THIS IS MADNESS

Step 1: Do good at job.
Step 2: Get raise.
Step 3: Profit!

/Warning: Profit only happens if your net worth is greater than your debt.

Chief Justice Roberts usually releases a statement on New Year's Day (=slow news day) complaining about Judges' salaries, how a clerk fresh out of law school with only one year's experience at the Supreme Court can go out and make a higher salary than a U.S. Supreme Court Justice....

It's called PUBLIC SERVICE.

Don't like something about, then quit. There are plenty of qualified people eager to serve.

/just sayin'

I wonder if that salary survey included bribes and kickbacks?

Judges, like politicians (and many others)= OVERPAID/UNDERWORKED.

Please, deadbeats, get a job where the pay is commensurate with your skills.

I.E.: Politicians, $8.00/hr, Judges, $12.00/hr.

Of course judges think they are underpaid...

Those 3-5 hour workdays can be hectic

Studies show that, I'm not getting paid enough.
Its true.

Knight without armor: Chief Justice Roberts usually releases a statement on New Year's Day (=slow news day) complaining about Judges' salaries, how a clerk fresh out of law school with only one year's experience at the Supreme Court can go out and make a higher salary than a U.S. Supreme Court Justice...

Roberts is as much of a douchebag as his smug Opie-grew-up-into-a-Sunday-school-teacher appearance implies. He knew what the salary was long before he accepted the job, and for him to pretend that the number on his W2 accurately reflects the total benefit he gets out of being a SCJ suggests that he's self-servingly disingenuous, too.

I have yet to meet a judge who can only afford a Ford Escort to get around in.

They're underpaid, and yet (in many jurisdictions) they work like hell to get elected. In other jurisdictions, they still work to become judges. They want to be judges.

Supply and demand. Obviously, there are more people who want to be judges than there are available positions. Ergo, Roberts in particular should realize that judges are overpaid.

Anyone who wants to be on the Supreme Court to make money is someone who should absolutely not be on the Supreme Court. Roberts, frankly, is an ass, in any case. But, then, a lot of people in this country (including many members of Congress) seem to think that if you're nominated, then you're entitled to be appointed, and it's just mean to deny you your rightful position.

Of course, a similar logic is how Bush Jr got 'elected' by the Supreme Court the first time around, too. Go figure.

Cut their pay till they fix the criminal system.

OK Class: The judge let 10 rapists out of prison last year. Since then, 4 of those rapists raped again. Do you ...
a) Rape the judge who let them out.
b) Rape your sister.
c) Fire all the judges and start over.
d) All of the above.

OK Class: Repeat offenders were allowed to repeat their crimes because...
A) It is more profitable employing lawyers, judges, cops, therapists, priests and others.
B) Mean spirited asshat criminals run the legal system.
C) Judges are stupid.
D) All of the above.

They're overpaid as it is with the 'benefits' and all, ya know?

This is beautiful. Here, in a nutshell, is why it doesn't work. If the judges get a raise, you can bet your ass that the legislators who did it will give themselves one at the same time. Our government has become a self-serving class of career bureaucrats. George Mason's term "public servant" has become a bad joke.
