Hmmm.. Protein...

2003-07-02 05:32:03 PM

"Township is back open after a tractor-trailer lost its load -- leaving a foul-smelling mess of raw chicken, turkey and cattle remains spilled across the highway this morning."

They should dump this with the blobby thing in the link down below, so that we can get another link about this.

Then we can play, "Will it float ?"

2003-07-02 05:32:07 PM
um...why are they transporting animal remains across the highway?

2003-07-02 05:32:09 PM

2003-07-02 05:32:25 PM

2003-07-02 05:33:26 PM

Note to self - avoid buying any Valley Proteins products.

Soon to be appearing at your local McDonalds.

"His wet load product shifted and spilled over the front of the tractor-trailer."

That brings a scary image to mind.

2003-07-02 05:35:22 PM
"His wet load product shifted and spilled over the front of the tractor-trailer. He proceeded down the highway, pulled off -- he was unaware at that time how severe the spill was..."

Anyone else find that slightly amusing?

Hormel has to put off lawsuit to recoup money lost from the truck accident spilling all the ingredients of their well branded "Spam"

2003-07-02 05:36:25 PM
raw chicken, turkey, and cattle remains

Ahhhh, nature's perfect food...

2003-07-02 05:36:41 PM
Not a biggie. They will make sausage out of the stuff instead.

2003-07-02 05:36:49 PM
Wet load

Apparantly so.

2003-07-02 05:37:05 PM
ifarkthereforiam found it slightly amusing.

2003-07-02 05:37:41 PM
Would this be better suited to BBQ or tandoori style cooking?

2003-07-02 05:39:00 PM
State police say they're planning to cite the driver and the company for failing to secure a load.

I hate when I dont have my sock handy and cant secure my load!!

"His wet load product shifted and spilled over the front of the tractor-trailer. He proceeded down the highway, pulled off -- he was unaware at that time how severe the spill was..."-- Chief Rich Ballik, New Alexandria Fire Department

lol..... wet load.....

Highway, water supply... what's the difference?

You want a real treat? Drive down Rt. 13 in Virginia (or is it Delaware?). You get to pass the Tyson plant, and the Perdue plant. Smells delicious!

2003-07-02 05:39:56 PM
GIS for "wet load":

2003-07-02 05:40:12 PM
For some reason, this came to mind.

2003-07-02 05:40:39 PM
..and that's Delaware with all the nasty chicken factories.

2003-07-02 05:42:47 PM
This craziness always happens around Pittsburgh. Always. Oi vey. The place is weird.

2003-07-02 05:43:14 PM
Route 22, Derry Township -- the new vacation destination for the nation's crow and vulture populations.

2003-07-02 05:43:59 PM
Thanks, CakeOrDeath. That's right, Delaware is factories, Virginia has the places that sell ham and fireworks...

2003-07-02 05:44:06 PM
Fuzzygirl18: your story is much more entertaining...

No offense, but girls can be pretty gullible sometimes.

2003-07-02 05:45:03 PM
Nearly nine hours after the road closed for the cleanup, crews reopened Route 22 around 11am.

If I do the math, that means that the spill happened at 2:00 a.m. Do you really think these people spent all night cleaning up the mess?

I'm betting it just sat there till the first-shift cops came on duty at 8:00.

2003-07-02 05:45:37 PM
But, but...

Why did the chicken remains cross the road? Why? Why?

2003-07-02 05:46:09 PM
It was probably being shipped to China. They find a home for many "foods" that other cultures find inedible. Tyson, for example, exports all its chicken feet to China.

2003-07-02 05:47:14 PM
fark it yes i found that very amusing! and yet strangely warming to my very soul....

2003-07-02 05:47:27 PM
Fuzzygirl18:

That was some story. A bit more interesting than this one. What I found amusing was that the girls found that the cream tasted like semen.

How did they know? :)

2003-07-02 05:47:36 PM
They were CLEARLY driving this stuff south to the Chilean Blob.

2003-07-02 05:48:59 PM

Repeat the following sentence using Beavis'(of Beavis and Butthead) voice:

"His wet-load product spilled all over the place."

huh-huh. huh-huh. He said wet load. huh-huh.

2003-07-02 05:57:04 PM
Clean up on Route 22, please.

2003-07-02 05:58:39 PM
If any of you think that chicken, turkey and beef make it into McDonald's you are sorely sorely mistaken.

2003-07-02 06:04:31 PM
Damn that's enough to make you go vegetarian.

2003-07-02 06:07:48 PM
I couldn't get past the His wet load

More proof that surfing the internet for porn at work always comes to a bad end.

This was no truck accident!

2003-07-02 07:58:48 PM
Yes, cathgrey, this crap always happens around Pittsburgh... chances are this happened due to typical Pittsburgh driving styles.

2003-07-02 09:04:10 PM
This sounds like a job for...

Commander Chuck Street!!!

2003-07-02 10:38:23 PM
I submitted the WPXI version of this story. It turns out the stuff was spread over 50 yards of the highway.

It's pretty hilarious watching the reports on TV.

2003-07-03 12:34:48 AM
Ahhhh, smell that fresh Derry-air!
