I love "The Librarian" movies. They're very clever.

You can't kill me, if you do you won't be able to translate the (medalion I think.
Bad guys bring in old scholar.
Oh, yeah. Killing me is totally back on the table.

See if your books help you now Mr. Smart Guy.
Librarian clubs villain from behind after escaping being tied to a chair.
You know, Houdini wrote books too.

rikdanger: No Croaker?

I second that. Allthough he is more of an author then a librarian. I guess holding all the previous centuries books written by people in the same position as him qualifies.

However Now i'm gonna have to go and watch those doctor who episodes with Zoe. even if it rapes my childhood memories. I dont know if finding a site with every episode ever is a blessing or a curse

If I got into a bar fight, I'd want two people on my side: Warf and a Librarian from any public library in any big city.

Of course it would be Libertarians. The Democrats and Republicans are too busy wrecking everything.

the only things more poorly written than the "the librarian" tv movies are the mummy movies, and this list hit them both.

came for 40k pics of Librarians laying down the smack.

Leaving disappointed.

I don't know about books, but "Under the Pyramids" was ghost written by H.P. Lovecraft.

OK, the inclusion of the chapter librarians from 40k made me laugh.

So I give this list a thumbs-up, for what it's worth.

The Cheshire Cat in Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series... this cat is the overseer in the Great Library, a library within the book world, which contains every book ever written.

Didn't it also have every book never written? I gave up on the series after a few books. The first one was original and fun and I often recommend it. The second drew out the gag a little too long. The next was desperate digging in a mined-out vein. If he comes up with a new concept I'll give him another try.

Read Or Die was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. Glad to see you Farkers are aware of it, even if the dips over at io9 aren't.

Another favorite: the Librarian class from Deadlands: Hell on Earth. Post-Apocolyptic warrior who work to preserve knowledge in a central location after the 4 Horsemen (not the Flair ones either) show up.

I could never quite get into the series, but I appreciated the love of books that went into it.

Happy to see the "The Librarian" movies and the Discworld Librarian as the first entries, surprised at lack of Yomiko Readman even though they had an entry from Library Wars. Glad to see other Farkers have already noticed that absence.

Someone else who was in Elementary School in the 80's should have seen that.

List fails without... okay, she's on the list... but it also fails without... wait, she's on the list too.. well, if she's not... oh, she's there too... but is it me, or she's not.. oh, you all mentioned her already. Okay, no complaints.

And now, some love for my favorite fictional librarian:

They couldn't have found a better picture of Warhammer 40k Librarians than an unpainted figure? Lazy article writer is lazy as hell.
