She's great live. I went to see her Sunday Night in Nashville. Good story too. Poor girl with diabetes from an abusive makes good after busking subway stations in Chicago.

C'mon Farkmins give her a greenlight.

She was the ONLY reason I watched last years American Idol. She has an incredible voice - reminds me a little of Janis Joplin without the Jack.

Who wrote the song? That's all I care about so I can go see em at the Blue Bird

she's not the typical "Idol". Her cd is almost all her originals.
I think there's 2 songs on it that aren't hers.

I actually like a lot of her other stuff more than this first single. the cd is well worth the price.

That's great to hear. Wonder how hard it is to grab a ticket to see her in Nashville?

well she's not playing a steady gig there this was a quick one show booking that happened spur of the moment. they only announced it maybe a week before she was there. it was for a Lightning 100 radio show concert series at 3rd and Lindsley
She had to come to town and do promos ,interviews with CMT and the like. She's there the whole week then going to Atl where she has a by-invite-only private show for the radio station there.

I expect some tour info to be coming soon though. She's doing SXSW and some stuff in San Diego and LA this spring.

here's where I became a fan. I saw this audition and then went to youtube and found this

I'm a minute into it. Does the song stop being typical cliched Nashville pop-country bullshiat at some point?

You made it further than I. By all appearances, this is for the Idol flash in the pan crowd.

I learned how to play that song in less than 2 minutes.

Took me longer to tune my acoustic.

Hey, I'm for tolerance and diversity, but um, the linked video is not safe for breakfast. Subby, we really should have been warned.

7 seconds in WTF? 8 seconds in I threw up. 11 seconds in, same thing.

Pfft, the only people in Nashville who care about country music are record execs and tourists.

If you can't make it in pop music the country music industry would love to have you.

Crystal Bowersox: coming to a county fair near you.

I'm happy for the girl but let's be honest. At least half of us have won country music awards.

Almost as easy as receiving a Platinum record in the '80s.

All good. Just couldn't see a Tx country list w/o them on it. Will see them Fri night in Tulsa. Afraid they are about to blow up big. Were just on Leno and will be on Conan the end of the month.

judging by her i guess the new country is having piercings and a tat covering your entire back as you sit in a sun dress and sing about a white woman in a white outfit holding the hand of a little white girl.

I'm more of a jazz & weird rock guy, but I do like a few country-ish artists:

BR549
Trent Summar & The New Row Mob
Kentucky Headhunters (the more obscure stuff)
Southern Culture On The Skids
Jason & The Scorchers
The Great Divide
The Jayhawks
Joe Ely
Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance

... and maybe a few others. Top 40 country, not so much. It bores me.

/Top-40 country radio DJ. Go figure.

IMHO one of the most under rated bands of all time.

I just got into them. I think they are great but (in my opinion) the lead singer sounds alot like TMBG. It has taken me a while to get over that. Whether it is true or not I am not sure but it is something I have had to overcome when listening to their music. Great stuff though.

/NoMeansNo is the most underrated band of all time BTW

Tommorow The Green Grass was excellent IMO.

Cross Canadian Ragweed is the best thing going today.

Any place I should start with them?

Eh, the lyrics were clumsy and the guitar was boring. Over all, bad song. She could have done a lot better.

Maybe start with the albums Wrong, 0 + 2 = 1, and Sex Mad. And then listen to everything else. They are a great Canadian three piece.

come on now

Well I liked it and she is pretty easy on the eyes as well.

Saw a band called L'Angelus on the Marty Stuart Show the other night. They were hands down the freshest country music act I've seen in years.

I like your choices. Saw Jason & The Scorchers twice last year after over 20 years. Gonna see SCOTS again this summer. Can't wait.

If I was a hardcore country fan, I'd be personally offended by the fact that so many American Idols think it's easier to tackle the country charts than it is to take on the rock and pop charts. People that have no connection to country whatsoever are coming into the genre to make a quick buck because they can't hack it against the Chris Daughtrys and Kelly Clarksons.
