I thought "hilarity ensues" was only applicable to situations in which someone dies.

The blokes and blokesses seem to be the type that would do something like this. They just look like that have been on Cops, or maybe World's Dumbest Criminals (put the little sound effect as you read the World's... Criminals).

Baseball pitchers toss a ball at someone on average 95 miles an hour.

Batters hold a bat in their hands, which can easily cause major injuries if wielded like a weapon.

Why baseball should be expected to be a game of peace and love, I'll never understand. Want to play a game where the equipment isn't so threatening ? Try tiddlywinks.

I guess the times have changed. I'm 35. When I was a kid, if you did anything like this to an umpire in H.S., you may at most have been verbally chewed out by the school principal and suspended., but your parents would beat the shiat out of you. Kids have no respect nowadays. And they keep going onto my damn lawn.

Aggrivated assult and he didn't even hit anyoe with the bat? Had it been a gun and he didn't shoot anyone would they have charged him with murder?

I am coaching my son's instructional T-ball team in our local little league. We keep no score, all kids bat every inning, and we let every kid play every position they would like to play whenever possible.

Parents have sworn at me, told me I was denying their kid a chance to become a star and all other manner of bullshiat this season. My wife even heard one parent (a fat broad) tell another in the bleachers that she would like to punch me in the face for not letting her kid play shortstop every inning of every game since he was "clearly" the star of the team.

These kids are 5 and 6 years old. Most pick daisies and chase grasshoppers in the outfield. They could care less who wins or loses, they just want to play and have fun.

Parents suck. They have ruined most youth sports. It is a total joke.

I used to to go watch high school football on Friday nights about 3 or 4 years after I graduated. I used to play on the team and it brought back some good memories, plus my high school was doing good that year.

When I first starting going I would think, hope I don't' feel weird or look weird.. ya know 24 year old among high schoolers and immature teenagers. I thought I was going to feel uncomfortable, like some generation gap.

I had no problem with the students in the stands. In fact, talk to a few, had some laughs, shared some of my stories and memories, asked about teachers and cheered our school.

However. It was the parents in the stand that were the worst. They had no respect for where they were or who else was in the stands. All they cared about was their son, and they were completely fine with yelling and screaming obscenities in a crowd filled with high school students.

For the most part, from the stands I could see the parents kids looking at them, completely embarrassed, but they would go on...oblivious only to what they wanted to see. The sad things was they honestly thought they were "supporting" their son. One couple got in an argument because the mother told the father to lighten up. He got all puffy, 'At least I am supporting HIM!"

I hope to God I have enough brains to avoid becoming like that cause I love sports and I hope if I have a son he will love them like I do.

I think after seeing first hand some of the embarrassing things of it, I may be able to avoid it.

Anyway that's my rant.

Cobb County almost needs its own tag like Florida. Way too many stories from there and most of them involving violence and death.

Thank God for the Big Bossman!

If the principals can't behave like civilized human beings, there's no point in continuing until someone gets killed.

MikeWeath:

As I understand it, assault is something vague like threatening someone with a weapon, or trying to attack them. Had the bat connected with someone, that would have been battery.

Funny, most stories like this I hear involve hockey in the north.

On a side note the funniest things to watch at my sons soccer games are the other parents. Man do they get pissed when the ref misses a call. I just wish they would try ref'ing 10yr old soccer once, it's not easy.

If only every act of violence on the sporting field resulted in arrest. After a little while sport would be worth watching again. Of course, many clubs would run out of players...

Is that sarcasm, cos I can't tell anymore, what with "hilarity ensues" being so farking (unimaginatively) widely used...
