Too little... too late.

2010-12-17 01:50:18 PM
Sweet. I like that character.

2010-12-17 02:02:51 PM
Huston?

Is that the guy who's supposed to be the next Spider-Man?

2010-12-17 02:12:25 PM
Most off-putting character EVAR.

2010-12-17 02:19:38 PM
awesome character.

2010-12-17 02:25:20 PM
I love that character. Boardwalk Empire has such complex character development.

2010-12-17 02:25:21 PM
I wanna know when it starts production for next season.

Some random dude in imdb said end of january 2011 but provided no proof...

2010-12-17 02:28:45 PM
Sweet...he's easily one of the best characters on that show.

2010-12-17 02:29:59 PM
Cool. I'm glad the Tin Man didn't get the ax.

2010-12-17 02:33:00 PM
Glad to hear we'll be seeing more of his character in season 2. Boardwalk Empire season one was excellent. Much more excited for season 2 of Boardwalk than Walking Dead.

SundaesChild: Boardwalk Empire has such complex character development.

Really?

I thought he made the leap from "sniper haunted by his wartime past" to "murder for hire/fun" pretty quickly.

2010-12-17 02:45:53 PM
I was gonna watch the next season anyway. But this news ups the anticipation factor five fold.

2010-12-17 02:46:04 PM
Great news, he's my favorite character on the show. The sequence where he's dreaming (and has his full face) only to be awoken by the screaming of a child who has just seen his (sleeping) disfigured face? Heart breaking. Then the follow-up where he sits in on the reading of "Wizard of Oz?" Great stuff.

I was a bit on the fence with "Boardwalk Empire," but the second half of the season won me over. Looking forward to more.

2010-12-17 02:48:15 PM
Also my favorite character.

"Forty five caliber. What do you use it for?"
"Killing people."
"Hmm. It's good for that."

Because of his disfigurement and his PTSD in general, Harrow thinks that the only work he is worthy of is at least murder related. Jimmy isn't exactly helping by offering him that very job. There's also undercurrents of the addiction to killing element that wartime PTSD suffers have to deal with.

2010-12-17 02:57:51 PM
Best part of the show.

2010-12-17 03:09:13 PM
Agree with eveyone else about his character. Definitely my favorite character and right behind him is Omar playing Chalkey.

that said, the show was good, not great. hopefully they can get this thing figured out and turn it up a notch in Season 2.

Best shows in HBO history imo:

I couldn't believe he was the same guy from Twilight...but he is. And I love him on Boardwalk.

2010-12-17 03:20:37 PM
I always saw Rome as two mini-series (like BoB and The Pacific) VS. an actual series. Also, Deadwood is almost as good as The Wire.

No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency
Boardwalk Empire

...Actually, I like Empire well enough, but I kind of wish it learned something from Deadwood about using the same constructed facade as an historical locale -- it just seems too Vegasy "New York, New York".

/still haven't seen Six Feet, will soon

2010-12-17 03:29:01 PM
Fellini8.5: constructed facade

The boardwalk was a gaudy, painted facade. That was the aesthetic, and the show nailed it.

YES!!!!

He was awesome in the season finale.

"Halloween's over, pal."

Are you high? Boardwalk Empire was 100x better.

Also, I'll be the first person in this thread to mention that "The Life and Times of Tim" is awesome.

/watching deadwood right now, season two.
//effing amazing

2010-12-17 03:56:18 PM
1)The Sopranos -- Changed TV, iconic, will live forever.
2)The Wire -- Will last as a witness to the beginning of American decline
3)Deadwood -- Almost an all-time great, but after a muddled third season, the producers and money-men left it in the woods to die
4)Band of Brothers -- Just because, goddammit.
5)Rome - Great history, great sets, great actors. Best mismatched buddies series ever.

Prepare for huge let down when they rip the whole goddamn thing right out from underneath you. Just like they did with Carnivale.

He embodies the quote, "Those who have hunted armed men and lived, never really have a taste for anything else."

/probably butchered it

2010-12-17 04:08:24 PM
Did anyone else predict the sniper kill from across the street? I don't remember which episode it was, but I knew it was gonna happen right after Jimmy Darmody said "Relax, I'm not going to kill you", or something to that effect.

rtaylor92: Definitely my favorite character and right behind him is Omar playing Chalkey.

The scene where Chalkey gives his long story ending with "These... these my daddy's tools." was one of the season's best. You knew where it was going, but the way he came off kind of hurt and vulnerable while telling his story made it work.

To be read back in Paz de la Huerta's baby talk 'Yes, Daddy. I do.'

Love the character. The line that just made sealed the deal with him for me was when he was talking about how to get the brothers they were looking for out of hiding.

media.nj.com
"I could go there," Harrow says. "I could kill the mother. The sisters... And the dentist. That would make them stick their heads up."

It was so cold and well delivered in his somewhat halting speech because of the half-face I felt the chill right through the television.

2010-12-17 07:41:45 PM
I'd just like to say this show is pretty damn good, great work all around...except for one small thing: That god damn intro music. Like you couldn't pick something from the period, I hope they change that up.
