I remember when the roof of the Hartford Civic Center collapsed, sparing the state from more Whalers games for a while. I have a book with a chapter about that incident. Lesson learned: don't build stadiums where it snows.

2010-12-12 08:53:04 AM
Clean it up and play the game anyway. It's football, goddamit.

Favre REALLY wants to keep his streak in tact. He even arranged for a roof collapse.

The Giants are in Kansas City already and the Chiefs are out of town so just get the Vikings down there for a neutral field game. The true fans will make the drive since they weren't going to work Monday anyway.

/Too simple of a solution

They could write a Greek Tragedy about the vikings' season. From Brett favre, to Randy Moss, Childress and now the roof collapse. At least they're not Detroit.

Hold the game in Green Bay, 280 miles, plenty of people to fill the seats and boo Farve for those who won't make the trip.

This wouldn't be an issue if the Vikings just hurried up and moved to Los Angeles.

Too wordy. This headline is much more concise while essentially getting the same message across.

2010-12-12 09:42:41 AM
Apparently, God wanted Favre to keep his streak intact.

If he should be carted off with a Theismann-type injury, look for the NFL to strike for the rest of the season, or the zombie apocalypse.

Here is the list of dome headlines in chronological order for your "submitted with a better headline" convenience. Looks like the admins picked the first one submitted.
• The roof of the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis has apparently collapsed like Favre's season
• Favre sucks, causes dome to collapse
• Like the Vikings Playoff Prospects, the Metrodome Collapses Under Heavy Weight
• At least Brett Favre still has one woman on his side... Mother Nature
• The roof, the roof, the roof is... on the ground
• The roof... The roof... The roof is on the ground (due to 20 inches of snow)
• "Brett Favre and the Metrodome roof." *opens envelope* "Things in Minnesota that have collapsed"
• Minnesota Favredome Favres under the weight from all the Favre
• Minnesota Vikings use George W. Bush's weather machine to dump 20 inches of snow on Metrodome roof and collapse it so that Favre will have another day to rest his shoulder and keep his streak alive
• Things just keep collapsing in Minneapolis
• Metro Dome roof realizes it's affiliated with the Vikings, kills itself
• Minneapolis Metrodome has collapsed
• The roof of the Metrodome, like Brett Favre's hopes for another Superbowl, has collapsed

The nightmarish weather is occasionally worth it, should you stumble into the right game. Sat through -10 degree temperatures last December to see the Browns take out the Steelers. Perfect night. All ya gotta do is bundle up.

It's fun to do once, but that's it. One time.

I want to the Bears-Seahawks playoff game back when the Bears last made the playoffs and the memory of being so cold that it hurt overwhelms everything else.

The NFL is eagerly trying to figure out a way to have this game in NY. But at least they'll call it a "home" game for the Vikings.

As a guy who lives in California who's never experienced in NFL game in bitter cold, I always just assumed the entire crowd stayed drunk the entire game so the cold wouldn't bother them.

Not as bad as I thought, getting out of the driveway and down the local streets was the worst. I-29 wasn't bad (snowwise), I just couldn't see.

Shoveling the 4ft drift in my driveway when I got home was the really shiaty part.

/I've heard of these "snowblower" machines, I may have to look into one

This is another reason why domes have no place in football.

This sort of bullshiat would never happen at Soldier Field or Lambeau Field.

Maybe the Vikings should consider not being such pussies and just play football outdoors like men.

I would have loved to get drunk but I couldn't. I drove.

Meanwhile, on the drive home, my best friend's co-worker saw fit to chuck the leftover eggs from taligate breakfast onto the interstate. Oh and my best friend's wife pissed in the cooler because we were in wall to wall traffic and she couldn't hold it anymore.

If I was given free tickets and didn't have to drive? Sure, I'd go again.
