The problem with Alex Jones is that he has some really good guests who are saying the right things, but Alex Jones is just 18 types of crazy. I like listening to some of his interviews, but I wish they would just cut AJ out of the recordings.

Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com, previously included in the popular Google news distribution, have been banned. His YouTube channel, TheAlexJonesChannel will be banned soon as well.

Absolutely horrible move by Google. After all, when I think of reasoned, intelligent journalism and news, I think of PrisonPlanet.

Is censorship really happening in front of our eyes online? With the speed of the internet, can the government really silence the truth?

The article seems to have confused Youtube and Google with the government.

Youtube can ban your channel because artichoke kumquats. They don't need a reason, nor is it a breach of your freedoms.

My first question is: Who is Alex Jones?

Wiki:
Alexander Emerick Jones (born February 11, 1974) is an American talk radio host, actor and filmmaker. His syndicated news/talk show The Alex Jones Show, based in Austin, Texas, airs via the Genesis Communication Network over sixty AM, FM, and shortwave radio stations across the United States and on the Internet. His websites include Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com. Mainstream news sources have referred to him as right-wing, conservative, and a conspiracy theorist.

Another Glenn Beck? The market is already saturated!

2010-12-02 05:23:12 PM
Here's the deal, Alex, Google can list whatever news outlets they want on Google News, they can allow or disallow whatever videos they want on YouTube, for whatever arbitrary reasons they decide to give. Because they're not the government, they are a corporation. If you don't like it, start your own video host and news aggregation site. Hell, if you disike Google so much, why would you want your content making them money anyway?

Alex Jones is who Glenn Beck stole his routine from. Including the crying.

I can only handle Jones when there is someone there to counter his points. His monologues are very tough to take. And even if he is 100% right on everything he says, he is such an insufferable douche that I cannot listen to him.

/Just rereading my comment I realized that, if you would like, you can go ahead and substitute the name "Beck" where I wrote "Jones".

The complaint seems to be more about the actual banning that the removal from distribution on Google news, and the removal of the video was stupid anyway.

Get over yourself, Alex.

You are not important. You are not a target. You are neither interesting nor insightful nor informative nor do you have anything remotely useful to say. You are concentrated psychosis smothered in paranoia in a can of peaches & crazy, and your only contribution to media is providing a haven of delusional inquiry for Art Bell listeners after his retirement.

globalwarmingpraiser: Alex Jones is who Glenn Beck stole his routine from. Including the crying.

Difference being that Alex Jones believes what he says. Glen Beck just saw an oppurtunity to make money by exploiting idiots.

And to be fair, Alex Jones, for all his batshiat crazy conclusions, is hardly a mouthpiece of the republican party. He raged against Bush for the whole 8 years, so give the man some credit where it's due.

Ah, Alex Jones.

(Cue the wayback machine)

In 1999, Alex Jones had an access cable tv show. He was alerting everyone to prepare for the impending Y2K bug, which would wipe out everyone's money and property records, clearing the way for "the ruling elites" to confiscate property, money, and enslave the human race. He was encouraging people to stock up on supplies: rations, guns, ammo, water, and whatnot. He was also pimping, for pay, a local survivalist shop (The Hardware Store, if memory serves). They sold 8 stage water filtration systems, ham radios, rations that would last practically forever, etc.

Then 2000 hit and...nothing. He appeared to be kinda screwed at that point. Then a short time later, 9-11 happened and resurrected his "career".

He is an epic douche. I'm from Austin and its a small town in some ways. I know a lot of people that knew him at the cable access station and they farking hate him. He's a liar and scam artist.

Very true! I like tuning him in for a few minutes when I'm searching for interesting stuff on shortwave. A few minutes is all I can take though. I'd much rather listen to UVB-76 (new window) than him.

Just want to remind everyone not to overlook the comments on that site, which includes such gems as:

"Many conservatives have suggested Jones may be "controlled opposition", largely due to the number of left-leaning figures he interviews. Alex certainly does not advocate conservative positions often and when he does he seems alot like the moderare neocons who are defend radical feminists and homosexuals. Like it or not, he's helping google locate his audience when he asks them to google keywords. Not long after I started googling, I had black helicopters circling overhead and not long after that I got spotlighted by one (and my ears have been ringing alot since, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but hey, there you go). He might be a commie psyop, but I still think he's worth listening to. "

Yes, he is a fraud. And getting banned from YouTube is not the same as being censored by the gubbmint. YT can ban anyone for any reason. They don't even need a damn reason.

I disagree with 99.9 % of what comes out of his mouth, but if they take down his stuff, it just gives the crazies one more darn "conspiracy" to rant about.

Anyway, now that he's been reinstated, can we stop greenlighting this crap already? Please?

If it wasn't him cashing in on their unfounded paranoia, it would have been somebody else. I know it's douchey to preach stuff you don't believe in to the anti-Obama crowd for profit, but somebody is going to do it no matter what and all that money is just sitting there. It's kind of tempting....

Done in 4

The commenters of youtube spoke. They didn't want to see the shiat he was spewing anywhere in the community, and it was removed.

I can't listen to noise that long. Although it is arguable that Alex Jones is just noise, too.

I like to leave it on 11.175 with squelch, that's fun because I can do other stuff and when the squelch breaks it gets my attention. It's almost always test transmissions but occasionally you hear pilots or encrypted transmissions which is fun.

Comment sections are a hoot. You should see the feedback sections of websites like talkorigins.org or landoverbaptist.com

And the comments you find on youtube or here on fark leap away from psychotic and rocket into some other dimension of psycho. That's the innernets!

Hopefully this means google is tighening up the requirments on inclusion to Google news, because it was really getting ghey for a while. To be consider "news" you should actually have to be considered a news outlet. Editorial or commentary doesn't count. That means field stations and reporters that fly around and write shiat down that they come across. A couple dudes behind a computer in their pajamas upgrading their blogs to "articles" isn't much of a news outlet.

While the main problem was spammers and internet marketers, Google News might as well just clean up the whole act.

2010-12-02 05:53:33 PM
Basically, google just said that his videos don't count as news. And he's trying to confuse and mislead his mentally retarded followers by making them think they banned him entirely- despite posting a video on the account he says was banned on the site he says he was banned from.

Aronra has had troubles getting his videos banned by the fundies. Youtube seems to shut down first, ask questions later. They have a whoooooole bunch of content to monitor and rely on the community to deal with inappropriate material.

Of course, that doesn't mean there is a conspiracy.
