Someone tell Tavis Smiley so he'll lay off Obama, for chrissakes.

Juan Williams sure got a cushy gig out of the deal.

Damn, those minorities get everything.

If by minorities you mean the 98% who are not millionaires, then yes.

Minorities in this country have had it easy for over 200 years!

Historically, they've gotten all the perks, all the trappings of power.

From 1776-1964, white men couldn't even vote!

Before I read, I'm going with housing crisis was the selling of houses to many people without downpayments, and a large number of them weren't white, and so helping the housing crisis is helping minorities over whites.

Blast.

While I don't disagree that those help minorities, I don't think there was credit card reform pushed simply to help poor blacks. Tiny pieces of a big piece of legislation don't make it minority oriented, and while it helps minorities overall, that doesn't mean it was written for minorities.

Well, they favor poor people by a slight margin more than his predecessor's policies. So now they're only getting mostly screwed instead of completely. Yet unemployment still hovers in double digits and real wages continue to slide for all but the top 10%. And since minorities are disproportionately represented in the lower classes, one could argue that they disproportionately aid minorities.

Or you could post race-baiting shiat like the headline.

first they came to give to stuff the minorities, and i wasn't a minority so i didn't get any stuff.

This is an outrage.

Economic policies should favor the hereditary wealthy elite.

After all, they've proven their value by being wealthy.

I'll tell you what is terribly disturbing and telling: The Republicans/Subby probably think this is a bad thing.

Good thing white people are pretty much a minority.

Well... that's pretty much the most racist thing I'm read here in a while.

The only minorities the Republicans care about is the richest 2%.

Yeah, 75% is such a minority.

Someone needs to create a race version of that "Help! We're being oppressed!" pie chart of religious groups.

Exactly.

Just a few hours ago I was discussing zero-sum games with someone here, so I'm going to pretend to read subby's mind for a minute, and what I see is ...

...he doesn't see any difference in the word choice. If minorities are benefiting, then white people *must* be suffering, as he sees it. The pie's only so big. You can't grow the pie higher.

Me, I'm thinking that if minorities and the poor are benefiting from some economic policies, my pasty white suburban ass is going to do very well, too... but what do I know?

Or, yeah, I know, subby could be trolling again.

FTFA: The president has also enacted the Stakeholder Outreach Initiative, which consists of teams established to assist small businesses with obtaining federal grants. According to a policy explanation sent from the White House, the teams "will focus on women, minorities, veterans and businesses based in underserved communities."

I hope one day we create policy that will be aimed at economic status and not skin color or gender. I don't know if that day will ever arrive but one can dream.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

It's funny how so many people who think they stand up for his ideals are working for the exact opposite of his famous dream. And by funny I mean sad.

Silly farkers. Everyone knows that if it benefits minorities, it is inherently unfair, and, therefore, is favoritism.

Obamas policies favor the poor. It just so happens that alot of minorities are poor. And by poor I mean people who make less than 250k a year.

/250k is still kinda poor in CT.

How about things just being fair?

My brother couldn't get an interview with any state job here for over 3 months. He was a successful appraiser with years of experience (housing market folded up in Florida) and couldn't even get an interview for entry level positions. That is until he started checking that he was "black" on the application. Technically they can't ask your race but here in Ohio, when applying online, you can submit a resume without checking a race box. They say it's just for census data...

He immediately had three interviews the next week. He said he wished he had a camera for the looks he received when he showed up for the interviews downtown.

He interviewed with 4 minority managers and ultimately he was rejected because he was "over qualified" even though he was willing to work any job to pay his bills.

/cool story brah
//tired of certain classes getting handouts while everyone else has pay for it.
