UberDave: For some reason, I first read that as "Hentai". Then I thought that I haven't donated to help Hentai in quite a while.
ihatedumbpeople: Last I heard, Haitians were still living in filthy tent cities and the women were being raped by groups of armed men.maybe they should start spending some money.
Mr. Bombtrack: That's how aid services work. Remember all that money you donated to the tsunami victims? That went to Haiti. Each donation that is collected for the present disaster will be spent on the next, and each dollar spent on the current disaster was collected from the last.
AwfulJackass: Money, although helpful, must be controlled in such a tight fisted and slow trickle method to ensure abuses don't contribute to methods that are actually counterproductive.Infrastructure development, crisis relief, and general construction are difficult projects to enact in a developing country in a method that doesn't lead to abuse by some groups to the long term detriment of others.Spending money quickly just to spend it won't relieve suffering faster or stop the spread of cholera. It needs to be done pragmatically, coldly, and over the course of time to ensure proper management practices are followed./you stopped reading in the first sentence.//used to work on UNDP projects.
joeyromeo: Conan endorsed the one that ultimately threw 96% of itself into disaster.
The Angry Hand of God: Nope. Don't seem to remember donating money or giving a crap in the first place.
You want to see your money? Look at the left wrist:
Scottathon: Is there a wall dividing Hispaniola or something? Life in the Dominican Republic doesn't seem to be great, but I don't understand why there is such a huge difference between the two countries.
porterm: i remember being so grief stricken after the tsnami i decided to send a hundred bucks over the the internet, followed all the links and when i finally got thru all the red cross bullshiat, found out my donation was funnelled thru the united way. the united way with a 96% adminstration fee. decided then and there that all my charitable donations would be giving buskers a fiver when i saw them. screw professional fundraisers,at least the busker got 100% of my donation.and haiti is a shiathole feeding upon its own poor,as are most poor countrys. most of the help the public trys to send them only winds up enriching the already wealthy among them.its kinda sad,but ive given up on trying to save the world. the only thing you save is some manical despot.
logruszed: You want to see your money? Look at the left wrist:
RockIsDead: Well, how many liberal, lefty, hippie, commie, Al Gore, pot smoking, dumbocrap, libbylibbylibbydieleftylib mud cookies could they possibly eat?
Thunderpipes: Haiti charges charities 40% tax on anything they import. I could not believe it, they deserve to starve. The charities have to make a choice between aid and paying cash, it is unreal.
moothemagiccow: Scottathon: Is there a wall dividing Hispaniola or something? Life in the Dominican Republic doesn't seem to be great, but I don't understand why there is such a huge difference between the two countries.Ok now think Mexico and USA
