Just to clarify, in went from ZDTV to TechTv to G4Techtv to G4 on the same channel and G4 never appeared elsewhere in the lineup while it was still TechTv. So a Directv customer could argue that it was the same network that kept changing their name.

This pisses me off. I want to be able to watch Makoto Nagano and friends on Ninja Warrior. It's a great show--so great that Wipeout ripped it off.

Shortly after G4 absorbed TechTV and removed everything tech (Screensavers had just barely become Attack of the Show), my cable provider dropped it. Cut to, what, 5, 6 years later? I've moved to an area that has G4 on its lineup. After watching it a few times, I've been reminded why I didn't miss it. It's basically Spike 2.

I wished they import more Japanese Gameshow like TV Champion, Challenge of Fire, and DON'T screw them up with their stupid unnecessary localization effort, just sub. I'll event take straight dub, no bullshiat.

And more game-centric and tech show in the vein of C|Net Central or UK's Cybernet and GamesMaster.

Instead of Cops... and Rerun... rerun... and rerun.

He may be exaggerating and referring that all the league-sponsored channels are in the basic package (nfl, mlb, nbatv, etc)

But yeah, I have the middle-tier package and I'm not annoyed by the sports so much as other things.

I think I actually watched Attack of the Show for 5 minutes one day, but that's about it. I probably won't notice it's gone. They'll probably replace it with something that shows more House reruns and since I'm a sucker for House reruns, that'll be ok with me.

I agree. TechTV got gobbled up then instead of making some sort of cool computer game/tech merge of a channel, they dropped nearly every aspect of TechTV.

I'm not sure who is running G4, but at the risk of sounding ITG, I could have come up with a better lineup.

This makes sense as well - the whole G4 debacle does remind me of syfy, take a unique brand and niche, then mainstream it and work on alienating most of your small but loyal viewer base - instead of working on building your niche/viewer base with some creativity and decent shows. Even showing movies or syndicated TV programs that relate to the channel's presumed focus would be ok in moderation.

The only logical answer is that the upper management or owners are making big money while running things into the ground, after which they'll walk away.

Knowing DirecTV, they'll probably replace G4 with an inferior copy of the same format and call it "Sonic Tap."

Thanks a lot DTV. Drop G4 but bring on more "best bra ever" channels. FARK YOU.

I think the last two programs I liked on G4 were Eyedrops and Anime Unleashed. Oh, wait that was before they changedto G4 and made everything about that channel horrible.

If this was the case, then why don't they drop Current TV, Planet Green, Reelz Channel, a couple religious channels, and so on? They could probably weed out 50 or so channels that are "low rated" and still raise their prices.

I always thought both TechTV and G4 were doomed. Computer nerds would rather use a computer to learn about computers and video game nerds would rather play video games than watch TV.

Doesn't help that they dropped Codemonkeys after 2 seasons either.

Over here in Dish Network land, we no longer get the ABC suite (except the ESPN's) in HD because Dish Network has the butthurt about paying for them.

They, of course, make that call about 2 weeks after I renew my contract.
