According to Mount Airy police, Wolfe was pulled over just before 10 p.m. Saturday after an officer observed him going 10 miles under the speed limit on U.S. 52 and crossing the center line. Wolfe failed a field sobriety test and later tested for a blood-alcohol level of 0.14, almost twice the legal limit for driving in North Carolina.

Then on Saturday, Wolfe was pulled over again about 8 p.m. after an officer observed him blowing his horn excessively while stuck in traffic on North Main Street, police said. He again failed a field sobriety test, and was determined to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.20.

Wolfe was charged with DWI after the Saturday night incident and DWI, two counts of driving while license revoked, and resisting a public officer after the Saturday night incident.

That's some fine editing there.

Damn. I always thought "cop-punching drunk" was just a figure of speech.

If you're trying to achieve fail it's best to commit to said fail with full failocity. Mr. Wolfe obviously has the skills necessary.

I thought being drunk was a job requirement for being in politics - or was it cheating on one's wife? Or maybe it was having more than $10,000 in unpaid traffic tickets, or unpaid property taxes....or being caught in a mens room trying to get and/or give a wet willy, or hiring illegals to work in/around your home....

Bet those cops were just Oath Keepers acting on behalf of the Tea Party to take down Democratic candidates. I don't believe this article for a second as the owner of the newspaper sometimes watches Fox News.

Try him, convict him, and put him in jail.

I don't care which 'team' a drunk driver is on.

So driving 10 miles under the speed limit and blowing your horn excessively in traffic are probable cause to get pulled over?

I will have to alter my evening driving tactics

I'd say if you can blow a 0.20 less then 24 hours after blowing a 0.14 you just might be an alcoholic

"I made a mistake over the weekend," Wolfe, 58, said this morning. "I apologize to my supporters. The mistake was mine."

"A" mistake?

Two DWIs indicates at least two mistakes.

When I was a kid I'll admit being twice the legal limit on a Friday and three times the limit on Saturday on a few occasions.

If you are 58 and still doing it then you're a drunk.

Not only are you a drunk, you're a piece of shiat for driving around like that. When you're a kid you think you are the shiat and invincible so you get a pass for driving drunk IMO but once you're older you should freakin know better.
