No doubt, they will mine this for ways
To justify racial malaise.
Which winds up a downer
For anyone browner

Now we know why they go after Hispanics in Arizona. It doesn't matter who you catch they are bound to be a criminal.

"He shoots police officers."

Which is somehow worse than shooting unarmed people.

"This guy is pretty bad," said Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo, whose department is in charge of the case. "He shoots police officers."
Wait, I'm confused. Is he bad or does he shoot police officers?

As an Arizonan who just spent a week without getting above freezing and 16" of snow in my driveway, I'm getting a kick out of this.

Right. What are things coming to when a fugitive can't even take a few hostages without being hassled by The Man?

FTA:
For nearly five hours, the mall was locked down with more than 200 shoppers inside as police combed the 1.1 million-square-foot facility and sought to verify that the gunman at Baja Fresh was the same man who shot at police outside Sears.

"We had him either way," Favazzo said. "We either had him in the mall, or we had him when he broke the perimeter."

Hernandez managed to evade the police at the mall, where he stripped off first a black sweatshirt and then a T-shirt, police said. He dashed into the Sears and slipped out an exit with the mall shoppers who were evacuated before a police perimeter was secure, Favazzo said.

About half an hour later, police saw Hernandez, who had planned to call a taxi in the mall, trying to flag down cars on Chandler Boulevard, police said.

When he saw police, he made an obscene gesture and said he would "shoot them in the head," police said.

The boy is hardcore, Also I'm shocked at the lack of tattoos, no good hoodlum should be without some on his face

FTA:
Perez, the man police initially believed was the shooter, was mistakenly released from a Pinal County jail Dec. 16. He remains at large. Marshals believe he is in Arizona.

Favazzo said Chandler police have not found a link between Perez and Hernandez. Court records dating back to 2004 show Perez as being involved in multiple car thefts and at least occasional methamphetamine use.

Dude may have been the wrong guy, but he turned out to be a bigger catch than the guy they were originally looking for.

What kind of a place are we living in when the innocent bystander takes hostages, shoots it out and has a record longer than the guy they were looking for.

I looked a lot like the Camelback rapist but I never wanted to shoot it out with the police who were following me.

Records show that by 2002, he had committed crimes including aggravated assault against 19 victims.

And he is still alive because...?

Whoever is fighting to keep trash like this alive, needs to be shut up and thrown out of the US.

Someone like this should not ever be let out of prison until such time as he is deemed safe and those who say he is safe are then to be held responsible for his release.

What the fark kind of idiots run the criminal justice system in this country?!

There's a good reason that jails in Arizona are mostly occupied by Mexicans, they commit most of the crimes.

Illegal aliens make up 22 percent of the felony defendants in Arizona's largest county, Maricopa, and more than 17 percent of the state's prison population, though they are roughly 10 percent of Maricopa County's population and a lower percentage of the state's population. Their children's crime rates are undoubtedly higher-the incarceration rate of Mexican immigrants jumps more than eightfold between the first and second generations, resulting in a prison rate for Mexican-Americans that is 3.45 times higher than that of whites

J.Garcia'sRightMiddleFinger: To be fair he WAS a fugitive, just not the one they were looking for.

Actually they were following Hernandez because one of his victims identified his attacker as Perez. Hernandez was in a Kia that he carjacked from an old lady in November. The police believed it was Perez that did the carjack because the person that saw it picked him out. When they found the Kia they chased it and he fled because he was a felon with a probation warrant and a firearm.

19 assaults does warrant life in prison...

I sentence you and your family to an aggravated assaulting by the next violent bastard released after repeated violent offenses.

We'll let you decide if he should be released.
Your choice, you get assaulted or he dies.

Get a clue people.

Our criminal justice system is much like terrorism.

How many violent offenders were released and walk the streets today?

If there is an enemy of the people, it is the state.

If you start giving out the death penalty for comparably minor stuff you have nothing to escalate to for worse crimes. One of the main arguments for the death penalty is that it scares people away from doing bad stuff. If somebody knows they already have a death sentence on their head for hurting someone they have no reasons not to simply kill their victim. They know they could not get punished any worse for murder than what they already have coming and killing people might help them remain undetected.

I don't think we want to have violent people out there who feel that they have nothing left to loose by escalating their violence.

Of course I can already envision that certain people will try to solve the problem by inventing punishments even worse than death. How about some torture, especially agonizing and humiliating methods of executions or perhaps some good old fashioned Sippenhaft?

Also you sound like someone who believes in God. did you read the part in the bible about "an eye for an eye"?

May your family and your god be his next victim. Amen.

I believe in stopping the violent offenders by whatever means, and the most definite means is death.

If you only put his eye out, he will only return again to haunt you.

People were tortured in this case, it seems by this lunatic, but it was not him, it was our government. Our government released another violent animal onto the streets to torture the citizens.
