It should be interesting to see which direction the OUTRAGE goes in this one.

One book for children as young as six is said to ask them what happens to someone who dies who is not a believer in Islam - the correct answer is "hellfire".

British Schools Muslim Rules, which will be aired tonight on BBC One at 8.30pm, says other texts for the pupils are said to claim that Zionists want to establish world domination for Jews, a spokesman said.

i believe the jews even have a word for their nefarious plot. something like "caliphate" i think?

Why does it not surprise me that all of this is part of the Saudi national curriculum.

And this is an outrage why, exactly? I learned the same things in Catholic school, in England, and no one seemed to give a damn.

Aarontology: "It should be interesting to see which direction the OUTRAGE goes in this one."

It is of course the BBC's fault for reporting this. They clearly fabricated those tests. As we all know, Islam is a progressive religion which is completely consonant with egalitarian ideals such as women's rights, gay rights, and freedom of religion.

Some textbooks are said to teach the correct way to chop off the hands and feet of thieves.

Mr. Axe goes across the street, not down it.

I would be surprised to learn that Saudi Arabia has a "national curriculum." They leave most of that social services stuff to the charities that radicalize the population and export terrorists.

Unh-huh. And God will send bears to eat you if you make fun of bald people, but it's OK to sell your daughter into prostitution or kill people if they have a different God than you do.

Take a close look at the tenets of any religion and you are left with no choice but to abandon all faith in humanity. We white folks just like to focus on the bad religion those brown people on the wrong side of the planet practice. It makes us feel better about our ongoing, decade-old effort to exterminate them.

I saw the documentary "Jesus Camp" over the weekend.

Boy, there are a lot of similarities between the folks profiled in the film and the folks who support the curriculum mentioned here. Too bad neither group could possibly recognize how similar they are.

Another somewhat more sensational source quotes the Saudis as saying it was "dangerously deceptive and misleading to address such texts and discuss them out of their overall historical, cultural and linguistic contexts".

I'll just leave this here.

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear
You've got to be taught
From year to Year
It's got to be drummed
in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught
To be Afraid
Of people whose eyes
are oddly made
And people whose skin
Is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught
Before it's too late
Before you are 6 or 7 or 8
To hate all the people
your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught

/atheism is the default setting.

Wow, the Muslims are even wackier than the KKK/Aryan nation types who think white people are hte decendents of Abel, Jews are the decentdents of Cain, and blacks and Asians are evolved from monkeys.

How many Christians are calling for the death of homosexuals? That's right, none. Not even that nut job Fred Phelps.

This. Fred Phelps is, at the moment, pretty much the worst thing that Christianity has to offer, but by Islamic standards he'd be a "moderate".

I don't know, people are awfully apt to invent nature deities when not otherwise educated. And teaching hatred/fear of the different is certainly not necessary; either. Redirecting it to a specific goal, is, but kids grow up with egotism built-in and must be taught to appreciate/tolerate differences.

Hey, what's going on here, every religion thread is supposed to turn into a Christian-bashing thread within 30 posts. This is Fark, isn't it?

I like how everyone's comparing the radical elements of a religion that regularly has suicide bombers blow themselves in crowds of civilians, and the radical elements of a religion that just likes to arm itself with loads of weapons for the day when Islam (or the Chinese, or our own government, or whoever) try to take us over. The former are a bunch of psychopaths, the latter are just being rational.

You don't see the "Jesus Camp" people, as weird as they are, infiltrating into Muslim countries.

I was going to post something about the israeli curriculum WRT arabs as a counterpoint, but then I RTFA. This is in the UK? Crap. This is why you don't allow religious groups to run schools. Muslim, christian, jewish, buddhist, whatever.

The BBC just discovered the Koran? This material isn't based on a Saudi curriculum, it's straight out of the Islamic holy text.

Sura 2:65 And you know well the story of those among you who broke Sabbath. We said to them: "Be apes-despised and hated by all." 66 Thus We made their end a warning to the people of their time and succeeding generation, and an admonition for God-fearing people. (Maududi)

Sura 5:60 Then say: "Should I inform you of those, who will have even worse recompense from Allah than the transgressors? They are those whom Allah has cursed; who have been under His wrath; some of whom were turned into apes and swine"

Sura 7:166 But when even after this they disdainfully persisted in that from which they were forbidden, We said to them, "Become apes-despised and disgraced!"

Come back to reality. Xtianity is the most aggressive, invasive, and propagandizing religious group on the planet. They infiltrate every populated square mile with frothing missionaries who will stop at nothing to persuade non-believers. They specialize in such tactics as teaching Africans that condoms do not prevent the spread of AIDS in their misguided efforts to force them to resort to celibacy. It had the opposite effect, and they are directly responsible for a huge decline in the number of Africans practicing safe sex.

But you go on thinking your xenophobic, racist, inbred, uneducated floor-wigglin, tongue-speakin, god-fearin xtians is the righteous folks of the Earth. Every stupid person I know thinks every club they belong to is the best one there is.

Aarontology: It should be interesting to see which direction the OUTRAGE goes in this one.

It doesn't matter... we could never summon the rage and hatred for Muslims that they have for the others within their own religion. Sure they like to shout about infidels and Jews, but when it comes down to it they're murdering civilian Muslims, many devout Muslims doing nothing wrong in droves. Bombs on buses, bombs in schools, bombs in marketplaces are killing other Muslims for being a few tiny shades different in their beliefs.

I am surprised that subscribers to faith in modern times will accept ridiculous statements claiming supernatural things are going on, like people transforming into other animals. That sh*t would be all over YouTube.
