This is somewhere between cute and sad. I'm conflicted.

OK I'm sorry, but that was hilarious.

Poor little guys :(

OMG trumps WTF - wonder if they'll outgrow it?

What a conundrum, a kitten who can't play without "fainting".

I feel the same way. Poor things.

Oh hell I want one.
Do you think we could find a way to induce this condition?
I think I could make a mint.

I'm pretty sure it's genetic, so you can probably breed them for it.

The would never be able to do the act.
Ever hear cats mating? They would both just freeze up and fall over, try again, fall over again and never finish.

I would be laughing so farking hard watching that.
Thanks for putting that thought in my head.

Judging from the video's description, I really doubt the orange and white one will outgrow it.

They dont outgrow this to the best of my knowledge and one of the kittens is already dead of respiratory failure. Unsure if that was related to this illness.

I am not a doctor, but wikiwikiwikipedia says that in people it can cause respiratory problems. Sounds rough.

I can't imagine it'd be easy to breed an animal that faints whenever it gets remotely excited.

Those fainting goats have failed to go extinct so far. I wonder if it is kind of like stutters that don't stutter during sex but they do the rest of the time. The sex drive is hardwired enough it overcomes the stuttering (although that's more mental than genetic).

I guess what you do is hope the trait is recessive and breed two carriers of the trait that don't express it. A certain percentage of the offspring will have the desired trait. Others will be carriers for it, keep breeding the carriers.

/dated a stutterer once
//women tend to repeat themselves no matter what, so it really wasn't something I noticed as being out of the ordinary

I was going to post this, the good home grown

but I'll post this instead.

no wait, not that one, this one

Sadly most kittens don't make it to their first birthday. That's why cats breed the way they do.

"sad to report that the black and white kitten (spike) died on 27th october from respiratory failure."

Respiratory failure or repeatedly feinting and bashing its face on the ground for the owner's amusement?

lysdexic: Man, I wouldn't want to. Poor things. They looked so spazzed.

They somewhat remind me of a Robot Chicken sketch where a young kid is standing around shaking with nervousness in a gym, not really sure what to do, only to get hit in the face by a dodge ball he didn't see coming.

Replace the quivering kid with a kitten, and "hit in the face with a ball" with "any sound at all, such as the click of their claws on hardwood floors."

2010-10-27 04:00:22 PM
Aww! I want to give them very quiet and delicate hugs, poor critters.

I am reminded of these two kittens I saw at an adoption fair. The cage even said, "We would be best for older owners with the time to care for us!" They were littermates with the same neurological problem - perfectly formed, happy cats ... with the shakes.

Their names were Weeble and Wobble.

Sounds like cerebellar hypoplasia. One of my cats has that. She's fine otherwise, although her temperament is also skittish, which is a bad combination. She falls over and stumbles a lot, she won't willingly use stairs (although she can), and has an "intention tremor"- the shakes, basically, but only when she's actually trying to concentrate on something.

Thanks for the link. I had seen the goats before but not the kittens (until now) and did not know if affected people as well. It's always good to learn something new.

Well that was farking sad to watch.

Get them some kitty earmuffs dick head humans!

I read that as farting kittens. I suppose with some soundtrack dubbing that video would work.

I know, crass and insensitive. Poor kitties, they seem well loved.

Sometimes, it's not okay to be an asshole.

That said, they were adorable, I couldn't help chuckling a bit, and my friend went "Oooohhh!". (She loves cats, and I would get her one (or two) if I wasn't so allergic.)
