Someone should take those kids and grind them up
into hamburger.

Hmm, the article says he was with a friend, I wonder where he was?

That old lady was right. The evildoers are now using scooter to commit their crimes.

The scooter is now the gangsters weapon of choice and transportation of choice!

Yeah, I don't care either...

There's a guy on campus here who rides one of those little razor scooter things around. I want to yell and ask what the hell he's doing. He has to bend over until his backs nearly parallel to the ground, and there's no way he saves energy using the stupid thing.

scooters are bad......mmmmmmk?

Well, your mother always told you those things were dangerous...

VERY interesting writing... Note how the attackers (aged 17 and 18) are labeled as 'teens' while the victim (aged 18) is a 'man.' Interesting how that makes the attackers seem like punks (which they are) and the victim like he is some influential, upstanding member of society (which he may or may not be).

You're misreading it, LA.

"Robert Hoffman, 18, of Hayward and two 17-year-old Alameda boys"

One of the attackers, Hoffman, is of age. Therefore, his name can be published in the press.

The scooter as a weapon of mass transportation?

At 17 and 18 (well, 18 when they get to the Big House) these kids are going to find prison to be a, er, demanding experience.

I've personally seen 3 pretty nasty fights where those farkin' things are the weapon. Two at the basketball court near my house and one on the MUNI #14 (bus from hell). But if a razor scooter bludgeoning is the worst thing that happens, it's a pretty uneventful ride on the 14 (other san franciscans can back me up). I swear every kid around here has one of those, or even worse, a motorized version. There's about 10 kids who ride those lawnmover engine driven contraptions up and down the street all night. Makes me want to douse the street with oil, a la spyhunter.

Wow, when did i become the crazy old man yelling at the kids. Oh yeah, about when those damn things came out...

ironoctopus not oil. Caltrops.

Maybe you'll get lucky with the oil and they'll fall down. But are they going to be able to afford fixing their tires every day?

Please don't actually do the above. Someone did that at the Ironman triathalon up in Coeur d'alene this year and it could have been very nasty, but everyone got lucky.

ahhh, caltrops. I knew those spikey things had a name. The only problem is, I think the tires are made of solid rubber. Maybe a very taught, low to the ground wire, about shin height....elctrified.

LordAries: I was thinking the same thing, but after another minute of thought I came to this conclusion: Someone who is eighteen is still technically a teen, but that's also the age where we generally begin referring to someone as a man (your experience with this may vary). That combined with the pyramid style of writing generally used with articles, where one ..

I seriously got bored writing that. OK, it was just easier for the writer. 'nuff said.

The teens were heard shouting "I want my two dollars" during the attack.

Did anyone else but me notice that the writing style used in the article was extremely juvenile and the overall quality was simply horrendous?

I work at the Sharper Image, where those stupid razor scooters are sold. They are down to about 20 bucks. Oh, and the electric versions are crap.

I bet he could, Ogre.

I think KOTD may be the best Martial Arts movie ever made.
