aearra: Any mention of how to avoid the malaria?

Take your pills use deet, but really if you are out of your home country take your water security seriously, just drink beer, brush your teeth with beer and don't drink mixed drinks with ice cubes in it, just ice cold beer from a bottle that you opened yourself, follow these rules and while everyone else will be hitting the floor due to diarrhea you will be hitting the floor because you are drunk

The DR has come along way over the last 30 years.

I was in Puerto Platte in 1981 and it had a lot of work to do. Beautiful place with centuries of history.

Sammy Sosa as well as other high-profile folks from there have done a lot as far as helping with better housing, education, jobs and improving the situation of folks in poverty. There not where they need to be but they are light-years ahad of say Haiti and some other places in the Caribbean and Central America.

How about making travel to DR cheaper than Puerto Rico. Booked a trip last month, but PR was so much cheaper.

Some people go to the Dominican Republic to consort with female or male prostitutes.

News at 11 is next!

The FTA calls the country the "Dominican Republican" and then doesn't identify the location of the cholera by city.
Great reporting there.

FTA: But there's probably not much reason to worry, says Dr. Larry Madoff...

Even more reason to trust them: Madoff is such a trustworthy, household name.

After vacationing there earlier this month the advice I have is. Just stick to the potable water for consumption and brushing your teeth. Also keep your mouth shut while showering, and bring plenty of hand sanitizer. Oh probiotics didn't hurt either.

I worked in Egypt for a year, commuting back and forth from Tel Aviv every week. We took our own water with us, and were told to use bottled water even for brushing our teefs. They brought down all our food, also, including fresh fruits and veggies, and used our own water to wash that, too. After that, cholera and malaria don't scare me.

I wonder if they sent the supplies by truck or whether they sent down a second plane every week. Weird, now that I think of it, that I was never curious. Probably trucks, because they were also supplying all the embassy families.

And that's nothing. The Foreign Ministry also sends out every crumb of food to the entire delegation serving in India, which is several hundred people, if not in the thousands including families, partly because of the kosher requirement and partly because of the hygiene needs. I'm sure they do the same for other countries. And I'm sure other countries, which have far larger delegations, do the same - like America and Great Britain, which have thousands of people deployed around the world. It's a monolithic logistic effort, when you think of it.

You jest. Limbaugh is past erections.

On the other hand is it wrong to lie naked in a bathtub and let young boys shower with their warm yellow rain?

Cholera's fairly easy to avoid. Filter your water through a sari cloth.

I went to the DR once... Altos de Chavron is cool, although downtown La Romana seems like a good place to get shot, and I survived Detroit.

Headed there in a few months. Preparing to drink freshly cracked beers and smoke fantastic cigars.
