what a bullshiat story.... the file separated from the handle and flew behind the student into another kids forehead?

yeah, right....

2011-01-24 06:10:49 PM
And THAT, kids ... is why you don't file share!

I hope it didn't strike the language center of his brain; if it did, that kid is going to have a rasp the rest of his life.

ZOMG?!? They allow files in school?!? Since when did zero tolerance become some tolerance???

That would be rough.

Yes. Children's files. Or, pedof....nevermind.

Uh oh! Uh oh! Uh oh! Do I take it out or leave it in? Do I take it out or leave it in?

No sh*t.
2 surgeories to fix the wound?

Somebody's attorney is happy happy.

I _hate_ the sound a file makes -- though I admit it never occurred to me a lodge a complaint in such a way.

Art class to be canceled until anything more dangerous than library paste & dull little round-nosed scissors are removed.

bighasbeen: Uh oh! Uh oh! Uh oh! Do I take it out or leave it in? Do I take it out or leave it in?

DO NOT REMOVE IMPALED OBJECT! Impaled objects create a puncture wound and then tamponade (put pressure on) that same wound, controlling bleeding. However, as with every rule, there are exceptions. Impaled objects may be removed if:

* the victim needs CPR and the object is in the way
* the object is in the way of the victim's airway

Done in one, but thanks for the puns.

smart student, let the doctors at the ER remove the file.

I could really go for a tall cool glass of tamponade right now.

This one time, in metal class....

You may all think this is funny, but art class can be very dangerous. My fiance, Fawn Liebowitz, tragically died in a pottery kiln explosion.

I don't think I should be alone tonight.

2011-01-24 09:23:19 PM
The EMTs reported the victim was rasping for breath when they arrived on scene.

2011-01-24 09:24:08 PM
I LOLed ... loud and repeatedly. Good thing I'm home.

Aisle seat; smoking, please.

But I have to say: You're working on a piece of jewelry; the enemy is four to five feet behind you; you embed a jewelry-sized file an inch into their forehead?

Yer doin' it wrong!

And, clearly, there's more to the story than we're getting.

So, a year from now when woodworking and metal shop classes are gone from all high schools, can we look back on this date and remember fondly the incident that sparked the ban?

You actually think high schools still offer woodshop and metalworking, grandpa?

I could see it happening if you were using the file for some lathe work, were bearing down too hard, and the handle *broke...*

but on a piece of jewelry? yeah, I don't think we're getting the true story here.

/has used many a file with no handle at all

Came for "I saw what you did there"

Leaving unsatisfied.

2011-01-24 09:37:39 PM
What a joke! I find it HIGHLY unlikely it just flew at such force it was able to go 1 inch in. That's through bone. The kids was stabbed in the head.

2011-01-24 09:37:41 PM
Sounds more like a case of file shearing to me.

I had a kid stab me in the forehead with a pencil in grade school. I had a faint blue-grey dot there for decades afterwards.

could've been worse than file sharing. If he'd been turned around he may have had a disk partition.

2011-01-24 09:45:34 PM
Well, I'm out of pun ideas. Might as well get hammered.

I think the headline is trying a bit too hard for a HOTY nomination. Hope the kid's OK though.

Exactly. I can't fathom what motion would impart enough energy into the file to make it impale someone while still being useful for jewelry.

Unless the jewelry is really a large art project and the student was just beating the hell out of it with the file, which would be improper use still.
