Why do all scandals involving US presidents since Nixon involve the suffix "-gate." Watergate was the name of the hotel Nixon bugged. "Bunnygate" is retarded so is "zippergate" or Lewinskygate." Next we'll probably hear about "Iraqgate" from the '04 Democratic Canidates. The American media is so freaking uncreative and lame.

You'll never hear "Iraqgate." It just doesn't roll off the tongue. -Gate has become synonymous with "scandal" and "faux pas." It's got the benefit of being a suffix, so you can just throw in a descriptive prefix and voila, everyone know what you're talking about. It's a handy device, I say.

1979 did it say, I was knee deep in whoatemycrayonsgate. Due to out of court settlements, all court papers have been sealed and the asshat is still at large.

If this were happening in present times and it was happening to Bush, the bunny would get away (Bush ALWAYS let's the bad guys get away), and the nation would be under "Pink Alert" every six weeks in fear of more "waskally wabbits".

1979? I was in the midst of stuck-up-my-mum's-ovaries-gate.

Tim of Enchantergate. That bunny's dynamite! He's got these big pointy teeth. I think Gulfgate, or Persiagate, or terrorgate might show up. probably not WMDGate, tho. maybe interrorgate...hehehe Guantonomo BayGate... OsamaGate, Camelgate, oilgate, Rummygate DubyaGate, intelligate, nonukegate, missingmisslegate....

But 20 years ago this week, the Carter administration had to go into a deep huddle to figure out how to respond to reports that the leader of the free world had to fight off a belligerent bunny.

WTF? 20 years ago this week it was 1983, and Carter had been out of office for three years.

And who the f*ck is "Buck Wolf"? And why does supposedly reputable ABC News have a shoddy, sub-Fox News cartoon mock-up of Carter in a bunny suit?

And, from someone old enough to remember, realize that no one cared about this story then or now except for douchebag press corps hacks like "Buck Wolf", who keep endlessly embellishing this tarded-ness like it's their own war story or something.

The REAL untold story is how President Xylophone-Mouth and his hideous pack of horse-faced spawn traumatized a generation.

There's asking someone because you want advise. Then there's asking someone because you're curious about their opinion. Then there's putting your univited opinion up on the web for all and sundry to see and wondering why you don't seem to get much done any more.

We'd be that third group.

IMO, Carter was the worst president this country had in the 2nd half of the 20th. Nixon started it with price controls, and Carter was responsible for making the gas crisis of the 70's so much worse. I blame him for the Pinto, the Vega, and the Maverick as well.

Not to threadjack or anything, but why does nobody talk about Iran-Contra anymore? Maybe we're living in a different political climate than that of the mid-80's, but if the current administration was found to be selling arms to Iran, all hell would break loose.

Jimmy should've listened to this guy.

Its very chic among people who claim to know much about politics to attack Jimmy Carter's presidency. but some long-lasting and beneficial effects of Carter's presidency are still in effect today. Beyond what was mentioned at the end of the article, Carter also created the departments of energy and education.

Three cheers to the first person who posts the rabbit pic.

Nothing succeeds like success. The perceived scandal at the time wasn't dealing with the Iranians; it was dealing with the Contras, who were branded as human rights abusers by the liberals in Congress. However, ever since Daniel Ortega and his commie Sandanistas were thrown out of office, no one cares that we tried to subvert his government earlier--the arrival of democracy to Nicaragua was vindication of President Reagan's policy, despite its questionable legality.

anybody ever read the book "confessions of a secret service agent"?
this guy claimed that carter practically hated him after this (carter thought that his secret service agent was the one who told the press). the guy got kicked off the presidential detail and moved over to watching former president Nixon (in New Jersey)

I had forgotten those moves. Double curse on that effiminate loser. Malaise, it's your fault consumer, you should embrace 21% interest rates and 2 dollar a gallon gas. It's your fault. Malaise.

Jimmy Carter. I lived through his shiat as a yound adult.

Carter reported a UFO when he was Gov.- Rabbits bite and bark. The fact that this one swam surprises me but not too much. Probably was rabid.

When I was a kid growing up in Calif., there was always some report of Jerry Brown (Gov.) missing. They would eventually find him on some mountain meditating with the indiginous poeple of wherever.
