Good News!

So far, nobody's stolen the statue of Colorado Congressman Jack Swigert from the Capitol:

2003-06-25 10:03:30 AM
Well, we don't really want it to happen AGAIN, do we? We should probably do something about last minute pardons for contributors too. Yes. I'm talking about clinton, you pinkos.

yea, maybe if clinton didn't rob the white house blind then we wouldn't need these kinds of laws... oh wait what's that?

you want him for a third term?

yea, maybe if clinton didn't rob the white house blind then we wouldn't need these kinds of laws... oh wait what's that?

Oh yeah, that story turned out to be a big lie perpetrated by Karl Rove. Among the millions of lies perpetrated by the Bush White House.

you want him for a second term?

Bill Clinton stole everything in site.

But, thankfully he stole the White House towels.

He used them all as CUM RAGS!

Don't these people get enough kickba... er, donations from Haliburton and Hollywood to buy their own damn furniture?

No they prefer to spend tax money redecorating. And then buying the old furniture they just replaced at a heavily discounted cost.

Politicians should have to pledge their first borns as collateral when they take up office. If they get caught stealing, taking bribes or knowingly telling lies then Junior gets a Secret Service bullet in the base of his skull.

what happens if they have no children?

It's ok for them to steal for two reasons:

1. There is (or at least there was) no controlling legal authority to prevent them from doing it - so it must be ok.

2. They are more equal than the rest of us.

2003-06-25 10:55:11 AM
There was no "fabrication". Things were STOLEN, they just didn't get up and leave the white house by themselves, they were STOLEN by Clinton and his cronies.

And yes, I would like Bush for a second term and will be voting thusly

2003-06-25 10:57:57 AM
Nothing stops the politicians from breaking any other current laws, oaths, promises, etc... What makes anyone believe that this will make any difference in the future. Track record = "Lips move"------>Lie like a rug.

Farkin'A, that was hilarious, and sadly, probably dead-on. I'm sure a chunk of the $30B appropriated for the Office of Homeland Security will be spent on people to guard and count the chairs in Barney Frank's office.

One of the best explanations of "Bureaucracy" I have ever heard is:

A municipality has a navigable river running through it (no mention of Redford), and must build a drawbridge.

They hire an operator to run the drawbridge. Because it is a new "department," they hire an accountant to do the payroll. The accountant demands a secretary. An office manager is hired to deal with the details. Eventually, a supervisor is hired to manage everyone involved.

A year later, budget cuts hit the municipality. To save money, they fire one person: the drawbridge operator.

I guess the analogy applies for corporations, but, as a shameless sucker of the public teat, I see it happen in this context far too often.

2003-06-25 11:11:47 AM
Children will be provided.

but then why would they care? Although why would they really care about the real kids either? I guess only becuase it would be political suicide to let your child, or a child under your care, to be killed because you lied.

2003-06-25 11:17:38 AM
oh by the way, in an attempt to throw some wood and a possible fire....

There was no "fabrication". Things were STOLEN, they just didn't get up and leave the white house by themselves, they were STOLEN by Clinton and his cronies.

"The Republicans also charged President Clinton and newly-elected Sen. Hillary Clinton with stealing about $190,000 in furniture from the White House to put into their newly-purchased residence in Chappaqua, New York. The Clintons responded the furniture had been personal gifts to them, not to the United States, but they would return whatever the Bush administration determined was official furniture, as opposed to gifts. Among the items they voluntarily returned was about $7,000 worth of furniture donated by Denise Rich."

2003-06-25 11:22:21 AM
Who gives a fark about the furniture and ashtrays? They've been stealing a lot more than that on the hill for a long time...

2003-06-25 11:29:20 AM
Does anyone know if the Clintons paid back the $24,000 in damage done to the White House?

Do you have a link for that? Because I think you just pulled it out of your ass. Admittedly, I can't speak for what happened when he left the white house, but a guy I went to high school with was stationed aboard the Roosevelt in '93 when Clinton visited. He confirmed the stories that Clinton and his entourage stole everything aboard that carrier they could get their hands on. Everything with the ship's name stenciled or embroidered on it was turned into cheap souvenirs by these people. Everything that wasn't tied down. Based on that first-hand account, I'm inclined to believe that they stole stuff from the white house and AF-1 too.

Sorry to burst your bubble and ruin the pristine christ-like image you have of the guy - but the truth is he was a thief.

Oh yeah, that Bush photo op makes you mad too. Doesn't it. Ha ha ha.

2003-06-25 11:48:00 AM
I remember that check-cashing scandal back in the early 90s. Didn't it turn out that that was all legal - i.e. that it was perfectly OK for them to write checks without having the money in their accounts?

2003-06-25 11:53:10 AM
Why don't you f.ucking morons shut the f.uck up about Clinton already, and take a good hard look at what your Monkey Boy is doing right now?

/not even a liberal, just sick of it

2003-06-25 11:57:47 AM
I would just like to point out, every farking scandal was created by the right-wing spin machine, the only thing that turned out to be true was Clinton lying about Lewenski. That is it.

Troopergate, Whitewater, Paula Jones, etc.

2003-06-25 12:03:13 PM
Well a guy I went to high school with is stationed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. When Bush visited, he said Bush and his entourage stole everything aboard the carrier they could get their hands on. Everything with the ship's name stenciled or embroidered on it was turned into cheap souvenirs by these people. Everything that wasn't tied down. Based on hearsay, I'm inclined to believe that they steal stuff from the White House and AF-1 too.

Why is it that every thread that's even vaguely political turns into a Clinton-bashing festival? Are you guys really that tied up in knots about a guy who isn't even in politics anymore?

Look, I'm sorry you couldn't come up with a candidate that people liked more than Clinton, and I'm sorry that despite all your best efforts, you weren't able to prevent him from serving out his two terms in office. But really, get over it. The guy isn't in office, an ultra-conservative republican IS, so I guess you've won. Now shut up about it.

I guess the idea is to shout so loudly about Clinton that you drown out all the mutterings about Bush's presidency. Ya know, things would be so much better if we could turn politics into intelligent discourse instead of a bunch of people shouting 3rd grade insults back and forth.

I can't wait until one of them attaches a rider that says something like to the effect of "legalize teenage prostitution."

Come on, you know something like that is going to happen.

Ever see a youngster angry? Many of them will try to shift the blame to somebody else thinking that somehow removes them from guilt. The same applies to the Clinton bashers.

The funniest part about the bashing Clinton for lying, is that I'm sure a vast majority of them love Reagan, even though he lied under oath AND basically threw out the Constitution and used it as toilet paper along with Bush Sr. and Ollie North. Hypocrisy at its finest!

Tamooch: That's like asking a Detroit or DC mayor if either really needs coke. Of course they do.

Link to trashing of White House story about Clinton stealing furniture and trashing the White House.
The very well written Washington Post story to which he links and which helps show just how sleazy the Bush team was in smearing Clinton is not on the web anymore.

Before you accuse someone of pulling a story out of their ass, perhaps you shoudl do a little Googling? And perhaps you'd like to document the accusations you just made? Hmmm?

As for the photo op, I'm wondering if the Navy guys were worried Bush would go AWOL on them like he did in the Texas National Vietnam Avoidance Air Guard?

It's a reference to Ed Rooney stating how many times Ferris Bueller has missed school when talking to Ferris' mom on the phone.

Stupid? Yes. But dammit if couldn't get that out of my head the entire summer after I saw that movie in the theater.

Does anyone know if the Clintons paid back the $24,000 in damage done to the White House?

Why do we keep hearing these kind of slander over and over again?
When Bush Jr. took over the White House he made a big deal about the amount of stuff that was broken, implying that it was the result of vandalism. Then it was discovered that the amount reported was almost identical to the amount reported to fix stuff when Bush Sr. left.

It is standard procedure to do an inventory of office equipment and replace or fix non-functional items. It is not standard procedure to accuse the last occupant of breaking stuff deliberately.

Bush was pissed because of a few practical jokes left behind. Practical jokes are also common practice. The biggest one was that a lot of the computer keyboards were missing the W key. Rather then just get a bunch of W keys and pop them on, Bush reported the cost of replacing all of the keyboards as Clinton damage. The cost for each keyboard was reported as $80. $80$!?! WTF? Do they actually make keyboards that expensive?

But never mind that the true facts have come out. Just keep accusing the Clintons of theft and vandalism.
Then when people go after Bush as payback you can express moral outrage.

2003-06-25 12:23:48 PM
Can you blame these mindless sheep Burn98? I mean, people still go around talking about how Clinton had Foster and others "killed", plus all those illegal activites he did (all were proven to have no evidence)

"We are not supposed to steal from the Capitol," Sen. Don Nickles, an Oklahoma Republican, said wryly after the panel sent the proposed rule to the full Senate for consideration.

He added, "We just steal from the people we represent. I mean, that's how it was set in the...uh...what's that document? Help me out here. The famous one. You know, Jefferson and Franklin and Lincon wrote it like 500 years ago? I never read it, but Trent says it's pretty dry reading anyway. God, it's on the tip of my tongue. Don't you hate that?"

I suggest that we equip their offices appropriate to their activities in Washington.

Each office should be approx 8X10 with all furniture built in and bolted in place. Sounds like a cell, eh?

Well, that's where the majority of these thieving bastards belong.

2003-06-25 12:45:38 PM
They don't steal from the Capitol, they just steal from the American people. Big difference! Nobody gets hurt in the 2nd example!

If Ronald Reagan was the Teflon president, than Bill Clinton was the flypaper president. If you look at the number of convictions of president appointed administration staff, Clinton can not even come close to the corruption of the Reagan years. Of course Reagan was not followed around by a full time prosecutor for most of his term. The special prosecutor for the Iran-Contra scandal closed up shop after that investigation was finished. Who knows what he would have found if he hung on looking into anything and everything?

Ken Star was supposed to investigate Whitewater. He found nothing. His office leaked a lot of suspicions which were reported in the press but never proved. When Whitewater was finished Star decided to just keep right on investigating anything and everything. Travel gate, File Gate, Foreign campaign contributions etc. etc. All leaked to and reported by the press in spite of the fact that no actual wrong-doing was found. $70 Million spent investigating nothing of consequence.

Then Linda Tripp told them Bill was having an affair. So they set a trap for him. The Star special prosecutors office let the Paula Jones defense team know that they should talk to Linda. If a man cheats on his wife he is going to lie about it. You dont decide to accept a BJ from a co-worker and then go home and tell all. They figured Bill would deny the affair. So instead of leaking the news right away as they always had done. Star waited until the Jones crew had Clinton under oath and sprung the trap. Clinton tried to be evasive. Then he tried to take the position that a BJ is not sex. Then he tried to answer no to questions about the affair on the pretext that the questions used the word "is" instead of the past tense "was". He should have followed Ronald Reagan's example and just repeated over and over. I do not recall.

Now we have people who continue to repeat all of these tired old accustations. Pardons? How about Richard Nixon? Casper Wienburger? (sp?)

"Capitol", dang it! Congress meets in the Capitol building in the United States capital city, Washington, DC.

This is actually a change of pace from people who refer to the cities housing the legislative bodies of other countries as capitols. Drives me nuts to see Ottawa referred to as Canada's capitol, when everyone knows (well, everying in Canada, at least) that we have a Parliament.

I saw clinton on the campaign trail in the fall of 96, just before the election. I was about 2 deep in the crowd of ~15,000. My girlfriend at the time (unbeknownst to me or anyone else)looked amazingly like Monica Lewinski. The funny thing about that day, he kept looking RIGHT AT HERE. Like, so much, it was disturbing at the time.

Clearly in hindsight, he thought it was Monica. THe funny thing is, he was putting it to her in DC, and we were in New Mexico. I am sure he was totally freaking out.

Incidently, I am a staunchly conservative Republican. At that speech, I was in awe of the man. I could not stand him, then, and despise him now, but I still positioned myself to be able to shake his hand on the fenceline.

Some folks may be surprised to know this but the US Congress is responsible policing the conduit of it's members. Big Al "Gore" had it right. There is no controlling legal authority. Congress keeps it's members in line through the ethics committee ~ wrote while tring not to laugh. Not the FBI, Capital police, nothing - except the courts, has the power to prosecute a congressman other than their peers. Even the courts have limited powers. Take the case of Torricelli. The judge in that case did the only thing he had the power to do. He released the court papers to the public. This is why Torricelli is a washed-up two-bit wise-guy instead of a Senator with Mob connections. Of course, this all happened AFTER the Senate Ethics Committee cleared him of all charges. He even gets to keep his pension.

Sweet huh?

\sighs. Now I'm tring not to cry.

So what. So farking what. "Oh no, someone swiped Barry Goldwater's silver spittoon..."

How 'bout they try to account for the several trillion dollars that the GAO says the Pentagon "lost". Hmm?

The reason so many speak out of their arse must be, it is the closest oriface to their brain. "Trillions", "my high school friend knew a cousin that talked with an uncle that owned a pet monkey that served on the USS Moron..."
pleeeeease.
1 in 500 of us may have attended a local city council meeting in the last year. We get what we deserve. Now, its kitten K time.
