Yea, let's celebrate someone who took it upon themselves to endanger the lives of people because he knowingly broke the law! Yea, law breakers, next we'll celebrate Charles Manson, Sirhan Sirhan, hell even Iran and Kim Jong Il and finally the 9/11 attackers. They all did "what is right" as well.

shiat why doesn't Time put him as man of the year as well.

You know who else was Time's Man of the year?

The left going forward with its time honored tradition of honoring spies and enemies of the United States.

I've been voting against the grandstanders in the local elections, but the sleepwalkers keep voting them back in. My district used to be run by one of those vibrant and elderly church lady types, and now another hippie with a haircut is in there. Some things they do very right in the town, but the Big Political Gestures are rubbish, just absolute rubbish, and have nothing to do with running a small city.

Left to right: Aldrich Ames, Jonathan Pollard, Robert Hanssen. All convicted of spying, for Russia, Israel and Russia, respectively.

Berkeley, where espionage and treason gets you free drinks and a parking space next to the mayors.

Maybe he needs to be honored with a firing squad.

While I agree a large portion of this information should not have been secret in the first place and the fact that it is now "leaked" is a good thing, I also believe the Private should be locked up for treason. This guy is not a "Hero" he is a criminal.

Just because I believe Marijuana should be legal it currently is not. Users who do not have medical licenses are indeed criminals.

2010-12-08 02:57:41 PM
Why don't they declare Leo Burt a hero too! He struck a blow against the US Army, and remains at large.

You mean like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin? They were traitors to the legal authority of their day, you know.

I was originally compelled to avoid this purposeful train wreck of a thread, but I now feel compelled to tell you that only an absolute stone idiot gets mad about "Man of the Year" issues.

2010-12-08 02:59:03 PM
Manning was bamboozled into thinking he was doing something that mattered. Unfortunately he traded in his freedom, honor and future and did nothing of value for anyone.

2010-12-08 02:59:13 PM
Well if the federal government says it's bad, they must be legit.

See someone people classify things because it hurts them personally, not because of some good intentions. I'm sure some of you motherfarkers were alive when Nixon when in office.

HERO?!?! He's a traitor and should be brought up on treason charges for leaking Top Secret files from the military. I know the UCMJ has stuff in it about this kind of action.

You know who else was a patriot and didn't endanger the lives of his spies and confidants?

What this jackwipe did was the same as Nathan Hale, not Washington.

Swing and a miss!

Except this leak hasn't led to any attacks on "innocent" people except where it details our own state's assaults, kidnappings, and tortures of innocent people.

This argument is like trying to silence someone from telling your spouse about your adultery "You might ruin my marriage!".

But *just* the fact something is "against the law" alone is not enough to merit anything as legitimate. It still has to stand on its own as "bad". Oral sex is "against the law" in some places, but that doesn't make it right that it is.
