(CNN)   Qatar, as a dry run for World Cup 2018, hosts a flawless Asian Cup final. Just kidding, they denied thousands of ticket holders at the request of the Royal Family, beat the crowds with batons, and confiscated cameras recording the chaos   (sportsillustrated.cnn.com) divider line 56

Actually subby, Qatar denying ticket holders entry to the 2018 World Cup is the correct thing to do. You should read your own article.

I had Qatar once. My nose ran like a sprinter and I horked up quarts of phlegm.

I swear, if some police goon hits me with a baton while waiting for the World Cup, I'm going to fall to the ground and clutch my knee in agony.

An Al-Jazeera reporter told organizers Sunday at a press conference that one of is television crews filming the crowds had cameras confiscated and the shots deleted. Another friend shooting the scene had her camera ripped from her hands and had to be taken to hospital, the reporter said.

Not so fast, Qatarpologists.

1) Hahah Qatar. Haha FIFA. Looks like you'll get what you begged for, a complete farking failure.

2) Not so fast there, subby, you also get a fail. Qatar's "hosting" the 2022 World Cup.

Should have had it in Egypt.. would have been a lot more interesting.

BTW when you host something in a police state expect police state type activities to go on.

F*ck you, Qatar.

OK, I can deal with that.

By the way, congratulations to Versus for using an 8-year-old Christian rock song to advertise this game.

The mic'd goalies are the best part of the NHL All-Star game. Marty Turco a few years ago was hilarious.

Ward is pretty good too.

We're NOT gonna protest (because if we do we'll be beaten silly with batons and thrown in jail).

Cam Ward is probably very close to cursing on live television.

Hell, I know I would be. They've scored all four goals in less than 10 minutes. DA-YUM.

Who is actively trying to make this a joke?

There will be no yellow or reds.

Instead they'll first chop off a toe and then the whole foot.

Danny Briere, deemed unworthy of the All-Star game until Crosby was scratched.
Picked 6th by his peers in the draft.
Scores at least 2 goals during the game.

Good eye, NHL!

Heard a lot of the people standing outside didn't even have tickets. The others showed up late after the game was started.

Everyone who has ever been to a sports game in their life knows to show up early because they have a lot of people to check.

Maybe over there in Italy they don't check every fan, and that's why you get Serbian hooligans with box cutters and flares trying to demolish your stadium and burn it to the ground.

Also that fireworks display was fantastic. There are some videos on youtube of it.

The Asian Cup isn't a world cup anyway. I'm glad they are working out the small kinks before the big stage. They have over decade to get things right. That's the only thing that actually went wrong in the tournament, that a few late stragglers weren't let in, and Qatar is already talking about refunding them.

Show up on time for the game, and there probably wouldn't have been a problem. And no, showing up when the game is kicking off is not on time.

Got it - I'll pencil in "DON'T FARKING BOTHER GOING TO QATAR FOR THE WORLD CUP" on my calendar, then. As will, hopefully, most of the world. There's no point in spending thousands of dollars to buy World Cup tickets, make the appropriate reservations, deal with the bureaucracy associated with international travel, fly to Qatar, only to be told that the effort was wasted - or even risk being told that.

Bingo. Also, this doesn't excuse the reports that fans were not allowed to leave the stadium at game's end until an hour afterward, nor destruction of cameras and other recording devices by police.
