While I don't wear mine for 15 months without washing, jeans are meant to be worn for a while without washing.

I'm being 100% serious in asking this questions here (god help me)

I've been trying to break in a pair of those raw denim pants for like 2 years now, I've tried everything, any suggestions?

Meh. Try wearing the same skivvies for 15 months, now. Or try wearing them jeans without skivvies for 15 months. The whole town will be torn between burning you at the stake to get rid of the smell, or just selling tickets on when you spontaneously ignite.

Unless you get something dirty on them or get hot and sweaty while wearing them pants can definitely be worn more than once without washing.

Socks, undies, and shirts not so much

I usually wear jeans three or four times before washing them.

Unless I go out in them, jeans are like sponges when it comes to smoke, they'll be stinking of smoke after just 10 minutes inside a club.

2011-01-19 10:43:26 PM
I think he should have weighed them before wearing, and then at the very end.

I wore the same pair of jeans for 15 years until they fell apart. Luckily I was at home when that happened. I think the problem is that I washed them too much...

Why there might be fewer bacteria:

"There were times when it had a bad odour, like in the seventh month," Le said. "That's when I threw it in the freezer and magically when it came out it was odourless."

Also, why i weep for the farking future.

Magic?

I haven't washed my jeans for 15 months because that would be too long.

And as an added bonus, it infused all the food in the freezer with crotch stink. Yummy.

Are you therefore advocating that instead of washing my clothes, I can simply freeze them? I imagine freezing them is more energy efficient.

Why yes, that's exactly it. Rather than discussing the article at hand, i was actually speaking to you, a person i have never met, written to or otherwise encountered before.

Because i am magic.

Run to your dresser right now and you will find a tiny, multicolored pony named Mister Sprinkles.

Go, do it now.

That's about normal for dry denim enthusiasts. Yes, they all put them in the freezer like that and use Febreeze in spite of the whole fact that Febreeze shouldn't come into contact with skin.

Sometimes, they sit in an ice-cold bath tub wearing them when they first buy 'em.

My rule of thumb is I wear jeans for one week or until I spill something on them, whichever comes first. Then I wash them.

Definitely. Back in college, I followed a pattern of wearing two pairs of jeans: one would be for long walks and my manual-labor job, the other would be for going to class and other situations where scent should be minimal. Then every Saturday I would wash both. I would also wash my socks, boxers, undershirts and regular shirts on Saturdays as well. It usually came out to be two or three washer loads, as the dorm washers were small. And yet I'd see other people fit all their weekly clothes into one washer load, either they wore the same clothes every day or they didn't understand the concept of overfilling machines.

And I'm sure they didn't appreciate the copious amounts of bleach I used for my whites, as those machines were somewhat decrepit and didn't flush their systems all the way. But that's what they get for taking my wet clothes out of the dryer so they could use it on my dime.

Most cloth is not a very good conductor for transferring bacteria unless wet.

As long as people wear underpants, you can certainly go several wears without washing but 15 months is nasty

2011-01-19 11:06:12 PM
There are cheap jeans and there are expensive jeans but there is NEVER a reason to stink in public if you're not homeless. Wearing jeans and not washing them is plain stupid.

2) Is your chair a bean bag chair
2a) if so are you eating cheetos

My science teacher in high school wore the same outfit every.single.day. He wore the same jeans and for like a 4 day period he switched to some shiatty khaki pants then reverted back to the jeans. The imprint of his wallet was hilarious.

He also had a huge-ass gut and one day a button from one of his sweaters just ricocheted across the room.

You know how sometimes you're a cynical asshole most of the time but there is always that one person you just feel bad for? That was him.

Why do that, when you could sell them to people like the dope in TFA?

As for the content itself, the freezing killed the bacteria causing the stench. It won't remove all of the funk, but if you're conducting an experiment for science, you should probably have tested 'em before you did that, or not done it at all.

Not a problem if you make sure you A. Wear clean underwear EVERY DAY WITHOUT FAIL, and B. Wash your ass EVERY DAY/TWICE A DAY.
Most of the dirt will come from the outside, not the inside.
