(Fark)   Mike kindly moved Fark to the old server so you could at least Fark (albeit slowly) this weekend. New motherboard en route. His birthday is 7/18   (amazon.com) divider line 75

Mike thank you for the work, but there's no way in a burned out Fark server in hell will I get you Half Life 2 and Doom 3 before me. Surprised you don't already have the Animatrix. And I admire someone who would want Koyaanisqatsi / Powaqqatsi (2 Pack) DVD, but a movie without dialog ? Man, I barely made it through the only one of those I watched. Good list you have there, though.

Today is my birthday! NO really.

and it's going slow as Fark (pun intended). Slow Fark is kinda like skunk weed, you'll use it cause you really need it.

I feel sorry for the 56k modem farkers.

Get well soon Fark.

This site could use better CSS. For the love of God, buy this man Eric Meyer on CSS.

Just lookit all the cool things you can do with CSS (IE / Win users need not apply for this use of advanced standards-compliant HTML & CSS).

I think that the point was not to see who else was born on that day, but to buy Mike stuff in order to show gratitude.. Heh.

2003-07-14 03:38:24 PM
Thanks Mike. If I didn't have Fark at work, I'd have to, well, work. And that's no fun.

Although I'm too poor to buy b-day presents, if you're ever up in Detroit, look me up and I'll buy you a beer.

Hrm. My name's Mike, and my birthday is on the 18th too.

AHHHHH...GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

2003-07-14 03:53:55 PM
gee Mike I hope someone actually buys some stuff for you. With mob mentality here, it would have been more realistic to ask for larger amounts of cheaper items. Then even I would have spent some.

2003-07-14 03:55:21 PM
MUCHO Gousto!!!

2003-07-14 03:56:56 PM
Mike rules.

Nuff said.

2003-07-14 03:59:27 PM
If I post a wishlist, will strangers buy me stuff too? It's not that I don't appreciate all your hard work, Mike, but what are you? Some kind of Camgirl?

Actual footage of Mike moving the database to the old server:

By the way - With the exception of the Henry Rollins DVD, that has to be the:
Nerdy-est. Wishlist. Ever.

Thanks, Mike. Happy birthday.

the big Fat 30. "et vous" French, it's Bastille Day Too. Happy Birthday France! (I will be nice to you for your birthday).

Actually I work graveyard and I was getting my ass severily chewed last night for something I was not even involved with. To break the tension I butted in and said "look my birthday is in 10 minutes, can we get this over with and be nice to me just for tonight?" She cracked a smile and apologized.

What kind of motherboard do you need?

I couple of Fark notes.

I just saw an account that was over 97,000 from nearly a month ago, Fark has to be approaching 100,000 in the next week or so. In the beginning of the year I had tried to start a pool, but didn't happen, I had predicted May 5th, so I would have lost anyway. Can we get a pool thread going for number 10,000?

When is Fark's official birthday? I know it launched in 98 or 99. The server is slow I'm not checking the FAQ.

I'll be honest with the Fark community. Turning 30 and single, and decided to try the internet dating thing. In my profile I stated "I am a Farker." If I get a response because of that statement, I will marry the girl.

productiveslacker - happy birthday! Another Nashvillian - I'm an '05'er, though. Going down there NEXT FARKIN WEEK.

Anyway, THANKS to Mike for saving my weekend. I was home all alone all weekend thanks to my husband being out of town and was all set for flame war and photoshop fever, and Mike saved the day.

Tyan S2469GN. We ordered one today... and just to be safe, two more Athlon MP's for it. Hopefully they'll arrive at Servint tomorrow.

I too had a birthday recently. July 12th. I'm unemployed and a virtual pauper. The job field for tech industry types with ten-year-old skillsets is remarkably thin around here.

Do you feel charitable, punk? Well, do ya?

2003-07-14 05:19:14 PM
Thanks Mike, but why the delay on the motherboard? It's nobody's fault, stuff happens, but in most cities you can practically drive to the corner store and buy one, no?

Assuming a standard P4 board with the necessary parts would do, I know of 4 places within 2 miles of my front door where I could get one. But maybe you guys use something different, I dunno.

Yeah, my Uncle lives in Phoenix and works as a programmer for Honeywell. He got word a while ago that he's getting laid off, and he can't find another job. The problem is he programs in crap like Fortran and Cobol on AS400 machines. These days it's a lot more useful to know C++ or some of the newer Web-based technologies. I'm sure there are still jobs out there for those old school programmers, but those jobs are harder to find.
