I go back and forth about whether Nightmare Before Christmas counts as a Christmas movie, but other than that, pretty much This.

A few years, ago I was forced to watch an abomination titled Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus starring Steve Gutenberg and Crystal Bernard. Should be on this list.

FTA: My one problem with this movie is that if you're going to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," why not watch the original classic? My roommate feels the same way about "A Christmas Carol." In her mind, the only version that exists is "A Muppet Christmas Carol," and rightly so, because it's awesome.

Ya, why not watch the "original classic" that was the 42nd remake of a movie from 1910?

Jack Frost!! That was it...I knew I was missing one, yes those. Ok, according to you fine folks I am just not looking hard enough. That's good - I seriously thought they simply stopped showing them and I was considering buying them.

This is the all-time worst Christmas movie:



Along with the third-rate animation and having an insipid story that has almost nothing to do with the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer song, it has the following additional deficiencies:

1. It has Eric Idle in it playing a fox with an American accent. You only find out it's him doing the voice if you watch the end credits.
2. It has Bob Newhart playing what is apparently a mentally-challenged polar bear. You only find out it's him doing the voice if you watch the end credits.
3. It has the worst Paul McCartney song ever written ("Wonderful Christmas Time").
4. It has Richard Simmons in it playing an incompetent elf (why would Santa keep one of those around anyway?).

And the final nail in the coffin:

5. It has Whoopi Goldberg in it as the world's dumbest villainess.

Rankin-Bass did it right the first time; there was no need to make this rancid cartoon. I think it made about twelve dollars when it was originally released in theaters (they opened it in the early fall probably hoping that it would be forgotten when Christmas actually rolled around).

Ha, yes, I did catch that one on ABC Family I think last Christmas Eve. And I own The Year Without a Santa Claus. I broke down and watched Mr. Magoo on Youtube this year.

Don't care what anyone says, I liked the Jim Carrey Grinch. It was fun, stupid, and essentially harmless. Doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the original classic one bit.

I like the Disney version. No, not the Jim Carey version, but the Disney animated versions starring Scrooge McDuck.

For some reason, I always loved the part where Scrooge was hanging over a coffin with hellfire bellowing out (new window).

I am suprised at the lack of "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Miracle on 34th Street". Those two are played ad naseum every year, yet I've never actually seen them. I'm sure they're great, but for some reason I never watched them. I think I'm the only one, though.
