how are they supposed to negotiate if the Democrats are not willing to do the GOP's exact bidding?

Sir, does this mean the economy is going to collapse because we're fighting like children?

Oh, sweet!

hey Boehner. where are the jobs?
You should be congratulating Obama for saving GM and over a million jobs.

And the echo chamber will eat it up.

Meanwhile, McConnell skips out on a dinner on bipartisanship THAT HE ASKED FOR to go to a partisan event where they almost certaintly biatched about how partisan Obama was.

Why anyone is surprised by this is beyond me.

It is only going to get worse as the Republicans over-play their hand for the next two years.

Obama wouldn't even include the Republicans in the secret negotiations for Obamacare and now they are supposed to show up for meetings on demand when the Great One snaps his boney nicotine-stained fingers?

Typical Democrat partiers. After two years of getting their way on everything and claiming to work with Republicans, they're going to pout and sulk because the voters repudiated their agenda.

Instead of dealing with the issues here at home by meeting with Republican leaders, Obama flew across the international dateline to spend more taxpayer money to fail at diplomacy.

I'm sure Obama regrets his first two years. But hindsight is 20/20, and he can't change past. But he can change the future by spending just 48 hours in Washington to meet with Boehner and McConnell for 60 minutes to solve our tax issues.

That'd be wishful thinking, though. He'll just drag Boehner into the crossfire between Democrat politicians and the liberal media, and the country will burn while Obama fiddles a debt-laden tune.

Just curious about something... did you folks that voted for Republicans do so because you wanted them to do something? If so, what exactly did you vote for them to do?

I know that when I vote, I pick the person who I think will best serve the people (as in actually keep the general populace in mind while they're governing). I'm just not quite getting why it is you folks voted for Republicans unless this is what you wanted them to do...

Heysomefarkingpenguinatemysammich!: And like all the other threads in the Politics tab this turns into Troll Theatre.

Yep... Drowning out bad press by threadshiatting is more common than it used to be.

The cycle seems to work something like this:

1. Asshat creates an account.
2. Asshat looks for any thread that doesn't agree with the Republican playbook.
3. Asshat threadshiats until their inane ramblings have driven the topic completely off track (usually making themselves a target instead).
4. Asshat finds a new thread and continues threadshiatting.
5. People begin to place the asshat on ignore or just don't bother replying to the asshat anymore.
6. Asshat's threadshiatting becomes ineffective since nobody even sees it or replies to it.
7. Asshat abandons the account and returns to step 1.

Fark isn't the only place that suffers from this kind of behavior though... Essentially it's the anonymity that supports that shiat. They can't really be held accountable for the bullshiat they spew over the internet since they do it mostly anonymously. Just try to remember, what you are seeing is their real character. The smiles and polite talk they utilize when dealing with people face to face is just a front. They are, in fact, every bit as ugly and repugnant as they appear to be online and would act the same way if they didn't face real world consequences for it.

I would love to see a "reality show" where people who act like asshats on the internet were tracked down and confronted with their asshatery in person. I think a show like that would get some pretty good ratings. :)

Oh the UI benefits is merely the tip of the Boner. That Boner has a long shaft that will be deep in all kinds of stupid crap between now and 2012. You can ride on that Boner until then and see how uncomfortable it is. But in 2012 you'll get off of it realized that it just wanted to screw you. The majority of Americans will reject that pitiful Boner and vote for the better man. Because like they say, once you go black, you can never go back.

1) Pick your favorite Boehner, I don't care.

2) Give me two days inside his office, sizing up the Boehner.

3) Then let me join the other side a put together a counter-Boehner strategy.

You won't have a chance.

Not because I'm a bigger Boehner tactician, which I am, but because I have such a huge Boehner advantage over you.

At what point does our dysfunctional government begin to resemble that of the near-collapse Soviet Union? We no longer debate whether we should be investing in our country or if so where. There is no longer any attempt to develop any sort of cohesiveness, or orchestrate a direction that would allow for progress to be made. Instead, we "little people" watch somewhat passively as our government (if you can realistically call it that) continues to tear itself apart, at our expense.

Being old enough to have watched the disintegration of the Soviet Union, I was hoping that we wouldn't implode in much the same way. Of course, as long as you have solid ties to whatever mob replaces this farce of a government, everything will be okay in the breadlines.
