Coke, coffee and water atm.

Caffeine doesn't keep me awake for some reason. Gives me the ability to stay awake if I want to, but I can definitely pass out within minutes after pounding dark-as-hell double-perc'd 32oz.

/Insert obligatory "I like my coffee like I like my children" joke here

I'd heard that some people get their caffeine that way.

Cup of white tea right now.

Gave up caffeine years ago and I feel great. Will have a coke maybe once a month, but boy does it make me bounce off the walls.

/Sleep better
//More natural energy.

Not for my child, it isn't. On the rare occasions he's allowed to have soda, it has to be non-caffeinated, like root beer or 7-up. And foods that might contain caffeine, like chocolate, are rare treats.

It's not that my wife and I are health nuts or anything, far from it, but we just don't think it's right to get him hooked on something that early.

My parents were never coffee drinkers so I wasn't exposed to it until college. However, we did have an average of 15-20 cases of Coke/Pepsi at any given time (my Dad stocks up bigtime whenever there's a sale). Needless to say, I spent my childhood absolutely strung out on soda and I can't remember ever having trouble sleeping.

Of course now, kids are born with a cell phone in one hand and a 32oz Monster in the other so I can see why they can't sleep.

You really have to play with the mix, especially the age of the coffee. Too hot and it burns like a pixi stick. Too cool and you look like the retard who stuck a grape up his nose.

3 cans of soda in a day for a 8-12 year old isn't *that* much. As long as you keep the kids off caffeine for the few hours before sleep, they shouldn't be affected by it right? I imagine I drank that or more sometimes and I was always a good sleeper as a tyke.

Never really liked caffeine until I started working graveyard shift a few weeks ago... Now I have 2 cups of coffee before work, and 1 for each break and lunch. I actually get spun out on the shiat sometimes and usually stay on top of the numbers for my shift. Glorious, glorious caffeine...

I gave up caffeine a while back. No more headaches and my temper has evened out.

Can't understand these kids who start out the day with a Red Bull or a couple of cokes or the parents that allow it.

My first coffee was in the Army. There was a hot red head MP in the snack bar at the MP barracks. I, not being an MP, was non gratis in the snack bar and leered at by other MPs. My only reason to be there was to purchase a beverage and get the hell out. Since I bought a soda the first time, it would look quite weird for a helicopter mechanic to go back in to said snack bar and purchase another soda, so I switched up to coffee.

Maybe the hot red head would look past all the other MPs to the incredibly handsome helicopter repairer with the coffee and say "You are my soul mate. Lets go rebuild my 68 Camaro together." To which I would swig a healthy draft of coffee and say "My sergeant says I shouldn't be allowed to use tools. That is why I drive a duece and a half with two flat tires. But I can look at your automobile and nod knowingly while you recite what's wrong with it." And then she would smile that beautiful smile and say to the other MPs "Crush his kidneys for me boys."

When I was a kid, coffee was a definite no no and soda was a rare treat. Not being so wired allowed us to outrun the pterodactyls that would swoop down on us at the bus stop and carry off a kid or two.

But families were much larger back then so we could lose one or two kids a week.

The day I got my onion I thanked all my brothers and sisters who couldn't be there.

The body becomes tolerant to the stimulatory effects of caffeine fairly rapidly, so those who refrain from caffeine are more sensitive to this effect than those who consume it frequently.

Growing up, we had every variation of soft drink made pass through our home. And here in the South, sweet tea, which has more caffeine than Coke, is like water.

You got an onion for you belt? Luxury. All we got was a stunted radish.

I can't process caffeine

I mean, I never get the supposed effects, not even drinking a Red Bull, I feel like nothing happened.

One Red Bull isn't much at all. Drink 3 in a short period and report back (think of it like a 24 oz Pepsi). I'm not especially sensitive to caffeine either, but if I drink 2 Monsters fast enough I'll get a little jittery.
