that shooting himself in the foot harmed his reputation. He's shooting himself in the foot with this case about shooting himself in the foot.

How do you shoot yourself with an unloaded weapon?

2011-02-02 12:10:46 PM
Anyone else feel that the word "unloaded" in the headline ought to be in quotation marks? I mean, it wasn't unloaded at least before shooting himself in the foot...

2011-02-02 12:12:00 PM
He does take the gunshot wound like a champ to be fair, but he is still a dumbass.

to be fair, he did unload the weapon into his foot. so, technically, it was unloaded.

Actually no, Subby, I hadn't heard about this guy. But now that he's getting all butthurt over his own foolishness so many more people are going to know how he managed to maim himself in front of a bunch of schoolchildren.

I'm pretty sure you didn't help your reputation any yourself by shooting yourself in the foot in front of a classroom full of kids.

"Guns don't shoot people, loaded guns shoot people"

No, careless jackasses shoot themselves in the foot.

/seriously, accidents are accidents, but if you can't depend on someone not to shoot themselves in the foot, how can you depend on them not to shoot innocent civilians? The guy really should have been fired (after firing upon himself).

First read this as "fired on", couldn't stop laughing. Now that I haz comprehension, I don't find it as funny. Damn you funny man!

Yeah...he's the only one professional enough to carry a Glock 40. If the DEA deserves to be sue, it's by the people in the audience who were endangered by this dumbass.

You never display or hand a gun to another person until you remove the clip and visually ensure the chamber is empty. I guess they don't have to teach that to the diversity hires.

He is the only one in the DEA who is professional enough to sue for shooting himself.

I like how when a Glock is used, it is always identified as a Glock. But when any other pistol is used, it's just a 'firearm' or 'handgun' (when they don't just go ahead and call it a Glock)

How come you never hear about anyone being shot with a Kimber,Springfield or Sig Sauer?

I don't know if it harmed so much as defined his reputation.

Other then that story, what a disgusting site. I feel like I need to bathe in bleach and use steel wool for a washcloth after just clicking on the story.

2011-02-02 12:26:42 PM
If not for drugs, there would be no DEA, therefore this guy would not have gotten shot. Therefore, this is another drug-related shooting, further reason to give the DEA more funding and authority.

ha-ha-guy: He does take the gunshot wound like a champ to be fair, but he is still a dumbass.

Yeah, I'm actually disappointed to hear that's he's suing, because I was always impressed with how he handled the situation. Sure, it was stupid for it to happen in the first place, but he sucks it up, makes sure that everyone is okay, turns it into a lesson, etc.

Although it was silly for him to continue the show and reach for another gun after he's already lost the trust of the audience.

2011-02-02 12:27:11 PM
The judge is the only one in the room professional enough to dismiss this lawsuit.

Because the "invisible to x-rays" Glock was made famous in a Die Hard movie.

Replica: How do you shoot yourself with an unloaded weapon?

Rule 1 of gun safety is that all guns are always loaded.

If anyone ever tells you a gun is unloaded, don't believe it.

Even if you just unloaded the gun yourself, don't believe it. Magical firearm fairies will reload it for you, and if you do something with that gun that you wouldn't do if it was loaded, you will regret it (if you survive).

2011-02-02 12:33:16 PM
I think that this video has taught more people about the "unloaded" weapon than years of his classes could have.

So it's full of WIN!

2011-02-02 12:33:42 PM
The guy was fired after that I hope. Really, he should have been put in jail for negligently firing a weapon within city limits or something. From what I understand most everything the government does is open to public records requests, so I'd think that video is public info any way you look at it.

Not to mention that the video was filmed by a public employee using publicly owned equipment and subject to open record rules.

Well, he does sorta have a point in that he's pretty much useless as aDEA agent now since his face is plastered everywhere. But that's due to his dumb ass mistake.

I don't know anything about guitars (or any other musical instruments) but it seems like every time a specific brand is mentioned in movies it's always a Fender Stratocaster.

I liked Tosh's take on this. How hard are those kids that not one of them jumped when a gun went off right in front of them?

The moron chambers a round and then removes the magazine. He has no business handling firearms.

He's either really ballsy or just completely retarded for trying to continue the lesson after shooting himself.

JesseL: Rule 1 of gun safety is that all guns are always loaded.

Just repeating, as it cannot be said enough. Just get into the mindset that any gun you encounter is loaded and never question that. The gun in our bedroom safe had been cleaned just before being put there and the magazine hasn't been put back into it. I firmly believe it's loaded and will treat it as such.

Going back to the video, the gun's handed to him with the slide back, as it should be. This is to allow the recipient of the gun to ensure that it is unloaded before receiving it (or at the very least before doing anything with it). He's so busy grandstanding and looking macho to look before he lets the slide go forward.

I do believe he handled the immediate aftermath very very well. However, he'd just shot himself in the foot. Trying to continue the demonstration was both stupid AND put the class at some risk, as he is now bleeding in their classroom.

'Twould be a whole lot more than that, since the photograph shows what appear to be around fifty rounds of .30 calibre ammunition. .50 calibre is a farkload bigger.
