I get migraines, I swear it...

Meh, I work in the nuclear power field, so it's not like I really want to light one up... That "Fitness for duty" thing and all, but I'm really interested how the industry will look at this if it becomes legal.

My opinion, pot has fewer issues compared to liquor for the time being, and I still think the Govt got too hung up on that "gateway" study years ago... Legalize it and figure out a batter way to tax it...

Right now, the dealers don't want it legal since they can still charge top dollar for the weak crap and still ake maximum profit. Legal pot means supply and demand make prices go down.

I am a nicotine addict in recovery and I can testify firsthand: the only medication I have ever found which takes the edge off the cravings so the average person can almost tolerate them is hemp, at 250-500 mg. doses every 2-4 hours.

It is also useful in alcohol therapy.

That is probably why the stuff is illegal.

Who cares? I don't even smoke weed, and I'd advocate over alcohol any day.

I could get a medical card, but my issues are psychological, and I don't feel like explaining it all to some doc who already thinks I"m lying so I can smoke weed. If I were in pain, crazy physical pain, it wouldn't be a problem. And now, there's 20 or 30 new pot dispensaries in town. But I guess I'll continue to get my fix the old-fashioned way.

It's only the basis for the entire idea of drug prohibition. You are not allowed to alter your mind, and you are not allowed pleasure unless it comes with suffering. Drug laws are deeply rooted in religious fervour.

as someone who used to be a teenager, it seems to me that caffiene is THE gateway drug. Its the first "high" that most kids can correlate to consuming something.

If I drink this coffee I get lots of energy.

Seems to me this association is what starts the chain reaction of wanting more complex and stronger effects.

Caffiene leads to smoking, then drinking, then weeding, and finally licking meth off a dead horse's ass.

but I dunno, I need a drink...

On a serious note, I'm not a smoker, and never touched it. But allot of the evidence is overwhelming in it's favor as a legitimate drug. It will be legalized one day eventually. But that won't be until the day when the last of the "Moral Majority" have finally died off and have no further control over politics, or especially rational decision making.

If nothing else, please legalize Marijuana so that enough violent people chill out, and we can actively decrease crime without increasing our prison population. I'd rather live next to Potheads and run my lawn mover over their yard to keep it looking nice, than have Section 8 gangbangers living next door breaking into my house and cars and stealing my shiat.

2010-11-01 01:01:56 PM
Maybe in the Northern part, but for the most part in SoCal, you have to have proof that a real doctor diagnosed you with something. So you would have to talk to a real doctor who would say "yes, you have [ailment x]," then have your medical records released to yourself, then go to like Medicann or something with proof that you are actually sick and then they will give it to you. In Oakland you can just go in without an appointment and don't even have to really go into detail. I don't doubt that there are places in SoCal that give them out easier, but you have to know someone.

Also, the law says that it can be prescribed for any ailment that would be aided by marijuana. So even if you are giving it out for insomnia, it is in the spirit of the law that voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of.

I'd like to see it legal so we can tax it and help keep the cartels out of the game. On the other hand, for the users, isn't medicinal use only a better way to go? Fully legalized and we'll all probably be subject to THC cotton swab / DUI tests everytime you get pulled over. Those that smoke every day are going to be paying more fines than ever I'd wager.

2010-11-01 01:08:24 PM
Marijuana should be legal and cheap. It could also be used as a food/beverage ingredient, rather than smoked. Use it along with hops in the homebrew, etc.

Don't listen to your doctor! Listen to police officers and your government, they know what is healthy for you and what isn't!

AND DOWN WITH SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF HEALTH CARE!

Also MAKE ABORTION ILLEGAL IN ALL CASES, WHO CARES IF A DOCTOR SAYS THE MOTHER'S LIFE IS AT RISK THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS BETTER!

BigTuna: STOP COMPARING POT TO ALCOHOL. All you're doing is making the case for MADD and other modern day prohibitionists to ban alcohol again.

I don't believe alcohol will ever be banned again. I think 99.99% of politicians realize that trying to ban alcohol would be a non-starter. Most people drink every week, at least a little, and those same people wouldn't stand for any kind of ban.

I noticed I don't get headaches or migraines anymore since I got my license. How often do you hear about a drug carrying a POSITIVE side effect? I have, currently, and for the past 6 months, 1 unopened bottle of excedrin migraine, 1 open bottle of since untouched excedrin tension headache pills, and 1 UNOPENED bottle of vicodin from a recent surgery.

The pot has adequately eased the pain from headaches and my surgery. If I HAD taken the vicodin for my surgery recovery, I'd still be trying to poop, and I'd likely have developed an addiction.

Clearly, pot has zero medicinal value, is horribly addictive and obviously a gateway drug and therefore, must be kept illegal at all costs because it's so dangerous. So, move along citizen.

Corporations absolutely cannot stand you consuming something for free when you clearly should be paying for it.

/aww, poor pooh-bear corporations and their bottoms lines!
//how DARE we not buy their shiat! Who do we think we are?
///couldn't get any more misanthropic if I tried
////pot easing headache pain is quite real, and was a side-effect in my case

Arcturus72: I get migraines, I swear it...

Same here. Really bad ones called Occular Migraines. I lose vision and the I'll have a bad headache for hours, which gets worse if I move too much. I used to have some smoke around back in the day and that really relieved the pain like nothing else does. Booze makes it worse and pain killers never really have had an affect on me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Can't wait until its legal here, althought it might be a long time coming in Nebraska.

Used to live in So. California. It is very easy to secure a doctor recommend. I have seen the price for this "visit" drop to around 45-50 dollars.

You don't even need supporting medical records from a "real" doctor. Just state what your ailment is, and that is that. Out the door in less than 30 minutes with your pot smoking permission slip.

California doesn't need prop 19 to pass. It is already easy enough to smoke legally. California does need the tax money, but the legit dispensaries are already paying sales tax.

/successfully defended my right to do so in court.
/The more you know.

1. This is no different than getting your doctor to prescribe alcohol for you during Prohibition. Yes,it happened quite a bit.

2. Legalized it, and put all those shady doctors out of business.

DreamWeaver: pot is expensive. whats the most efficient form of taking it? bong? pipe? baking?

Vaporizer. Studies have shown that combustion destroys about 50% of the THC in pot.
