Which is why TSA exists at all.

They know all about the bathrooms at MSP, though.

They are out of touch. The fly in private jets and motorcades and are all millionaires. They don't pump their own gas, they don't make their own meals.

It's not always that easy. Senator Kennedy once had to endure being on the on the no-fly list for a moment until he made a call and had himself removed. I'm sure one of these days there will be a mixup and Boehner will have to wait with the underclasses a few minutes before he can cut ahead.

If he actually did it like the rest of us, I'd be impressed. As is, all I got was, "I get special treatment, but at least I was NEAR you unwashed masses! Aren't I great?"

And some of them are also fat.

They fly around in a whole massive private jet fleet airline funded by tax payers. Go to the Joint Forces Air Show outside of DC and talk to the pilots

It's all fun and games, until your 5 year old little girl gets to have her first random pat-down.

2010-11-20 08:59:33 AM
Michael Steel, a spokesman for the Republican leader, said in a statement that Mr. Boehner was not receiving special treatment.

this guy just continues to demonstrate that he's an idiot.

but i like how he's been downgrades from RNC chair to a spokesman.

Given that the mindset of most politicians is the same as a two-year-old who sees another two-year-old with a toy, I think it's safe to say that ALL politicians will be demanding/getting this treatment before long.

If someone was really thinking, they'd try to have him tgo through security with everyone else and then allow the TSA to tell them no and o go around, due to the hassel of dealing with his security detail.

It'd make him look good and TSA look even worse again.

If he was lucky, he might get some idiot TSA drone to try to detain him.

Of course, they're never smart about this kinda thing.

2010-11-20 09:06:24 AM
The only time anything gets done in this country is when a *family member* of a politician gets entangled in some annoyance we put with every day. Speed traps, early termination fees, ticketmaster... when Boehner's niece gets felt up by a morbidly obese TSA agent we'll see some action, until then we're farked.

I see the "all the news that fit to manipulate" paper didn't even mention Pelosi and her refusal to fly commercial with the unwashed masses and thus she completely avoids the TSA.

2010-11-20 09:09:41 AM
Screw it, I'm running for President! I'll cut government spending! I know I know, you've heard this one before, but I'll actually tell you how. TSA get's scrapped, save for the Sky Marshalls. Take 10% of TSA funding, put it straight to the sky marshal program, you get to go through a metal detector. 90% savings, and a mouthbreather doesn't get to grope your daughter, with me so far? Next, ONLY the president and vice president get a special plane. Senators, judges, all the rest of them, travel just like we do. That's gotta save a few billion. Third, every no bid contract is cancelled. All contracts have to go through an OPEN approval process. Secret service gets standing orders to shoot all members of any lobby on sight.

Furthermore, Caturday becomes a national holiday.
5pm on Fridays officially becomes "Beer O'clock"
And, finally, I will mandate that Drew bring back the Boobies tag.

Do I have your vote?

Taxpayer Airlines- the Wings of Congress. No TSA screening, no waiting, and no idea what the public has to deal with. Just photo ops and fundraising-- and getting paid for it.

I flew with John McCain about 4 weeks ago, and he went through screening like the rest of us (and was flying alone).

There's plenty of reasons to hate on the Times, but at least read the farking article before showing your own bias.

Have you ever been on a MAC flight? It ain't wine and roses, even the VIPs get herded onto crappy planes without soundproofing and get to fend for themselves for food nstuf. However, a MAC flight is actually cheaper than expensing Delta (for example) flights. As for her not dealing with _hoi polloi_, yup, but she also never hit the same airports as we do, it's .mil base to .mil base (typically, .mil bases aren't exactly located for their convenience to major metro areas, unlike airports). My idea is rather simple, if you fly commercial, get the same grope everyone else does, no special treatment, if you fly military, follow those rules, no special treatment there either. Boner is having his cake and eating it too.

I never thought I'd use this argument, and will iron my hands immediately afterwords.
The 6 year old kids that they molest also travel with their own security detail, which is far superior to what the TSA provides. Yet, they still have to go through the BS. Just because Mr. Boner has his own goon squad should not make him exempt.

I love the pic of the Tea Moron with the sign that says "Throw out all the bums who voted for higher taxes" when all it takes is turning off Fox News and doing a little research to find no one has had their taxes raised since Obama took office.

Does his security detail grope him? Does he get to walk in front of pornoscanners? Unless his security detail treats him like a convicted criminal, not even close to the same.

Pointing out that a farker has gone full retard is not to support Pelosi. And teabagger is not a racist label; it's a political label.

Moreover, the farker's rhetoric is obviously of that ilk:

Hatred of NYT? Check
Hatred of Pelosi? Check
Populist? Check

It's self-identification.

It's not that he's "exempt" - TSA has an agreement with the security details. I'm sure it's a bit more detailed than "go right in please."

And no, mommy doesn't count as a security detail to anyone but mommy.

They're all already rich, so they're out of touch when they arrive in Washington. They've already had their asses kissed, and been wined and dined by the economic elite, in order to get enough money to win the race.

Of course, simpletons who believe that all incoming freshman Congressman are winsome innocent Jimmy Stewart types, who will only subsequently be corrupted by the evil Beltway, are also the rubes who believe that Sarah Palin is a gee-shucks kinda gal who drives around Amurrica with Todd at the steering wheel of their Winnebago, visitin' real folks. They refuse to admit the venal truth, that she's taking private planes around to her various $peaking gigs.

I find this story very hard to believe.

An elected Republican member of Congress turning down an opportunity to be groped by another man in an airport? Most unlikely.
