As fun as it is to bash on the subject of TFA, I have to agree with him - this is some crap, and there's absolutely no response from FB?

Foul.

Also, now that you can't use TEH FACEBOOK, maybe you could go outside and do something instead of sitting at home masturbating to the latest tweetspace you put on your facewallville?

Is it me or does he come off as a whiny little biatch in this article? I thought Muslims were supposed to invoke all holy jihaad when confronted with injustice? All this guy's doing is whining about it.

That's because he's an American, tried and true. A farkwad from some third world shiat hole would have built a C4 bomb ... this guy sues and whines like a little biatch. Yep, he's American alright.

I know, since they make it near impossible to quit the damn site, how much much of a cockup is he?

Heck, there's even he who must not be named doing what he always does, on facebook.

No doubt. Hell, in Egypt when the govt. took their facebook away they ripped the paving stones up from the streets and threw them at the cops.

Now that gets things done.

They can take our twitter-feeds, but they'll never take our FACEBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!

I'm not sure I see a problem with this. Facebook is privately owned, and the owner is graciously allowing random-ass people from all over the internet to come over and play with his belonging. If he doesn't want to let you do that, there is literally no reason he can't revoke that privilege.

Hell, if I owned Facebook, I would ban people all the time for no reason. I'd have a button on my desk, and I'd hit it a bunch of times and it would ban random people. The motto wold be "Everybody is always banned." We'd have Ban Days. They would happen whenever I felt like it. If anybody complained I would ban them. If they didn't complain I would also ban them.

2011-01-28 01:46:19 PM
I had an FB friend (friend of a friend IRL, she seemed funny at first but turned out to be a psycho so I unfriended her) who was a Muslim who often said some incendiary things. Her account was disabled for a while, so she started another account, and said it was because another person who was a conservative Muslim (who didn't like her criticisms of certain aspects of Islam) who complained about her and told FB she said things she didn't. She ended up getting her original account back.

Anyway, there seems to be more sensitivity when it comes to things related to Muslims. And this guy may have said some incendiary things. But seems FB should at least explain to him in detail what he did.

Of course, maybe they have, and he's just a shiat-stirring douchebag. But if you really do have 300+ friends you regularly communicate, plan events and trade pictures with via FB, and you're suddenly cut off without explanation, it would be a pretty big pain in the ass.

I expect that, as usual in this type of situation, there's more to the story that we're not hearing.

I think the issue is more that they never told him why they did it when asked. They also seemed to ignore his requests in a rather blatant manor.

I also see this as a test of who really owns the material that you put up online. I know there is always talk about privacy but what privacy should one expect if one is relinquishing ownership of anything that is allowed on a social site.

Yeah, they totally get to do that. No harm no foul. They don't need to disclose a reason, they don't even need to have a reason.

CSB:
I have a friend who went to Japan to teach English and he reluctantly set up a FB account, being overseas and all. In his original profile, trying to be goofy, he put that he was 8 years old or something goofy like that. Eventually FB saw it and they disabled his account because of it. It was funny at first, until he realized they were serious and were not going to reactivate his account. So, he set up a new one. Problem solved.
