That's enough, Ron Perlman.

I could get behind that.

So long as it's del Toro behind the camera.

Oh don't be such a killjoy. While the HB movies weren't high art they are certainly better popcorn movies than the majority of the crap out there.

I was talking with someone about Hellboy 2 vs. Pan's Labyrinth. PL is a better movie overall, but Hellboy 2 is substantially prettier. The design work on that movie is incredible, and it really goes into far more detail than PL can do with it's limited fantasy elements.

If they can get the same guys to do art direction, go for it.

The eternal defense of the crappy: "It wasn't supposed to be good!"

All I'll say about the second Hellboy was that it seemed like it had pretensions of being "high art" by bringing in the Del Toro imagery. I would have liked a fun movie about Ron Perlman kicking ass against crazy Lovecraft/Nazi-type stuff. Instead I got plant monsters and Enya.

Quest for Fire, The Name of the Rose, The City of Lost Children, Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy; Perlman has been an awesome, and often underrated, actor for decades. Hell, I even liked him in Beauty and the Beast, as melodramatic as that show was.

That guy's spent more time in the makeup chair than all the Kardashians combined. I can't remember what the last movie was about except that I heart Selma Blair.

Hellboy was much better for me than Spiderman/XMen

Juuuust calm down and make sure you've set a side enough time to do work on Sons of Anarchy. Then you can go and do whatever unimportant side projects you may have.

Just going off the top of my head. Mea culpa.

It was pretty much what I expected of a Mike Mignola story. It WAS a Hellboy comic brought to screen. Don't like Mike Mignola, that's fine, but it was exactly what I expected, and liked.

It was fun. Plain and simple. How pretentious can you be with Barry Manilow? Really?

It was fun. Get over it. That's what the Hellboy movies are.

Good, this has been covered.

Stay out of it, Nick Lachay Ron Perlman!

/"Sons of Anarchy" needs a Linda Hamilton cameo

Has anybody mentioned how freaking awesome Sons of Anarchy is yet? No?

Okay, I'll start. Sons of Anarchy is awesome. I'm quickly coming to enjoy it more than Breaking Bad, and that's saying something.

If they do Hellboy 3, they need to make sure they get a good budget. They were running out of money at the end of Hellboy 2, and it shows in the film.

Hellboy 2 is amazing looking, but it's a narrative mess. PL is an excellent story well told.

Great. He was probably the best part of "Alien: Resurrection".

?

The Troll Market scene was e popping, and the Golden Army itself was exactly what I was hoping for. Enclosed, with a monolithic feel, and then turned personal. Which is pretty much what Hellboy does. Make it personal. From Baba Yaga to Rasputin. I've been nothing but happy with the Hellboy movies. But then again, I'm a fan of Mignola and del Toro.

Can we set HB3 when Liz is still pregnant and get some CGI prego double D's on Selma Blair?

Definitely worth the watch. Pretty original story, not too many stories out there about a pair of grave robbers and the various ins and outs of their job.

I'd go. Though HB2 blew. HB1 was really fun.

Huh, thats odd. Last I read, del toro said Ron Pehlman didn't want to do another one cause he hated the 8 hour makeup sessions. Del toro went on to explain(paraphrasing) that he didn't blame him, he might be a action star in the eyes of his fans but hes still a 60 year old man and hated the hassle of having to sit still that long.

//coulda sworn I read that on fark

The tooth-fairies creeped my kids out something fierce, so HB2 wins. Seriously.... if you have a kid who is losing his/her teeth at the moment, drop HB2 on them with no warning. Tell them they get to see what the tooth fairies look like. Good times.

I'm listening to Ron on yesterday's Opie and Anthony.. and he is awesome!
funny as hell, and awesomely genuine.

The original i09.com interview includes him talking about his role in At The Mountains of Madness, which I'm still hoping will be awesome.

Then he said the movie is set at the north pole. I'm hoping he was just mistaken. It's the south pole. It has to be the south pole. It wouldn't make any sense otherwise.

I suspect that the people who piss on Hellboy 2 are the same morons who made Little Fockers this weekend's number one movie.

Honestly, if a movie where Ron Perlman dresses up like satan himself, blows the head off a 50-foot tall earth elemental with a grenade launcher, feeds a troll into a grinder, suker-punches a dead guy with no physical body, has a drunk sing-along with his fish buddy and fights an army of indestructable golden mechs didn't entertain you at all, the problem is that you suck, not the movie.

He was on a local radio station yesterday and said that del Toro had an amazing script for the 3rd movie but that they'd have to do it soon cause he(Perlman) can't do superhero stuff for much longer.

Blatantly so, I'd say. Let's not forget the scene where Hellboy rescues a box full of kittens. I'll admit, it's in character, but it's a box full of kittens. They couldn't have made the audience root for him any more if they'd had him simultaneously curing cancer while he clobbered Hitler in the groin with a sledgehammer.

I don't know. It's not even close to the same amount of makeup, but there's been a lot more of them:

My girlfriend wouldn't allow me to make contact, even a "hello", for which i'll never forgive myself for listening to her.

I'm cool with that.

Hellboy 2 wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. Probably one of the better popcorn flicks in the past 10. Even with the great movie FX, and tons of use of extras, they still put way too much cheap CGI in it for various enemies. Kinda took me out of the rest of it, which was beautifully done.

1/2 the coolness of the Hellboy movies is seeing what sort of set's and environments they come up with.
