As someone who grew up in Syracuse, I'd much prefer being put in prison than living in Utica.

Call me a pussy, but If I were at a party and a guy like that showed up, I'd make a bee line for the door. Nothing good would come of it.

If you were at a party in that part of Syracuse, you could expect a lot more like him. That particular area is reminiscient of parts of Detroit. Boarded up houses, gangs, and - I believe right around Thanksgiving a 20 month old baby was shot in the head while sitting in a parked minivan not too far from the address they provided.

I don't know if I would go that far. The incident happened at a party, which means drugs or alcohol were likely involved. If Mr. Dame had been in car and killed someone under similar circumstances, drunk or whatever, he wouldn't be looking at such intense scutiny. Regardless, he is innocent until proven guilty, so such statements made by the Police Cheif is completely innappropriate, and inexcusable. If I were the judge, I would completely throw the case out. Good luck getting any judge to actually respect the law, though. I wonder if the Police Cheif still had adrenaline in his veins after beating the crap out of Dame, being held down by 5 other officers, for a "convenient" confession, that doesn't describe how things actually may or may not have gone down at all. You see a tattoo, as noted in the heading...I see someone who can not afford adequate legal representation. Public Defenders are not acceptable when a person is actually being charged with anything serious, because they have a cracker jack interpreation of the law that is just another acquiescense for whatever the prosecutor decides to do, and no defense at all.
