Sometimes it's as much knowing which notes not to sing. Unnecessary vocal theatrics make it all about you. It should be about the song.

my wife sings and has sung professional before in back up, choir stuff, etc.. She says people who do that constantly are covering up the fact that a song is out of their range or that they cannot hold a note for longer than a few measures.

Is America the only country where singers "interpret" the national anthem, as opposed to just sing the damn thing the way it's written? It's not just a race thing. Country singers who do the anthem are just as bad.

I've heard good.. well, black versions of the SSB. Southern Gospel action going on, not a white face visible, and the old rag is just hammered down with a joyous thunder that is a glory to behold.

This is crap. It is, however, wonderful, traditional crap. Students are supposed to mess this one up.
