Isn't it over?

2010-12-17 11:17:40 AM
The quality of the female in this show has taken a sharp decrease after the 2nd or 3rd season.

Other than that everything gets better with each season.

Holy shiat. I stopped DVR'ing it. I thought it was over. I missed an entire season?

penthesilea: My reason for watching:

First of all... very much YES.

And while I've been shotgunning episodes to catch up (just started watching recently,) I wouldn't say it's the best show. But it's very cute.

And... Castiel. Nummy.

One of the better shows on TV. Never miss it. I was a little scared to see what they were going to do with this season, but they have managed to make it interesting. I mean, how do you top the (possible) end of the world?

The only people I know that enjoy that show are boring as fark and prattle endlessly about Buffy.

That's a strange way to spell The Walking Dead subby.

Apparently, subby only gets one channel on his TV.

Oh, GOD! Misha! I love this show. I just completed my Supernatural DVD set, I buy the Supernatural magazine (I want a subscription, but we'll see), I play the Supernatural Game on FB... I hope to have my very own 1967 4-door Chevy Impala (just like Dean!! LOL) before I die. I also made a jacket for a friend to wear while meeting Misha Collins and he wouldn't give her his autograph until she gave him the jacket! She gave him the jacket. I almost fainted.

I may be considered a fan.

I won't speak to the "boring" part, but I've never watched an episode of "Buffy" and I think that Supernatural is one of the better series on t.v.

I really only started watching it regularly a few years ago, so being able to watch back episodes on TNT every week-day has been helpful. I think I've seen every episode at this point.

Reverend Otis: My (and I assume most other people's) reason for never considering this show:

The CW

I confess, I thought the same thing as you. A show with two pretty boy leads with pretty boy co-stars on the CW? Pass.

But I caught "Tall Tales" one night and it reminded me of X-Files' "Bad Blood." Turns out Supernatural is much like the X-Files. Except that for a pair of FBI agents hunting down aliens and mutants, you have a pair of brothers hunting down Demons and monsters. The two shows have even used the same directors. That laugh one moment and cringe in fright in the next feel that X-Files has? Yep, Supernatural has that too.

And if you aren't an X-Files fan, watch it because the writers have said their influences have been Gaiman, Sam Raimi, John Landis, Classic Rock, American Westerns and Star Wars. None of which is your usual CW fare.

IrateShadow: The only people I know that enjoy that show are boring as fark and prattle endlessly about Buffy.

I used to love Buffy but then it went down hill quickly after season three. And, boy, has it aged terribly.

2010-12-17 01:49:44 PM
I usually steal the DVD sets from my sisters whenever they come out, but haven't ever tuned in to watch. It's a real solid show.

2010-12-17 01:50:00 PM
Is this show really that good? I ended up watching the tail end of an episode. A woman was possessed or something and a room caught fire and the flames were really done with some really shiatty effects. And the two guys said some really cliche stuff and the episode ended.

2010-12-17 01:50:53 PM
I promise to try watching it when all season are available on my Netflix Instant Queue. Till then, whatever.

Jim from Saint Paul: I promise to try watching it when all season are available on my Netflix Instant Queue. Till then, whatever.

There are actually quite a few sites out there that have it available. Not that I looked at any of them when I couldn't find season 2 on DVD anywhere close by. Not at all. But, I've heard they're out there, and they have every episode readily available.

Awesome show. Can't say this season is better than last, and wasn't expecting it to be. But, it hasn't been disappointing. Weird vibe this year, especially to start the season, but things seem to be steadily improving over the past few episodes.

Like many, I was wary about watching it, tuned in on a lark around Halloween a few years ago and was immediately hooked. One of my favorite shows of all time.

/Not that I have a man crush on Dean or anything. I mean its not like my wife went online and found a replica of both of his jackets (leather and the black army issue) and surprised me for Christmas, not at all.

2010-12-17 02:00:23 PM
I'm surprised the writer didn't touch on last season's episode with gods from every culture sitting around a table trying to figure out how to stop the whole apocalypse thing because they were there first.

2010-12-17 02:16:31 PM
This season is pretty good, but if the writers really had any balls, they would have made Cthulhu the big bad.

2010-12-17 02:22:56 PM
This season really suffers from bad dialogue, IMHO. It's almost as if Dean has reached the pinnacle of his character, as every time he opens his mouth it's to biatch or whine about the situation. Still - HUGE fan.

IrateShadow: The only people I know that enjoy that show are boring as fark and prattle endlessly about Buffy.

I dunno about the boring part, but I've only ever watched one episode of Buffy and I hated it.

Reverend Otis: My (and I assume most other people's) reason for never considering this show:

The CW

My husband and I buy the DVDs because we live in Canada and we don't get The CW up here. It's possible to watch it without having to watch The CW. It's a great show and I love the classic rock soundtrack. Also, I like how the show isn't afraid to make fun of itself, like the episodes with the author dude and the fanfic chick, and the convention episode.

2010-12-17 02:40:12 PM
The show started as "pretty people vs. scary monsters" and turned into something of biblical proportions. Cats and dogs living together, etc.

I can only imagine what someone tuning for the first time in the middle of season 3 thought. Something like WTFBBQ?!?

2010-12-17 02:40:31 PM
I was talked into watching this show when Season 5 was airing, but I started at the beginning and was hooked by the middle of Season 1. I've always been a sucker for urban legends, spirits and religious themes like angels and demons (despite being an atheist) so this show turned out to be right up my alley. It's funny, its smart, its given me an unexpected fright more than once and I'm not ashamed to admit that a few times it's made me cry.

My roommates tease me all the time about my passion for this show, saying it's because the boys are attractive and while that is a perk, it's not what keeps me watching. I don't give a shiat how hot someone is, if the show/movie they're in is terrible I won't subject myself to it.

Leaving Dean and Sam out of it, my favorites are Bobby and Crowley. Bobby is such a genuine character and reminds me of my grandpa. And Crowley is absolutely fabulous.

So, is Crowley dead now? And, I mean "dead" "dead", not returned once again to Hell dead. I mean they burned his bones, so that's death for demons now right?

I don't know what part of Canada you're from but I can get the CW just fine (if I had cable) - a friend of mine is into Smallville *cringe* and watches it all the time on the CW.

You never know with this show. Death is such a flexible term here. Personally, I think his "death" was a ruse to fool Meg and the Winchester brothers. I mean, how in the world was Crowley able to go to Heaven to get Pa Campbell out if he's a Demon? There's some backdoor dealings going on between Heaven and Hell. I bet on money on it.

I live in Alberta and Shaw doesn't carry CW, unless you get the digital TV package with the extra US channels.

I'd rank Supernatural as my second favorite show, after Dexter but before House, Psych, or Castle.

If I include shows I used to watch... Hmm. I did enjoy Angel & Buffy, and Firefly, and many many others...

OK, I have my top 4 shows.

Dexter (S4 especially)
Supernatural (S3-S5)
Firefly (Damn Fox!)

Ah, the only times I've had cable it's through smaller providers who don't care what they give you so long as you pay... although I think there was a time which Shaw allowed for the CW in the normal package (years ago), but I could be wrong.

Either way there's a reason I like online streaming (for the very little amount of TV I do try to stay up on).

I love the show.
Unlike most things on TV the writing gets progressively better as time goes on.

I use the DVD's to get people hooked on it like it's crack.

To me, this is still one of the most badass entrances of all time.

And it was set in Chicago! (new window)

Another lover of SW chiming in. Good writing, surprisingly epic story, and some fantastic characters (mostly Bobby & Crowley.)

The wife watched it for about a season and a half. Seemed alright enough. I'd want to watch it all with the Mrs anyway.

My guess? He's dead, but he'll be back. Crowley was looking for Purgatory, where things like demons, vampires, and other monsters end up when they die. My guess is that he's now found it the hard way. If finding Purgatory still plays a part in this season's story (and using the armies of Purgatory might be what helps Cas win the war in heaven), then I'm sure Crowley will make at least one more appearance.

That's funny. The reason I don't watch it is because it's a glued-together rip-off of In Nomine, The Prophecy and Hellblazer.

It's about as original as the shiat I took this morning. It's possibly the most derivative show I've ever seen.

Dean originally went to hell because he sold his soul to revive Sam. Demons can resurrect. They especially made a point of this with Satan resurrecting Sam whenever he died.

You know, a couple of years ago I would have been all over a link like this showing up on Fark. Now, not so much. There's still a chance they'll tie everything together with a back half so awesome it erases some of the crap they've given us lately, but that chance is wavering closer to none than it is slim.

Don't watch the current season for the plot. Watch for the pretty view. If that doesn't float your boat, I'd say give it a pass. Or get the DVDs and watch the first 4 seasons. That's where all the awesomeness is.
