Utah should be Polygamy Porter, why have just one?

2011-01-27 11:11:42 AM
Holy God they actually have Diamond Bear on that map.
It's pretty good beer, too, for those of you passing through Arkansas.

2011-01-27 11:14:44 AM
Abita is on there. Picked up some seasonal Mardi Gras Bock this weekend. Mmmmmmmmmmm.....

I call BS on their Florida assumptions. Yuengling is awesome! (new window with age verification, so unless you're into it, just take my word for it)

2011-01-27 11:17:34 AM
No surprise they have Yuengling for Pennsylvania. It's a fine lager, but PA produces a LOT better beer. Erie Brewing Company, Troegs, Straub to name a fw.

2011-01-27 11:19:11 AM
Hahaha.. West Virginia is Natty Light - true, dat.

2011-01-27 11:19:33 AM
Spoetzl is indeed the correct answer for Texas, but Natty Green's Brewing Co. > Carolina Brewing Co. here in NC.

2011-01-27 11:20:15 AM
Four Loko is a beer?

2011-01-27 11:21:33 AM
Arizona should be Negra Modelo...

2011-01-27 11:23:52 AM
They got Oregon right.

2011-01-27 11:28:54 AM
Would have went with Gennessee for NY. That's what everyone seemed to drink when i was there at least.

2011-01-27 11:29:36 AM
nekom: No surprise they have Yuengling for Pennsylvania.

They should have had Rolling Ro...
I mean Duquesn...
I mean, yeah, Yuengling.

/At least Penn Brewery is back.

2011-01-27 11:31:58 AM
They got California right!

Narragansett? Uhhhh... The 1970's called and they want their beer back.

I like how North Dakota is not only Miller Lite, but it's a Miller Lite box folded into the shape of a cowboy hat as if the label itself wasn't enough.

/rather see Wisconsin as Leinenkugel, but whatevs.

2011-01-27 11:36:58 AM
Yuengling is alright, but it can't beat Victory.

2011-01-27 11:38:16 AM
Sam Adams? Really? We have so many better local brews than that. Sam Adams is when you're in a dive bar and the only other thing on tap is Bud.

2011-01-27 11:38:17 AM
NewportBarGuy: Narragansett? Uhhhh... The 1970's called and they want their beer back.

Ya, but now that 'Gansetts are back, and given their old rep, of course they're gonna use it.

\and no matter how little I like most of them, you had to know before even finishing the headline what Mass. beer was....
\\Sam Summer FTW!

Many states got saddled with really shiatty beer, but I'm happy to see a bottle of Three Floyd's Dark Lord on Indiana.

2011-01-27 11:42:49 AM
Hey alright, Free State Beer, good stuff.

2011-01-27 11:42:59 AM
Great Lakes? Really?

Screw you.

Hudepohl-Schoenling for the win.

/We dropped that shiat in WWII to keep the troops happy. How many of your regional microbrewschits can say that?

Wight Power: /rather see Wisconsin as Leinenkugel, but whatevs.

They do make some good beers.

Great Lakes makes a damn fine beer. Glad they got that right for Ohio.

I'm surprised Colorado didn't get Coors.

Not upset, mind you. Just surprised.

Yesterday I confused Oregon and Washington, which means I confused bestiality with homelessness, but it looks like BOTH of these states have delicious beers I'd like to try.

But not while sleeping in an ally with a sheep.

I make that mistake all the time.

With a fine and rich tradition that you can only get from 25 year old breweries.

Virginia is PBR? Blah. This is why we can't have nice things.

2011-01-27 11:51:48 AM
I kind of agree with Shiner (Spoetzl), but only because I'm drinking their only great beer at this moment (burp)...Hefeweizen.

Their Mesquite smoke beer is vomit in a bottle.

I'm not much of a beer snob, I just don't think understand how if you are going to choose a beer for a state, it should be something with a heritage within that state, and a history going back more than 20 years.

Maybe I'm just deluded that way, as a lot of my moms side of the family worked for Hudy back before the Morelein crazies set in.

MGD 64? Author can fark right off.

//for a beer blogger, author must be lazy as all hell if they just "imagine" what 3+ states brew and drink

Considering the craft beer revolution is barely 20 years old, that restriction is a bit of a stretch.

Where does it say craft beer as a requirement? I see PBR on there for christs sake.

Oh, and Bell's in Michigan is the right choice, too.

They have Goose Island for my state. I've been very disappointed in their line of beers. The 312 Wheat is drinkable, but their stouts suck. I wish Yuengling was available here. I got to try a couple of varieties a couple of weeks ago and they were both good, but they don't sell the brand anywhere near here.

It doesn't, but my point is that if you're restricted to breweries that go back more than 20 years, you're vastly limiting your options. There are now more breweries in the US than there were before Prohibition, but 20 years ago that number was probably 1/4 or less of what it is today.

I'm not saying it should be a requirement, but it should be a factor for comparison.

Miller for Wisconsin? Seriously? If you're going the crap mass-produced route, and Leine's is not considered, at least use "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous".

It's not about being better brews. You have to look at the nationwide success of Sam Adams. We're talking about representing your state, not sitting in a highly specialized brew pub in Mass.

I'd walk over a case of Guinness to have a Wexfords.

love their beers (edmond fitzgerald is almost always in my fridge somewhere), but for some reason i thought they were a michigan beer. it's nice to avoid the tough decision whether to be satisfied or angry about bell's being michigan's beer.

Ok, you do that. I'll be at the highly specialized brew pub. :P
