Only one?

I thought you'd get three shots at it in 8 seconds.

I'm pretty sure he's still using it. Either way: I am definitely not looking forward to the conspiracy nuts hearing this: "If Oswald's really dead, then why is his coffin for sale? Look at the evidence, sheeple!"

I'd bid, but I'm afraid I'll be sniped at the last second...

If it's REALLY Oswald's coffin, why didn't the mothership take it to bury him back on Mars with Elvis?

I just wish someone had linked to an article that explained how his coffin could be for sale.

The pine coffin is partially water-damaged by the 18 years it spent in the ground before Oswald's body was exhumed in 1981 to lay to rest rumors that a lookalike Soviet agent was buried in his place.

The body -- confirmed as genuinely his -- was reburied in another casket, and the original is only now being offered for sale at auction.

I'm just not even sure where to begin with this one.

1. I thought Oswald was a Soviet agent, in which case, wouldn't a "lookalike Soviet agent" be redundant?

2. Having confirmed that it was in fact the genuine Oswald-the-Soviet-agent and not Oswaldnov-the-Soviet-agent, what did that prove, exactly?

3. Why did they hang onto an old, water-damaged pine coffin for 30 years?

4. Why did they feel the need to auction it off NOW?

5. Without Oswald's body in it, why would anyone want a beatup old pine box? (And WITH Oswald's body in it, just, ew.)

The images look a lot like a 30 year old water-damaged pine coffin without a body in it, BTW.

I was going to come and ask how his coffin could be for sale, but I didn't want everybody to laugh at me because there was some obvious thing I missed. Coffin....dead body....coffin....dead guy....I don't get it.

Nothing is obscure here. On another note, I've been to the 6th floor museum in Dallas and saw where he was shooting from. Wouldn't have been a difficult shot and I have no trouble believing he acted alone. Even if it was a conspiracy to kill the President, they wouldn't have planned a crossfire because they would have realized, like I did, that any marksman worth his salt would have been able to take out JFK from that window.

The only possible theory I give any credence to is a scumbag hitman named Chuck Harrelson, now rotting in a Texas supermax for killing a Federal judge, who claimed once to have been the "grassy knoll" shooter. Harrelson later said he was high on cocaine when he made the statement to cops...

...but I knew the lady who had been his wife during that time, and he must have forgotten he claimed the same thing many other times when he wasn't high; and she believed he was at least CAPABLE of having done the job and had the connections to have been contacted to do it. Whether or not he really did it will never be known.

Hard to trust a scumbag drug dealer and hitman; but who knows?

I too believe he acted alone. However, I also believe that there was a conspiracy -- by the Kennedy family to conceal that fact that JFK had Addison's Disease. Addison's in crisis stage can result in confusion, psychosis, slurred speech, and loss of consciousness (among other symptoms) none of which are desirable in a president, especially with the nuclear war clock set at 11:59 pm! JFK was a very sick man and had the veil of secrecy about his disease been lifted, the American people would have realized that he never should have been president in the first place.

I also was hoping that we would get an explanation of what Robert and Edward did with their brother's brain, which was removed at autopsy and subsequently disappeared, but we will never find out the answer to that conspiracy as I suspect Teddy took the secret to his grave.

HARTMAN: Do any of you people know who Charles Whitman was? None of you dumb asses knows? Private Cowboy?

COWBOY: Sir, he was that guy who shot all those people from that tower in Austin, Texas, sir!

HARTMAN: That's affirmative. Charles Whitman killed twelve people from a twenty-eight-story observation tower at the University of Texas from distances up to four hundred yards. Anybody know who Lee Harvey Oswald was? Private Snowball?

SNOWBALL: Sir, he shot Kennedy, sir!

HARTMAN: That's right, and do you know how far away he was?

SNOWBALL: Sir, it was pretty far! From that book suppository building, sir!

HARTMAN: All right, knock it off! Two hundred and fifty feet! He was two hundred and fifty feet away and shooting at a moving target. Oswald got off three rounds with an old Italian bolt action rifle in only six seconds and scored two hits, including a head shot! Do any of you people know where these individuals learned to shoot? Private Joker?

JOKER: Sir, in the Marines, sir!

HARTMAN: In the Marines! Outstanding! Those individuals showed what one motivated marine and his rifle can do! And before you ladies leave my island, you will be able to do the same thing!

I have never heard an expert comment on my theory, but I think the DC gunman pulled off some better shots. I might be totally wrong though.

Have any of you compared the two?

If you are bidding just be sure you don't get sniped right as the auction ends.

Having stood in the School Book Depository, looking at the angle and distance to target Oswald had as someone who qualified Expert with an M-16 rifle...

...I laugh hysterically whenever someone suggests Oswald couldn't have done it. Scope? Hell, I make that shot with an iron sight at 250 feet.

Some people though don't want to believe that a whack job with the talent and at least adequate tools could kill what to them was the greatest American of their generation. He could, and he did. It is a cautionary tale of just how quickly a promising life can be snuffed out.

If anyone else is to be blamed for Kennedy's death, it is the Secret Service who should have had every floor of that building cleared. Gross negligence, whether it's in the military, other government service, or some other endeavor can and does get people dead.

I've also been there. I have no opinion about whether he could make the shot or not since I am not a markswomen.

//still believes that some tantalizing bit of evidence/testimony has yet to pop up, though I do believe that a capable shooter from the TSD window could indeed have done it alone.
