Also, submitter's grammar -- ignoring "who's" -- suggests the woman was missing and is now found. Proper construction of the sentence would have been "Paralyzed woman's specially-modified car, which was stolen just days before Christmas, has been found and returned on Christmas Eve."

They should paralyze the thieves so they might begin to understand the offensiveness of their crime.

who's = who is
whose = belonging to

2010-12-27 01:45:56 AM
The real question is, where did she go, and why was it so hard to find her? It's not like she could have gotten far.

2010-12-27 01:46:09 AM
I'm so glad the woman was returned. What about the car?

2010-12-27 01:46:49 AM
Did they search for her using the specially modified car?

2010-12-27 01:47:22 AM
You Fark grammar nazi's are full of it today. And by it, I mean WIN.

/I'm running low on commas too. Anyone feeling charitable?
// here's a few ampersands in exchange &&&&&

2010-12-27 01:47:52 AM
I'm glad they returned her. This is a bad time of year to be lost outside, especially if one is paralyzed.

2010-12-27 01:50:38 AM
anyone else notice how the wording of the headline makes it sound like the Paralyzed woman was stolen and the returned?

WhyteRaven74: Bucky Katt: who is car....

I have no idea, I'm wondering who is phone myself.

a thousand times yes. who is phone, i will never know.

I guess there problem is that they're over-generalizing grammatical rules over their in subbyland. Your generally supposed to use an apostrophe-s when indicating possession. You're mistake is that the apostrophe-s is not correct with this particular case. Its a common mistake -- this mistake rears it's head often.

2010-12-27 01:53:06 AM
From my parsing of the headline, the woman IS a specially modified car, and she was stolen.

2010-12-27 01:56:23 AM
I'm glad the Nazis have corrected dumbmitters headline errors and wanted to call repeat on this but it wasn't someone just posted the follow up on the original thread so i'll just call it old news is old

/all out of .'s so i'll just let it be a run-on

//don't have commas but i do have semi-colons

I_Hate_Iowa: Also, submitter's grammar -- ignoring "who's" -- suggests the woman was missing and is now found. Proper construction of the sentence would have been "Paralyzed woman's specially-modified car, which was stolen just days before Christmas, has been found and returned on Christmas Eve."

Good effort, but proper construction would not have included a hyphen in "specially modified." Also, the end of your sentence should read "... has been found and was returned on Christmas Eve."

Some people understand syntax and the logical expression of ideas. Other people write the code on which our critical systems rely. That's why we have a division of labor.
