The Ginger Man is awesome. We have a few of them in DFW. My favorite is logo pint night, where you buy the featured beer and get to keep the glass. I don't think they do that in the NY location though.

Bah, gingerman has sucked for years. Their staff has no idea what they are pouring half the time, they don't take care of their taps, they are overpriced, and half the stuff they claim to have "just ran out". Its like the Brickskeller of NYC.

You want a good beer bar, come down to blind tiger one day.

I pretty much only get the Belgian stuff, most of which is in bottles and not available most places in NYC. Screw the micro-brew crap they have.

Yea but if you are going belgian you are far better served at burp or belgian room.

i'm always dissapointed at ginger every time I end up there. Which is a shame, because that place used to be great.

Wait-a-minute. Where is Belgian room and why hasn't anybody told me about it?! (Other than I only just discovered the true beauty of Belgian beer last September.)

Its next door (actually sort of connected) to Hop Devil down in the LES. Maybe a 10 minute walk from McSorley's and Burp.

Good food too.

Holy crap. Thank you for this information. I am going to check it out. I am not a huge fan of Burp because the times I have been there it has been "Belgian style" beers brewed here as opposed to actual Belgian beers, and they just were not as good.

I hated that shiat..., "Sorry! We're Out!" Well, it wouldn't a problem if I hadn't spent all that time choosing the beer. It was like a unicorn store.

They closed it, BTW, and replaced with another bar which has a smaller beer list, but they actually have what you ask for.

Burp changed owners about....ohhhhh....3 years or so ago? Might have been a little longer. They used to take the Belgian thing real serious under the last guys, as in, bartenders dressed in robes, incense, etc. The shooshing thing there used to be more than just a joke.

the guys who bought it, which are connected with Jimmy's 43, try to push it more as a craft place now than anything else. They do have a really great bottle list though if you ask to see it. I have no idea how the system works, or where it comes from, but if you order something from it, they pull out a walkee talkee, and like 3 minutes later some dude shows up out of nowhere with it.

Its the damndest thing. One day I'm putting a tail on the guy just to see where he goes.

We used to have a running joke there that the first beer I would order, they would never have.

Which was funny, because as time went by, I would intentionally try and pick something that you would reasonably expect them to have just to disprove the myth.

"sorry, just ran out of newcastle"
