I just love how the goalie's like "Oh, hey, cool. I don't even have to make a stop."

That was only one of his fark ups - with about 2 minutes left in regulation he had a breakaway, came in alone on the goalie, wound up, and put a slap shot off the glass about 10 ft over the goalie's head. Announcers said the puck was on egde - sorry, it wasn't.

/Devils are killing me

Anyone not getting the video through these douchebags?

In fact, the entire Gawker network isn't playing nice with FF+NoScript, at least on my computer.

Poor Lou, I think he had Kovalchuk foisted on him by the owners.

I think The Devils are having such a terrible time of it, that Satan is crying in his room and he won't come out.

/still hoping that Miroslav gets that just-prior-to-retirement 1-year contract to play in NJ.

2010-11-11 08:23:02 AM
He was just afraid of the power that is Shootout King Jhonas Enroth. Who happens to be the Sabres 3rd string goalie. Rick Jeanneret had a lot of fun with that one.

The shootout has been one of the most welcome additions to the NHL in the last few years.

What the fark are they smoking over there? Of Bettman's dumb decisions (& there have been more than several lifetimes's worth with that mental giant), THIS is the worst of them all. YOU DON'T DECIDE A TEAM SPORT WITH INDIVIDUAL ANTICS.

/grrr, time for some decaf

I watched that game. I couldn't stop laughing when that happened. It helps that I'm a Sabres fan... But still, it's hilarious to watch $100 million worth of fail.

It is not a stretch to say that even I could have done better than him.

I like the shootout in the regular season. It sucked 150 ties every year.

I don't like the point system, but the shootout itself is better than a tie.

Don't worry, Devils fans. You could be a Leafs fan, watching your team bleed out at 11 for the millionth time in a row.

Jesus... well, get ready for this for another 17 years... everytime he screws up the rest of his career (or until whenever this plays out) the media/fans are going to jump all over Kovi and make every misstep front page news. It's already bad enough Kovi knows that he'll be there longer than any coach and never be traded so he can act how he wants.

How did the Devils ever imagine this would be a win-win situation?

They signed him to a 17 year 100 million dollar contract. So as much as you were expecting it, the joke is actually on the devils this time and not you.

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Patrick Stefan, you should be embarrassed for what you just did. That does not belong in the National Hockey League...that's the most embarrassing thing I've seen on National Hockey League ice, and, I don't know, I've been around the game 25 years at the pro level. That is unbelievable."

What a great quote from the announcer.

It's like a snapshot of the Devil's whole season. They've pretty much already put themselves out of the playoffs.

Dubinsky has been known to drop them occasionally. I love how they got 2 from Boyle and 1 from Boogard the other night and still lost.

Rangers hockey, it...well it just farking sucks.

What really bugs me is that they put up 4 goals, which is quite a feat for the Devils this season, and they STILL lost!

Seriously, wasn't Hedburg good a couple of years ago?

/Come on Lou, we all love MacLean, but he's got to go.

The second goal that Hedberg let in was one of the softest goals I've seen from any goalie this season.

Simple, unscreened shot from the blue line. Any college goalie should be able to make that save.

Actually, the shootout was pretty bad but I liked Kovy's whiff on the partial break at the end of the third as well. Winds up, takes a slapshot from the top of the circles... and puts it in to the netting above the end boards glass. No deflections, no rolling puck, Kovalchuk just shot it directly out of the arena on a glorious chance to win the game.

Enroth trying to figure out how that happened afterwards was pretty good.

Hedburg is a decent goalie, but the Devil's defense farking SUCKS. Volchenkov is playing scared, Greene was never that great in his own end, Fraser is a depth D and is being played too much, and Tallinder, well, I don't know what Tallinder is doing. I could've sworn he was at least solid in Buffalo. White's still playing okay.

Also, with Parise out there's no forward on the top line for the Devils that has any clue about how to play in their own zone.

Hedburg faced 42 shots last night, and he's been averaging 32 shots against in the games he's played.

The bigger problem for the Devils is that Arnott, Langenbrunner and Elias are tied for the team lead in scoring, with 9 points apiece. This is a team with Ilya Kovalchuk and Travis Zajac on it.

Sorry to keep piling on here, robsul82. I'll make a big long post wondering why Chicago can't get their sh*t together next.

Way too early to count any teams out of the playoffs.

One good week can put any current last-place team right back into the thick of things.

Maybe if there were some sort of reason to hope, some glimmer of determination, something.

They're almost at 20% of their games done, they have more games played than most of the conference, they're missing their top line winger for many more months.

A bad start can and does sink a team for the season. Maybe if they do a major shakeup, but they have no room to trade and Lou says the coach is safe (yeah right).
