But they have given us so much

Cripes, what did all of the soldiers in WWII ever do to them? Oh that's right, a whole lot died to help them take back their land. I have to agree with EvoloveYouPutz, that they can moan and complain about the current events, but that does not give them the right to take away from the sacrifices of people who fought and died for them.

I'm waiting for all of the remaining WWII vets to go beat some french arse, because they dont put up with stuff like this.

Hooray for tough crotchety old veterans, they saved the world.
2003-07-01 01:29:53 PM
that's some coincidental, targeted vandalism perpetrated by the local idiot museum curators of official french museums, asv.

voice of reason, indeed.
2003-07-01 01:29:53 PM
Hey, guess what? France has assholes! They loudly diss America.
Hey, guess what? America has assholes! They loudly diss the French.

Maybe the smart French people and the smart Americans can just make our own country and let our idiot bretheren move someplace warm and jingoistic.
2003-07-01 01:30:05 PM
"stop whining about all we have done for the French. If not for them we would not have won our shut your pie holes."

You cant possibly mean that. The French were instituting a long time war-time tradition. If someone is fighting your enemy--help them out. The French were not helping us out because they liked us or our cause, but because they hated the British.
2003-07-01 01:30:14 PM
So you mean to say that if I act like a childish cock that another may respond by acting like a childish cock TOWARDS ME?

fascinating, you learn something every day
2003-07-01 01:30:15 PM

Check your post knucklehead, I did not bring up WW2. The French suck for many reasons. They are asshats, as are you. And they did not do much during our war, they just ate cheese and picked fleas.
2003-07-01 01:30:25 PM
"I can't blame the French since we Americans behaved so rudely, blah blah blah."

Wimp ass liberals.
2003-07-01 01:30:59 PM
It's a bit more sensible than the French renaming "texas toast" to "freedom toast" or doing the same as we did to create these regrettable foods -
[image from too old to be available]
why can't we all just accept that the US administration lied, the french were right to oppose our unjust and unlawful war and we are going to hell in a handbasket thanks to our neoconnazi administration..
2003-07-01 01:31:00 PM
I believe everything I see on the internet. This MUST be true. Photo-what? Nah they have pictures. You can't change pictures.
2003-07-01 01:31:09 PM
Those nasty French!

2003-07-01 01:31:22 PM
We didn't fight the Germans in France out of some benevolent goodwill towards the French. We did it to protect our own commercial interests in Europe.

And now, it is time to take down the American flag. It's time to give the thoughtless jingoism a break. American bombs are killing people all over the world. We have a stupid asshat self-proclaimed 'president' who seems to get his jollies bombing countries to make himself look like the man he wishes he could be.

We should take a cue from France and lay off the stars and stripes until we're better global citizens.
2003-07-01 01:31:23 PM
Well, after they had to take down their French flags from the Sofitel Hotel chain in New York because of the backlash concerning the Iraqui invasion, who can blame them by dabbling in the sandbox.
2003-07-01 01:31:50 PM
Lets all keep quiet or someone will make a song like Ugly American again. No one wants that.
2003-07-01 01:32:07 PM
koob: Do you really think that many people in France eat American cheese?

"Hmmm I want something to go with dinner, and I'm sick of all the fine cheeses that the rest of the world pays us top dollar for....I know, I'll have the bland orange squares of oil and milk-like product wrapped in cellophane!!"

END SCENE [remove beret]
2003-07-01 01:32:18 PM
I've been to this museum, and it's a privately owned one. It's not as if the French Gov't did this, or even sanctioned it. This is no different than some American Fox Newsite restaurant owner putting "Freedom Fries" on the menu.
2003-07-01 01:32:30 PM
I anyone has read the article, it is things for sale in the SOUVINER shop. The rest of the respectful D-Day monuments are still there unchanged. That is the biggest difference.

Continue flame war anyway.
2003-07-01 01:32:57 PM

You mean the war to Spite England? Because that is why France helped us, not because they wanted American independance or freedom, they just hated the English. Besides, not all French were eager to help us. Prior to Arnold's defection, he led an invasion of Canada. A subsequent British invasion of the colonies was turned back, but Americans were disappointed. They had hoped that the former French citizens would rally to the American cause, but the Canadians did not do so.

I think it is funny that you whiners are mad at the French for not backing a liar. I also think you dorks are mad at the French because they are the only country more arrogant than we are. I bet you losers like it when all other countries bow down before the USA. Well the snotty French will not do it. Why don't we whine about Germany or all the other countries that did not support of war of lies?

I also think you guys cannot get over the fact that we owe or freedom to the French.
2003-07-01 01:33:50 PM
Heh, he called them "assclowns".
2003-07-01 01:33:50 PM
Tarvuz: if we're counting paybacks, we repaid the French for their help in our war of independence with our bailing them out in World War I. World War II was a freebie.

Of course, things like this can't be counted in terms of who owes whom; neither of us would be here (in anything like our present forms, at least) without the other.

Having said that, the French were over the line this time. It's one thing to not want to join in with us in Iraq, it's a whole 'nother thing altogether to have opposed us and smeared us in the manner they did. I would have expected that from our worst enemy, not a supposed friend.
2003-07-01 01:34:26 PM
Phooey! It's all he-said, she-said:

What's extremly funny is that I was at Bayeux this WE.
And I've seen those missing flags ... are you sure you don't removed those flags yourself ?
Do you mind posting high resolution picture to just to see if they were not doctored ?
I case you wonder : I don't trust you I think you are stirring the pot just for your own pleasure.

Ok...Germany officially sucks for not backing the war...

/feel much better now...

"We have a stupid asshat self-proclaimed 'president' "

Self proclaimed? I thought that we voted for presidents.
2003-07-01 01:35:04 PM
Yes eyeball. I was being literal. I'm sure that everything we have here is named the same everywhere because America is the world. I wasn't making a comment about how stupid it is to change the name of something because French is in it.
2003-07-01 01:35:17 PM
The way the French treat Americans who visit is somewhat justified. I travel there a lot and my fellow countrymen/women are offensive, arrogant and rude. We need to be more cognizant of other people's cultures and quit going to their country and walk around demanding everyone speak english. With McD's crammed in their pieholes.

Our politician's behavior towards countries that don't support us is childish and asisnine. We preach freedom of speech and beliefs yet we demand everyone toe our party line. I'm rather glad that a few countries decided not to play Shrub's little war game. Makes for a more interesting world.

Its a gift shop people. You can't buy a farking american flag pin in the gift shop. Wow. Lets bomb them all.
2003-07-01 01:35:43 PM
Why does this even matter? Some little nation is defacing its monuments to insult Americans? Who cares? Now, if this was happening in India, or China, or a nation that actually mattered, it would be news. Quick, name your country's ambassador to France. Didn't think so.
2003-07-01 01:35:47 PM
"I've been to this museum, and it's a privately owned one. "

Heheh. So it's like the museum of slavery I went to where the slaves were all in hammocks and the white people were hiding in the basement?
2003-07-01 01:35:53 PM
They owe us, big.

of course they do, because Nazi Germany and Japan would have just stopped when they'd taken over the entire world except America. Then they would have allowed the people of the US to carry on living your lives without bothering them and perhaps engaging in some lucrative trade agreements to pass the time.

good grief.
2003-07-01 01:35:54 PM
Eyeballkid: Considering their profane love of Jerry Lewis it wouldn't surprise me if they're having imported Kraft Singles with their glass of Bordeaux.
2003-07-01 01:36:08 PM
silly humans..all this petty bickering.
No wonder the borg haven't assimilated us yet..they don't want to ruin their collective.
2003-07-01 01:36:14 PM
Hell, with how much we're bashing the French these days, more power to 'em if some museaum wants to put the American lapel pins in storage for a while.
2003-07-01 01:36:26 PM

So....should I just go ahead and cancel my planned Bastille Day festivities?
2003-07-01 01:37:22 PM
Lets clear this up right now. Aint no country more arrogant that the United States. And we deserve to be so. USA rocks, look at all the great things we have given the world. Henry Ford with cars for the masses. Edison with Electricity. Eli Whitny with the cotton gin. And lets not forget the slim jim. Yea, we are da bomb baby, dont like it, leave.
2003-07-01 01:37:24 PM
France would make an excellent testing ground for our MOAB.

I hope the ghosts of our soldiers who died fighting for their frog asses piss in their wine barrels.
2003-07-01 01:37:31 PM

Who cares? Why make such a big debate of it?

It's not like France matters or will ever make a difference.

"Well, after they had to take down their French flags from the Sofitel Hotel chain in New York because of the backlash concerning the Iraqui invasion, who can blame them by dabbling in the sandbox."

They did that on their own. No one forced them to. No one broke their windows. No one tried to bomb the place. They surrendered before there was even a real threat in typical French fashion.
2003-07-01 01:37:42 PM
Enough said

2003-07-01 01:37:46 PM
nope Mrfancypants it's the electoral college - thus why we have an assclown neocon freak running this country who lost by 500,000 popular votes..
2003-07-01 01:37:53 PM
Dorsai ... I suppose technically the French were in Indochina first and softened up the Vietcong so that the US could go and and wipe .... oh wait, never mind.

/continue flame war
2003-07-01 01:37:57 PM
They have always hated Americans and they always will. It's past time to question why or how we can fix it.

Boycott them. Ignore them.
2003-07-01 01:37:59 PM
Asinine?!? Amusing!
2003-07-01 01:38:01 PM
yeah, fark the sun i farkin hate it too.
2003-07-01 01:38:36 PM
Hrm... the French goverment acted a little dubious in the Iraqi conflict, as France has financial interests in Iraq.

BUT: This news article is about what some local asshats did. Don't blame the rest of the country.

AND: If it weren't for the french, there would be no US of farkin A, so STFU about France 'owing' you something.
2003-07-01 01:38:45 PM
Eyeball, as long as its normal mustard and not any of that fancy crap. It needs to come from a yellow squeeze bottle.
