I think there should be a rule: if you make movies, you can't run for office. End of it - period. Your job is to make good movies - not lobby for tax reform, etc... He has T3 coming and I'll be waiting on line to see it; but in my opinion, he needs to make up for things like, "Twins" and "Kindergarten Cop" - we need another "Running Man" - or "Predator."

And isn't he married to Maria Schriver (sp?) - and isn't she a Kennedy cousin? Oh man, Arnold must be a REAL outcast in that family.

I guess we can all be thankful that Tom Cruise and his idiot scientologists haven't formed a political party to take California over. That would just be a popularity contest.

2003-06-29 12:17:06 PM
I'd vote for him. The guy preaches taking self-responsibility for your own condition (health, business or otherwise). We need more of that! I'm tired of these politicians promising that you can have your cake and eat it too, and it will be on somebody else's tab....

This is not new. Anyone who has been reading the papers in California knows that he has been planning this for nearly a year now. The weird thing would be who he would be running against for Republican nomination, Candoleesa Rice. I personally don't think she will run in the same year as Arnie, but there are many people here in California salivating of the rotting corpse of Gray Davis. Although with our luck the idiot Republicans will nominate Bill Simon again.

Whamdangler that pic is definitely not Ahnold, at least not right now. Just saw a Behind the Scenes look at T3 and he is farking ripped.

I read a while back that ROB REINER was considering running as well.

That should be an interesting race: Conan vs. Meathead

Whamdangler's picture is from one of those lame tabloids that takes pictures of people that kinda, maybe could look like a celebrity if they make it blurry enough.

I can believe that Whamdangler's photo is genuine. It's tough keeping yourself incredibly ripped all of the time, and Arnie is getting older.

Jessie Ventura, part two....

Wrong, Arnold is siding with the GOP. Jesse was a true INDEPENDENT. He spoke for himself and was not a mouthpiece to either the Dems or Repubs. He took the best of both sides and pushed both sides idelogical BS off to the side.

Sure, they hated him for it, but you knew when Jesse spoke it was him talking, not some campaign sponser behind the curtin pulling the strings.

Arnold will be nothing more than a puppet for Karl Rove to get his jollies with.

This whole recall effort is going to end up biting California Repubs in the ass. They're going to end up having to hold the election on the same day as the DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY, which means the liberal voter turnout is going to be massive.

Well when you guys see Terminator 3, you will know Arnold already hit the weights HARD.

I wish people would stop comparing Arnold with Jesse Ventura. Schwarzenegger is an actor. He never pretended any of his characters were 'real'.

Ventura's main claim to fame is being a professional wrestler, which he lied to everyone about being 'real'. Even after Vince McMahon admitted that the bouts were scripted physical dramas, a sort of 'ballet for the common man', Ventura refused to admit it. He basically flat out lied to everyone about his professional life.

Schwarzenegger is compleatly different. While an actor by profession, at worst he has been a bit too amerous with the ladies (and as yet have not seen him confirm or deny it), and at best has worked diligently to use his fame to help the physical fitness and wellbeing of school childern.

Of course, I would really like to see what he actually belived in before I'd be willing to vote for him.

Please don't let it happen. If he gets elected it will be one more piece of evidence pointing toward the overall stupidity of California.

The upshot, I suppose, is that he'd be almost impossible to asassinate.

If they manage to pull this off, then you can expect to see recall campaigns against every governor that appears to have a weakness.

This isn't just a tool for the GOP, Democrats will use the same tactics any time they think they have an advantage.

I hope he ready for the barrage of reports of his sexual indiscretions that will come out once he enters the race. Ahnold's reported touchy-feeliness around pretty females makes Bill Clinton look like Antonin Scalia.

that shouldn't even be an issue after the way the democrats whined on about how private issues should remain private during the clinton years.

and democrats would never be hypocrites. yah, right.

Does anyone else find it funny that we are constantly being told it's the Hollywood liberals who are trying to push their values on us and yet it's the Hollywood conservatives who ever run for office?"

Ok, lets get this out of the way. The Hollywood Left. Behotches about the government, the Hollywood Right Does something about it.

Its a lot easier to cry, than stand up to do the job.

In order to be elected president, one must be at least 35 years old. Also, each candidate must be a natural-born U.S. citizen and have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years.

The requirements to run for governor differ state to state.

ToStupidTooCare And certainly, the Republicans would never have a double standard, would they? So they should call Arnold out?

Or perhaps everyone needs to get a f*ing clue and realize that most parties subscribe to double standards?

I just find it really funny that actors, musicians - entertainers in general - feel that they know more about politics than the average person. Their lives are spent staring into a camera lens creating fantasy. Doesn't it seem like such an oxymoron?

Felgraf--

While not perfect, the Republicans did call Trent Lott and Newt Gingrich out. They have a lot more to go but I still see the Republicans up 2 and the Dems 0 in that category.

Great, as if the mud is not think enough already. Now, after elections you will have a nonstop attempt by the other party to remove him/her because they LOST.

I don't want winey partisians 24/7/365 over crap like this. You win or loose the election, SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, and PLAN FOR NEXT ELECTION. Attack the elected officer's issues, but unless they truly blatenly lie to the people, keep them in.

good. maybe then the politicians will take notice that ever the ever increasing taxing/spending won't work forever.

if you thought the florida recount was a debacle, just look at what davis is doing... falsified petitions, illegally delaying recall tallies, etc.

davis is going to provide us with some real entertainment in the next few months as he pulls out all of the stops. at least he is a goner and california will be the better for it.

The chick from T3 was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night and was asked "What's it like to know you may have just starred in a movie with the future President of the United States?"

Too bad she wasn't any smarter than Jimmy; a response filling him in on the requirements of presidency would really have made him look dumb.

This wouldn't stop him if he was a democrat. After all, democrats never follow the Constitution anyhow.

The point is that Gray Davis did run a blatantly unethical campaign. He lied about the budget deficit, saying it was only 12billion dollars and then raising that to 35billion a week after getting re-elected. He also recently illegaly tripled the vehicle registration fee (the "car tax"), he did it without having a vote on it because he knows it will take about ten years for the courts to overturn the tax. He has been one of the most corupt and unpopular governors in California's history, with approval rating in the low 20's. Its really difficult to get a recall, a lot of people need to be pissed off and the fact that so many people have signed this petition so fast points to the fact that indeed a lot of Californians feel betrayed by him. It doesn't really matter who wins the recal, as long as hes out we are already better off.

Chelsea Clinton Is Carrot Top's Lost Twin I mean, that's like saying "Republicans are trying to destroy all civil rights!" Which isn't really true. Certainly, Ashcroft appears to be chiping away at civil libertiers, but that doesn't mean all Republicans think this is good. Broad blanket statements tend to make you look foolish, just so you know.

I would vote for Arnold - for reasons that have nothing to do with politics :). All he would have to do is get nekked at a political rally, and it's over. This has nothing to do with whether he is a good politician or not. IMO it's all that wonderful DNA pumping through his bod that makes chics just fall over. He is the uber statesman :)

I don't live in California - so I don't know what's up with you all wanting to recall your governor. Dunno. However, you guys elected him, and for better or worse, I think you guys should have to stick with him, unless he is charged with illegal activity of some sort and prosecuted.

Davis flat out lied about the economic status of CA prior to the election. Since annoucing the the debt he's tripled the car registration fees (lets call this what it is it's tax on cars), gave statewide officals with supervisory and higher jobs a 150% raise (the SF Chronicle ran an article on this a couple of months ago), and is forcing a bill through to raise the sales tax. Last time I checked, when a company has this kind of debt they inact cutbacks. They reduce the amount of employees and some companies (i.e.: Applied Materials and Intel) have been known to DECREASE the pay of their management teams. So far Gov. Davis is doing the exact opposite.

Do I think the recall is a good idea? I'd say no but then again keeping him in office isn't exactly a stroke of brillance either.

"Observe as I flex my large pectoral muscles and make all of California's problems go away."

anyway... as people have been saying NOBODY likes davis. not even hardcore democrats. I had a poli sci teacher who explained it would take a lot to get him to vote for a non-democrat... and davis pulled it off.
