Scary but not surprising. Bull sharks can survive in fresh and salt water. In fact in the U.S they have been found in rivers in states that are on the Gulf, in New Jersey and Florida. I'm surprised that this hasn't been reported in the U.S in those areas when there is a big flood.

We generally say "HOLY F*CK". It's all about the inflection.

This is a serious issue, yet the first thing that comes to mind when reading the headline is a 'Land Shark!' gag.

Thank you, Fark, for being such a terrible influence.

Yeah, they're a semi-regular news story when one's seen in the Brisbane River, or even in a creek. My son's 5th-grade teacher also claims to have seen a dolphin in the river, but eh. I claim she is genetically closest to the humble watermelon and once tried to fondle my schwanz behind a grocer's store in '98.

I was sick and lethargic this weekend so I watched a lot of TV. Deep Blue Sea was on (horrible farking movie) and I watched a bit of it in anticipation of the epic Samuel L. Jackson death scene.....and they censored it!! They completely took it out of the damn movie!

Forget gulf states, bull sharks have been caught in the Mississippi River as far north as Missouri/Illinois

That man should wait for at least thirty minutes after eating shark before swimming off the coast of Austrailia.

I like that the local butcher had two politicians vouching for him. Reminds me of the Simpson's episode.

"That's a bloody outrage, it is! I want to take this all the way to the Prime Minister."

Also, sharks have never had a war. Who are the real sharks? You can't hug a child with nuclear arms.

Plus ever so often ome jackass dumps one in as a hoax. In 2008 someone dumped a blacktip in over by Grand Rapids but it didn't last long due to the fact blacktips can't handle fresh water.

Bull sharks are fairly common in brackish and shallow waters. I used to live in eastern NC, and it was not unusual to pull up a bull shark in a long net around Wright Memorial Bridge in Currituck County, which is over 30 miles by water (new window) from the nearest ocean inlet (Oregon Inlet, in Dare County).
