If you understand that the Republican Gods are Wealth, Profit and the US Dollar, then everything they say and do makes perfect sense.

2010-12-04 12:05:08 PM
I'm sure this will be accurately and heavily reported on in the liberal media.

Why does the GOP hate ordinary Americans?

Surprise!

a month from now the trailer trash will be furious that Obama raised their taxes again. Just watch.

Yeah--why wouldn't they? They know the Dems will give in.

A whole month?

I admire your optimism.

Marcus Aurelius: Why does the GOP hate ordinary Americans?

Because they don't have the money to donate to their campaigns.

2010-12-04 02:00:53 PM
To be fair, this is ammunition for the Democrats. If they'll actually have the balls to use it.

But, I suspect they won't. Because holding folks accountable for their actions would be too much like having some damn backbone.

It's not a "middle class tax cut." It's a tax rate reduction. As long as you have income that falls into a reduced bracket, whether you're upper or middle class, you benefit from it.

I'm so rich I don't even start counting my money until it's over half a million.

What about me sir? What about me?

I just don't get it. How in the hell can anyone in the middle class vote Republican?

It makes no sense.

Republicans to America:

All we wanna do is eat your brains.
We're not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes
We're at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise:
If you open up the doors
We'll all come inside and eat your brains.

yeah, but this is going to cost middle class voters some serious coinage. I don't get how anyone can actually support a party that costs them money. ESPECIALLY if you are voting against tax hikes, as most rank and file Republicans are wont to do.

There is no middle class, only lower-class that aspires to be middle class.

ne2d: Yeah--why wouldn't they? They know the Dems will give in.

Supposedly Pelosi has no intent of doing so and will not under any circumstances renew the extra cuts for the upper bracket. I hope that's true, because I expect they'll give in too.

because the republicans are very good at convincing people that its somehow all the liberals' fault.

and it could be a case of stockholm syndrome too.

I know. Try explaining that to my Republican-voting, Rush/Beck-worshiping parents and watch their heads roll to the side quizzically like a dog hearing a train whistle in the distance.

They are firmly convinced that there is no way the same people who are SO VERY RIGHT about the gays, abortion, abstinence, socialists (they couldn't define the term if you gave them a 40 word head start), could be wrong about taxes.

They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Well, the way to my parent's wallet is through "morality issues." Align with them on that and they'll believe anything sh*t you spew and be happy to sacrifice their financial self-interest for a rounding-error benefit for millionaires.

2010-12-04 04:06:24 PM
Good God I hope the dems have the balls to hold fast on this.

2010-12-04 04:15:29 PM
The more I think about it, the more I'm with my friend who wants the Democrats to actually make the Republicans really filibuster the bill in the Senate. Make them get up there and talk themselves blue in the face on camera to stop tax cuts.

Weaver95: I just don't get it. How in the hell can anyone in the middle class vote Republican?

Because the Republicans are the only ones willing to tell the American people the truth about the plot involving Negresses, Jewesses, Mexicanesses, Muslimesessesses and other dark elements conspiring to breed with otherwise red-blooded males of the moral community, thus turning America into a socialistic, gay-accepting, plate-tectonics-believing cesspool. The truth must be told.

Yes, except you're assuming that most rank and file Republicans will ever hear about the actual vote, and who's responsible for what.

All they'll know is that the Democrat-majority Senate raised their taxes, because there couldn't be any other explanation.

Remember - 87% of the country believe their federal taxes either were raised or stayed the same in 2009-10, even though they actually went down for 95% of wage earners. The Republican disinformation machine is extremely effective.

Because those who are poor and vote Republican think that someday they will be rich.

It's a pipe dream at best, but they keep reaching for the impossible.

kmmontandon: The Republican disinformation machine is extremely effective.

Mostly because within their core methods of propaganda dissemination - traditional media - they face no real opposition. Either they consider the topic boring, they're actively in the bag for the Repubs, or they lazily broadcast the propaganda as well as that of the "other team" and call it "fairness". The news outlets that call bullshiat with any vehemency are few, far between, and typically derided.

The internet is a different story. Facts are at arm's reach, and anyone who cares to dig for more than a few seconds will be buried in an avalanche of knowledge. There are too many competing voices and crusaders for a small handful of media megacorps to drown the truth in noise.

If the Democrats didn't have the balls to have the Republicans follow through on their filibuster threat when it came to HCR, I don't see them doing it here.

I would give the GOP a copy of the DC phone book and tell them to get reading. The minute they stop, even to go to the bathroom, call a vote.

Yet more evidence that government would be more effective if the Demoncraps stopped trying to ram unpopular bills down everyone's throats and instead learned to compromise with Republicans.

But they fixed loud TV commercials, so they've got that going for them.

FloydA: A whole month? I admire your optimism.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if the Democrats at least had the nerve to tell the middle class "Yes, the GOP insisted on blocking tax cuts across the board unless the rich got to keep their lion's share tax cut."

Of course, I'm fine with the idea of letting all the Bush era tax cuts expire.

2010-12-04 05:30:11 PM
Great. Thanks, d-bags.

Also it came out on a Saturday. It will not make the weekend news cycles, if it does it is a very passing mention and be forgotten by Monday.

2010-12-04 05:33:10 PM
And CNN writes an article carefully worded to avoid saying the word 'Republican' at any point associated with voting against this. They also fail to mention the word 'filibuster', and only mention the GOP in saying that Mitch 'the coont' McConnall 'remains hopeful of a solution' or some such lying weaselly shiat.

You country is utterly doomed.

Fiscal conservancy in pursuit of fiscal irresponsibility is still fiscal conservancy.

Heavily reported, yes. But scanning Google News, every headline says some variation of "Senate Fails...", never "Republicans block..."

This has been example # 4 billion+ of Your Liberal Media.

2010-12-04 05:35:44 PM
Tactically, if the tax cut is not extended for anyone could it not be said in the long term (read 2 years from now) that Republicans blocked an extension of tax cuts for 95% of Americans in a dangerous gambit to secure tax cuts for the other 5% and failed?

Not that the Democratic party has the balls for that. Just hypothesizing.

2010-12-04 05:36:53 PM
I'd argue to just let them all expire, but we know that's not going to happen. The rich are going to get theirs, it's inevitable.

2010-12-04 05:38:10 PM
Now it's up to the Great Compromiser to slash taxes for millionaires and pat himself on the back for his great negotiating skills.

No, according to the link, the AP should be reporting the truth, but they are effectively lying. If the AP doesn't report it, how can the Dems refer to it? The US media is betraying the voters, the Dems have no way to use this.

2010-12-04 05:40:53 PM
This is great for the Republicans since a majority of their voting bloc is millionaires and billionaires. I know this because I learned it in homeschool.

I'm going to be a billionaire someday because I pray every day to Jesus.

FTA "he vote this morning was 53-36 to extend the Bush tax cuts on incomes below $250,000 -- seven votes short of the 60 needed."

53 plus 36 equals 89. last time i checked there were 100 senators.

why the fark do you even run to be a senator if you don't even freaking vote.

and what is all this super majority bullshiat.

anyone want to guess what a senate vote on a law that would require all senators to vote on all bills would come out to.

I love it. Democrats want to raise taxes for the rich only. Republicans want to not raise anyones taxes. Of course, the Democrats say "Republicans are trying to raise everyones taxes!!!"

It's hilarious, and it won't work, and there will be an awful lot of republican red in the white house and the senate come 2012.

:) The Dems attempt to raise taxes has been defeated. Of course, this is shocking to no one.
