As a soccer referee myself, I could definitely imagine this happening.

I would like to see video of this incident please. Yakety Sax background music is optional but preferred.

I thought that in Soccer questions the answer was always 'roll around on the ground like you are injured'.

There's a number of Merseyside amateur teams linked to prominent local criminals. For the most part it's like the Eastside vs. Westside basketball game in The Wire - hostilities are kept away from the game - but there have been "incidents".

Wouldn't want to overstate it, because there's literally hundreds of amateur games every weekend across Merseyside, but there's definitely a tendency amongst the Liverpool criminal fraternity for involving themselves in the sport. Probably happens elsewhere in the UK too.

If there were cars available in South Africa for this, I can imagine this happening to a certain ref.

Amateur football is so violent I reckon this is true. I was in a friendly league of 5 a side, would play after work, gave it up when it turned out the opposition were usually psychopaths would would try and break a leg and start a fight.
