What a dirtbag move.

2010-12-12 07:37:36 PM
Yeah, that was a real dickbag move. The Jets ought to fire him and the league ought to fine him. If hitting the quarterback too hard costs you $25k, that ought to be at least $50k.

2010-12-12 07:42:19 PM
I call BS. He took A dive. More than A yard out of bounds he was out of the play anyway. Was his team behind? Did he need an excuse for being A loser?

I really doubt the guys on the sideline are making the NFL player salaries those fines are calibrated to.

Actually I'm A Seattle fan and you are one of the few I will admit that to. Watched them lose so much I put my hat in the back of the closet.

Of course not. It's a natural reflex to stick out your knee when a player is passing within a foot or two of you.

I'm a Packers and Cowboys fan, so I don't really care about either team.

Yes, it's obvious the guy tried to interfere with the play. I also think it's obvious the player took a dive.

Fire the sideline guy and ban him from working for any NFL team for a year. Fine the Jets, increasing the fine for how long it takes to fire him.

Take one ref who would normally be watching for penalties by the other team and assign him to watching the Jets' sideline for the rest of the season.

It just makes you wonder how many other games they've had someone on the sidelines tripping players. For instance, they've been in the playoffs five times in the past ten years... Were those legitimate?

The Jets guy clearly stuck his knee out, so there's no doubt about the blame. But I have to say - the Phins guy was so far out of bounds, c'mon! The league should punish the Jets guy but they should also make it clear that it isn't acceptable to run that far out of bounds on coverage. And yes, I know that there are already penalties for running too far out of bounds...

Seems to me that the penalty got enforced by the knee.

The Jets have a blue-collar mentality, so they do blue-collar shiat like this, their Hard Knocks antics, shiat-talking the Pats, etc. The Pats have a white-collar mentality, so they do things like Spygate, never acting happy, and winning a whole lot of football games. Why are people surprised?

2010-12-13 01:13:03 AM
I've watched the video a number of times. I have a hard time believing that there was any contact. The sideline coach doesn't budge and inch other than the knee moving forward. I'm pretty sure if someone sprinted by and contacted my knee my body/balance would shift a little bit, if not throw my ass to the ground entirely.

But regardless, you can tell by his stance that he was trying to create some sort of contact.

Why only 15k fine on Harrison for this? Just because he wasn't in the building doesn't mind he should get lower then the standard 25k.

/Thanks Jets for providing this weeks lowlight.

Dont care for either team but...

1. Jets guy didnt seem to move at all

2. Dolphins player was more than a foot out of bounds

3. It would have been nice for the Jets guy to move backwards out of Dolphins player's way, but i didn't see any movement at all from the Jets guy. I don't think he is at fault.

4. The Dolphins guy looked like he was in a lot of agony from a simple trip. This is a guy that gets slammed to the ground by other players on almost every play out there. Smells like bullshiat, looks like a dive

All Carlos Dansby had to say about it was "Come on, man" about 50 times

Jets guy didn't move his knee for a long time prior to the Dolphins guy getting there. No reason you have to move out of the way of every idiot illegally running out of bounds during a play.

I mean, yeah, his knee is stuck out there...but how far can you stick your knee out? Six inches in that position? Hardly creating contact.

Wait, wait, wait. Why is there not a greenlight about Favre most likely not being able to start on Monday? All of the experts are saying it is "highly unlikely". Could it be a secret plan of Brent to draw more attention to himself? Impossible.

Also, stay tuned for several more threads containing the obvious, retarded, and most of all annoying "Favre unable to Favre another Favre ending his Favring streak. Favre" headlines.

/give it up PLEASE

Coach is inside coaches' box. Never leaves the coaches' box. Doesn't get any closer to the field than he's supposed to be. Has his knee in the same spot for a while before the Dolphin runs into it.

Normally, yeah, you'd move out of the way, and that's probably the courteous thing to do. But it's not required and he technically didn't do anything wrong.

2010-12-13 01:48:42 AM
Good on him for manning up to his mistake -- that may save his career. He still has to be fired and take a suspension for, at minimum, the rest of the season (which, since the Jets will lose out and miss the playoffs, is only three games anyways).

When was the last time a team as bad as the Jets was hyped as much as they are? It's just unreal. Is it mostly because of the TV show?

Well I guess you're blind and stupid, because the guy clearly extends his knee out further just as the player runs by. And he admits to it. The quote is already on this page, and everywhere else on the internet.

And really, "illegal"? What's illegal about what he was doing? Show me in the rulebook where it says he's not allowed to do what he was doing.

Mark Sanchez is the perfect example of being overrated. He sucks. You can't always count on those last minute lucky ass catches in the endzone, a solid running game, and a defense to carry your sorry ass to a win. And PLEASE stop doing that stupid "extending your arms to make it look like you're a jet flying through the air" after throwing a touchdown pass. To the viewers it just looks like you're trying to be like "one of the boys" too hard but in reality just looks farking stupid.

Well, if you get knocked out of bounds, you're supposed to get back in bounds as quickly as possible. Doesn't seem like he's making much of an effort if he can go all that way since being bumped out and still be on the coaches' box side of the sideline.

As for the back of the coaches' foot moving slightly, it seems like the type of movement you'd expect when getting hit in the knee by someone moving perpendicular to you.

Last I heard, the defenseman (he is a cornerback) can be out of bounds and still in the play.

No, he does not. Watch his heel. He flexes his knee into the path of the player.

Thanks - if you watch his foot there, you can see him lift it. I'm a Jets fan, and whether or not that was really a devastating move, that's offside. They oughtta fire the guy.

Redwing: Last I heard, the defenseman (he is a cornerback) can be out of bounds and still in the play.

I was surprised the gunner hadn't already been flagged for running down the sidelines out of bounds - he'd already been flagged for it on an earlier punt. Not getting back inbounds immediately is a 15-yarder.

It looks like the heel lifts up after Caroll runs into him to me. Not that I care about either team.

In any case, like I said and like Dalton Voss pointed out, Caroll was in the wrong being in that area.

Basically, I guess I feel about this like I did Donte Stallworth hitting a jaywalker. Yeah, Donte was in the wrong, but I'm not going to feel bad for someone who was breaking the law/rules to be in an area where they might get hit and didn't bother trying to get out of the way.

Play it frame by frame...the left knee makes an outward move just as the player passes.

I didn't see it at first either until I slowed it way down.

Hey, you run out of bounds at your own risk.

The fark do the Pats have to do with this?! And you're still whining about SpyGate? Also, I can think of a few million hard-working, blue-collar guys with Patriots stickers on their Tuffboxes and hardhats who'd dispute your socioeconomic theory there.
